Rainbow with Bonnet is the best Rainbow line up.. It hits ya in the face and doesn't need to sound tonically surgical.. it is pure KICK ASS rock-n-roll!
I remember when I used to say this rainbow was better than that one etc etc, I remember buying Long live rock and roll when it first came out!! I remember everyone saying that Grahem Bhonnet had killed off rainbow!! I went to the first monsters of rock in 1980, now days I like to watch and listen to all of it!
i wish this line-up would have stayed together for a lot longer than they did in the words of Bonnet at this exact same show: LONG LIVE ROCK 'N' ROLL! LONG LIVE RAINBOW!!
There's only one Ritchie. And he can be everything he wants: Rainbow, Purple or whatever. Just the same magic! Rod,David,Ronnie,Joe or Doogie, though extremely talented, were surely lucky and blessed enough to work with a genius of his kind. Ian Gillan is the only one who could compete/complete in a peer to peer contest. My humble opinion.
If you had a powerful voice like this, what else would you do with it, sing falsetto??? Come on, we can be happy, that this man uses his voice in the best possible kick-ass way:D
If you go to Graham´s website, you´ll see he admits he has a "memory problem", or something like that. He said the band thought he was joking when he asked the Dio era lyrics to sing it alive...
Yea on the radio and studio album he sings "keep her head" Also at the beginning, he sings looking up with Your eyes on me. In this verison he sings looking up with Your eyes on my meat. Gotta love it,plus the I dont know about Your brains but You look alright !
Heard this as a kid and always thought what a pity it was that Blackmore and many of the HM mob couldn't see past GB's Hawaiian shirts etc. - I thought it was pure brilliance to have such a non-stereotypical and gifted lead singer. Rainbow were on the brink of world domination here, but the Ranieri of Rock just HAD to go and tinker again, and that SUCKS! \m/
GRAHAM BONNET is the man,and Mr.Blackmore was very long,looking for,his kind of rough,rock'n'roll singer-all others are great,but totally different style.matter of opinion,but prefer him,above all-brilliant!
Richie blackmore el mejor guitarrista del mundo, creador , innovador, de notas musicales, bravísimo all night long, tambien escucho blackmore night, thomas Lizarraga
He left Rainbow after a good year or so. I think you are thinking of his tenure in the Michael Schenker group. He was sacked after the first gig or something like that...
Is this the same tour as the 1980 Castle Donnington album? I have that on a tape somewhere, but it must be a different night. It has the Scorpions, April Wine, Riot, Saxon, a few others. Great show!
Fantastic band, such a shame that this was the last gig they played,as a unit. With Cozy's departure, they lost a real integral part.Graham did the pre-production vocals to Difficult to Cure, but said that the fun within the band had left with Cozy's departure. He quickly followed.Don Airey later stated, that Richie should had acted quicker,to try to keep the band together.Ritchie tried, but it was too late.
The only people close to Graham Bonnet are Tom Jones or Tony Christie. You can imagine Bonnet singing "avenues and alleyways". Or Tom Jones singing "all night long" very macho voices.
Absolutely false,...He gave incredible versions of stargazer, Man On the Silver Mountain, Catch The Rainbow (you can find the extended version here), Long Live Rock'n Roll...He can sing whatever he wants...and sing in a lot of styles...I'm a singer since 13 years, I can tell you he's the most incredible one I've ever heard!
Bonnett was kicked out of Rainbow because both Blackmore and Glover pretty much hated his guts. He later did a Jim Morrison imitation by dropping trou at a concert when he in Alcatraz with Yngie Malstreem
hahahah, I started singing at 14 and studying at 17, but that's not important...you can hear me singing in some videos in my profile...of course you will say I'm barking too....hahaha....graham rocks at all
Graham is my favorite singer in Rainbow,I would want to look like him instead of Dio if I come back as a rock star.Dio sings strong but his voice tone is limited and dull.Sorry Ronnie.Has anybody ever heard Ian G. singin the Sab tunes in the Born Again tour? What do you think?
To me, this is the best Rainbow's song. But this particular performance was kind of sloppy, i think. Graham was great but sounded very tired for some reason. And The Godfather had not the best night at all. Especially the intro- very sickish of him. Look at my nick - I admire the guy, but when he's bad he's bad :) The only guy who rocked there was Roger :) But hey, who gives a shit about some play. This is All Night Long, people!!! :)))
Wonder why Bonnet never grew his hair. He was obviously into rock and roll with that dynamite voice; he made his mark on the hard rock world as Blackmore's bitch, then - what? Was he just making time while looking for that perfect accountant's job?
I gotta ask, why does a vocalist in a rock band have to look a certain way? Why can't he have a sleazy lounge singer look? Its his voice that counts...
Ritchie Blackmore - the best guitar player ever. Five years ago he inspired me into playing the guitar. I owe all my skill to him.
How I long for those wonderful days when guys could play the guitar- Ritchie Blackmore = one of the best.
Thanks Ritchie for all the great riffs.
Remeber watching this on bbctv doing my school homework. Changed my life...amazing. The masters for the whole performance cannot be traced :-(
The best EVER line up of Rainbow. Shame it lasted so short...
Rainbow with Bonnet is the best Rainbow line up.. It hits ya in the face and doesn't need to sound tonically surgical.. it is pure KICK ASS rock-n-roll!
Graham Bonnet was needed to take Rainbow to another level. What a singer!!! Listen to his earlier stuff, truly amazing
been a Rainbow fan from day 1 and Bonnet was and still is a class singer!
Best rainbow singer ever!!!!

Can't agree with that, Bonnet has a perfect voice for something like Rainbow.
Very strong but clear and no high pitch like some.
A class voice!
i watch this last night ,never could get to this concert , my good i have mad e up 4 it the best live perfomace of the band live , sadly it went
i wish this line-up would have stayed together for a lot longer than they did
in the words of Bonnet at this exact same show:
LONG LIVE ROCK 'N' ROLL! LONG LIVE RAINBOW!!
He does sing 'give me head'
'Your mind is dirty but your hands are clean'
I love those lyrics
heres one: Rainbow's a great band, & this is a great song too
1 OF THE BEST ROCK PERFORMANCES EVER.GREAT COMMENTS HERE TO.JUST FUKIN EPIC.
There's only one Ritchie. And he can be everything he wants: Rainbow, Purple or whatever. Just the same magic! I saw them on this tour, my first concert.
Incredible...all of it!
Cozy had the sly cymbal crash moves back then before the big flashy drummers of the 80's!
Graham Bonnet proved that you don't need long hair, tattered jeans and a T-shirt to ROOOOCK!!!
DIO,BONNET,TURNER.GREAT FRIENDS,GREAT SINGERS.WE ARE LUCKY TO HAVE HAD ALL 3.GREAT POST
wonderful!!!! Specially Bonnet vocals!
Love That Voice !
such an awesome tune!
Bonnet left during the recording sessions of Difficult To Cure...He wasn't fired. The Performance in Doninghton was great as you can hear!
como me gustaria tener la maquina del tiempo para poder ir a esos recitales!!!!!!!
'Bring the mushy peas on'.... Pissed my self!!!!
Thanks Bigtw
Bonnet's fearful rocker-haircut kicks ass... :-))))
"Don't know about your brain but you look alright." LOL
Both Dio and Bonnet were really great!
'Your mind is dirty but your hands are clean'. Inspired lyrics
so cute though we can hear them that much! Roger and Don on backing vocals!
Yeah ive seen several articles saying he was difficult at the best of times...trouble is Deep Purple arent Deep Purple without him!
Whoops, that's Graham Bonnet, but my comment works for him too!
Richie is amaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing!!!!!!!!!!
Graham is the man!
If you go to Graham´s website, you´ll see he admits he has a "memory problem", or something like that. He said the band thought he was joking when he asked the Dio era lyrics to sing it alive...
The sexiest song ever..
2:31,his expression always cracks me up "I guess you know what you want to see"
cynsbro Thanks mate
Yea on the radio and studio album he sings "keep her head" Also at the beginning, he sings looking up with Your eyes on me. In this verison he sings looking up with Your eyes on my meat. Gotta love it,plus the I dont know about Your brains but You look alright !

That's correct!
DIO is synonimous and Bonnet is antonimous :)
Bonnet looks and sounds like 60's rokkannnrrrrollarrrrr
klassik....rainbow!!!!
one of many versions yes
GRAHAM BONNET is the man,and Mr.Blackmore was very long,looking for,his kind of rough,rock'n'roll singer-all others are great,but totally different style.matter of opinion,but prefer him,above all-brilliant!
Bonnet Was never kicked out!!! He was Bonnet himself that wasn't so happy with the band musical direction and went away!
que vozzzzzzzzz Graham!!
Richie blackmore el mejor guitarrista del mundo, creador , innovador, de notas musicales, bravísimo all night long, tambien escucho blackmore night, thomas Lizarraga
graham bonnet Rocks!! great voice
He left Rainbow after a good year or so. I think you are thinking of his tenure in the Michael Schenker group. He was sacked after the first gig or something like that...
Graham Left!!! He wasn't sacked at all! He left durring the next album sessions
Graham was a GOD!
これぞベストメンバーだと思う
bonnet's look was so cool... between these hairy bears...
Can anyone tell me were I can get the Monsters of Rock album Castle Donnington...
1980. I was there, what a show!!!! top night
I will never forget it
are these still going i wonder in awe at the stage show ;D
take a listen to to Graham version of "Oh Darling" and you'll change your mind...Paul is a fine singer, but Graham is over the top!
I would of stayed for the scorpions and rainbow even if it was bonnet.
Well put, i just think Blackmore used to get bored very quickly and could help but to dismantle a great thing even after just a short time together.
Powerful fucking singer

4:12 til 4:15 is the way how to dance.
Graham Bonnet Raaawwks!! D

There are different sides to every story.
Bonnett was kicked out of Rainbow because both Blackmore and Glover pretty much hated his guts.

exactly lol
hahahah, I started singing at 14 and studying at 17, but that's not important...you can hear me singing in some videos in my profile...of course you will say I'm barking too....hahaha....graham rocks at all

@willnotallow Great! that's awesome, do you like deep purple?
Only the first part is Intro of Lazy...your right...a few minutes , 2or so..thats not a whole night long...
wish i was ther withya pump
My fingers are 30 cm long (From the Thumb to the Pinkie)
@willnotallow you do mean the greatest rock drummer of all time?
GRAHAM BONNET was fired after this gig due to drunken performance. Man, don´t screw with Ritchie.
Blackmore as a guitar player is brilliant, as a human being he is one of the most egotistical self centered people ever.
Graham Bonnet? Graham Bowie!!
@MrPallonivel and how many of ritchie blackmore's bands have you fronted for?
To me, this is the best Rainbow's song. But this particular performance was kind of sloppy, i think. Graham was great but sounded very tired for some reason. Look at my nick - I admire the guy, but when he's bad he's bad :) The only guy who rocked there was Roger :) But hey, who gives a shit about some play. This is All Night Long, people!!! :)))
graham is so cool.doesn fit with the band but he is great!!!
Wonder why Bonnet never grew his hair. He was obviously into rock and roll with that dynamite voice; he made his mark on the hard rock world as Blackmore's bitch, then - what? Was he just making time while looking for that perfect accountant's job?
Graham is god
Isn't that stage a case for health & safety?
EI ARNAU K PASAAAA
with all due respect, Ronnie laughs
graham Bonzilla
You're thinking of GB's time with MSG, not Rainbow.
Bob Dylan.
Graham Bonnett love him or hate him. He looks like a Roxy Music reject LOL
I gotta ask, why does a vocalist in a rock band have to look a certain way? Why can't he have a sleazy lounge singer look? Its his voice that counts...
Was this the show Bonnett got fired from?
