Most vehicles, 1:1 included, are FAR more capable than their pilots. What is displayed here is what is possible when the two are equally matched. Excellent running vid Francis! Thanks!
Francis, just finished my second TRX-4. The first project was a Sport. Nice rig. Awesome kit. I adore Traxxas kits. Everything is there. They leave nothing out. The one I just finished is the TRX-4 kit with no body. I initially built it for a LC70 body but was disappointed with the scale appearance of the Toyota on that chassis. I acquired a Traxxas Defender body from a bud in tan/beige. I now have my everyday trail truck. I love the diff locks. I get better battery time with the diff locks off. 15 - 20 minutes. Really! I agree. Nice rig.
Also tricked out my defender trx4 w all brass wheel weights, portal covers and running pro forge wheels on bfg krawler tires w power forge scaler shocks. Im currently building another trx4 kit w killer body Marauder 2 body w light set. Trx4 in my opinion one of my top rigs still! Thanks for your video. You always give me lotsa inspiration for my custom builds! Thanks Francis!
I have the same orange defender and has been my favorite also. I probably have literally 100 miles of trail crawling with it and have never needed to replace any drivetrain or electronics. My honcho was my first but the traxxis stole the show!!!!! Also have the bronco but I like the defender more.
i had a tactical unit got a defender body for it had it for about 4 years never did any maintenance on it and it still ran like new however i did have to get rid of it because the chassis was starting to flex in the middle so i upgraded to a 21 Bronco and i don’t regret it so far after owning it for 8 months now definitely traxxas did a good job with the trx 4
I gotta say I bought my blue 2021 bronco after watching the comparison between the SCX! I haven't gone the route of any brass parts yet but I did get a set of super soft Vanquish tires, Hyraxes and a set of snow tires. I am eyeing a heavier bumper and the lighting kit though. So far everything has been reliable, just need to change out the grease in the CVs as I'm paranoid about rust
I love my red Defender. It is still mostly stock performance-wise, but I have done a bit to try to make it look more scale - door handles, bonnet vents, clear windows, bumpers, wheels and tyres etc. Added a rear sway bar to lessen the body roll. It must have done 100s of miles by now, and it's great. 2 things I WISH Traxxas did: 1. Sell the body without the arches cut out (arches are far too big) 2. Correct the lights on the light kit.
The Defender was my 1st crawler. Been running it since 2/2020. Haven’t needed to change the electronics other than the steering servo. Just did a new Defender body with lights. Added some brass. Been my most reliable vehicle. Taking it to USTE this year!
I just bought a TRX-4 Defender. Haven't had too much time to check it out rock crawling. I trimmed up the tires like your video showed. Also reblead the stocks for better travel. thanks for your cool videos.
So I just added a Traxxas Bronco in early 22. I’ve been running an rc4wd 2 for a number of years now and started with an Wraith. I just crawl with our 14 yr old son, my husband hasn’t gotten into it. I’m curious what light kit you have underneath that rig. My son took over the Bronco yesterday during our local yearly “Hangover Crawl.” He would love it lit up like that. And we were both incredibly impressed with the Broncos ability stock. My leaf sprung rc4wd is really scale with a heavy Ford body. Thanks for your awesome videos.
Nice video! I just bought that Orange body the other week btw. I ended up buying the 2021 Ford Bronco and then I bought the orange Defender body and the Defender mounts and bumpers so I can convert it later since I love the look of that orange body the most!
I have a couple defenders/bronco and a sport. I don't treat them like you do. I Run stock components with a bec upgrade. and I clean them relentlessly. I'm guessing they will last me forever the way I scale trail. I hate the way you bash your crawlers/trail trucks! But you are epic bro! I love your passion. I love your knowledge and your videos are epic. And I'm really digging your last few trail runs. It's a pleasant departure to watching trail trucks on ridiculously out of scale rocks. Thank you for everything you do! Did I mention you are awesome and your passion is infectious? Lol. Greetings and thank you from the great state of Maine.
Tour defender performed extremely well, Your video is very well done. Traxxas could use some of your video in their commercials. What a beautiful area to go crawling in. Thanks for sharing. I have a Defender and I am going to have to do some things to it like yours. If you have a video showing the improvements please provide a link or a list of the updates including the tires and wheels.
Awesome Defender, I have a sport and a Blazer and really like both, but I have had my eye on that Orange Defender body that you have...I think that is a really cool.looking body, you have a awesome place to crawl and trail ride there!!!!
Man this video is great. High production quality running footage in a super unique atmospheric spot? I’m all in I’d like to see something like this with the 21 bronco now that you added some lights?
It’s been raining for a few days now & rain is I. The forecast all week so time to get wet n muddy. The ground was still damp from the previous storm so now it’s gunna be real muddy n wet.
Excellent video! I have the original Defender in grey with the blacked out windows. I upgraded the electronics to a Holmes Hobbies revolver and a sidewinder 4. I had the mabaX but I shorted it out by accident. Never had a drivetrain issues. I did have to replace the front locker cable as that failed after 3 years of abuse. I also changed the steering servo to a Holmes SHV500. I change out bearings as needed and the portals are still original, they never wear out if you keep them packed with marine grease or green tractor grease. I also got a Flysky Noble 4 with a 12C receiver. I bought the light kit early on but want to upgrade it as well. The only issue I have is with the spur gear and pinion nose they create. Would a bevel gear set be quieter?
You know... they kind of are. A creek developed where the trail is and I actually spent some time redirecting the water out of the trail... after I did this run.
@@RCReviewChannel even a shallow interior tray like an scx II would be better than nothing...I just like keeping you busy Francis!! Have a good new years friend!!

Yes! So many Rc RUclipsrs hate on the defender but we all know the defender is a head turner…❤
Really cool to see that this is your favourite crawler 😊
Crazy huh? With all that I can choose from, this is the one. There i a bit of nostalgia and sentimental attachment as well.

I’m about to make the plunge on a crawler too. Seems like less broken pieces compared to a regular RC car.
Just got a trx4-sport, great little truck, super capable, and a nice body without being too complicated 👍

Your smiles sat it all, a great rig. Happy New Year

First crawler also. I bought the kit and an Injora Defender body. I like it a lot, the only one I would keep if i had no choice

well this look exactly what i spent my whole summer with my budys crawling /hiking :)
What else do you do to your receiver box to keep it dry inside? Keep up the good videos. 👌🏻🤙🏻

those trails look amazing

Running video is sick! The flow of the water does not effect it at all. Did you do anything to make it more waterproof ie marine grease ?
I have the TRX “regular”. Can you please provide the link where you purchased the wheel/tire combo? Cheers!
I now finally own a Defender silver❤. Why did I wait so long😂
🇩🇰🇩🇰real NiCE defender🤗and cool video you made 📸🤩keep up the the good works🙏🇩🇰🇩🇰
I have a trx4 bronco 2021 and when I go forward or reverse it sounds like a Xmaxx would if the drive line bent. Is that what I'm dealing with now?
I’m in the water every chance I get!
Hello sir, where can I send you A message privately? Thanks! Happy New year!
I have the Double Eagle Defender which is better looking but not as robust but just about to buy a K10 High Trail Trx4 though!
more vids like this!
I miss my Defender :(
Where was this filmed?
This was filmed in the Castle Rock area of Saratoga.
I hope those aren't mtb trails getting washed out like that.
You know... they kind of are. A creek developed where the trail is and I actually spent some time redirecting the water out of the trail... after I did this run.
Just missing a driver
great call. I'll put one now. I have great figures but they'll need to be chopped. Worth it though

Zero scale driving! Boooooo
It’s just a video. A very good video.
TRX4 spoiled me. Everything else feels so dinky and cheap after I bought mine.
