Great video. That camera captures night shots that are brilliant and sharp. This gentleman has a very pleasant voice for narration. The shots with the family added a warm and personal touch. Now I'm really looking forward to visiting the Mission Inn "Festival of Lights" - only 15 miles away, but have never been there.
I love my city of Riverside!! It was great this year at the lighting ceremony to see all the vendors and the tens of thousands of people enjoying the lights! I took a date there recently and she said I missed my calling of a tour guide because I knew so much of about the downtown area!🎉🎄🤘🏻🇺🇸
The food lab is a great option in downtown riverside. I really like all the options. I like that when you showed the donut place and said “if” you want a donut. I think you meant “when” you want a donut
"back in full force" thats great to hear! I remember you saying you were disappointed about how the lights were scaled back in the previous years in last year's christmas lights video
Great video, as always! Plan to take the family there as it is looking very festive again this year, almost like back to pre-lock down times. Suggestions on where to park? Also where are good bathroom spots to know? Would love to know ahead, because my wife is pregnant, hence the frequent bathroom breaks. 😅
I recommend a weekday if at all possible. If you can get there early (430 ish) you can normally find street parking relatively easy. If it is later there are parking structures, there is one even at the Food Lab which are good options. In terms of bathrooms, Food Lab has one, and I would guess the restaurants along main street would have one too. Not sure about Portapotties though as I wasn't really looking. Hope that helps!
I went the first Saturday they opened and they allowed us inside but there was a rope to go upstairs. Do they have additional decorations & lights upstairs for hotel guests ?
Awesome always like that you travel to my city for this update. May I make two suggestions next time you are in downtown riverside?, Beignet Spot & Arcade Roasters downtown.
The kids are so cute. 😁 Great video! This coming weekend (12/10) I’ll be going to the Christmas Lights & Market Fest in Cambria, CA. Any suggestions on camera settings for photographs (not video) of the light displays at night? I have a Canon 90D with the following lens: Canon EF 17-40 f/4 L USM (mk 1), a Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8 L USM (mk 1), a Tamron 18-400 f/3.5-6.3), and the Nifty Fifty (Canon 50mm f/1.8). Not the best of lenses for handheld night photography, I know. I’m hoping to upgrade some lenses in 2023. Thanx!
For me, I use the lowest f stop I can for the lens I want to use and I will set like a max iso of around 3000 on my camera (this could be too much noise on your camera though) and I can normal hand hold the shots if I am steady. If I need a little more steadiness I will often put it on the pole of a fence or up against a wall or something as I don't often bring a tripod. Hopefully that helps
@@californiathroughmylens Thanks! What do you think is the longest shutter speed (for those non-IS lenses I have) that I can get away with without causing motion blur? Maybe 1/50 or quicker?
I had the exact same issue as you fastest lens was a 35mmf2(niftyfifty of apsc), just bought the XF18mm f1.4 this year for holiday lights, just shot Sensorio Paso Robles over the weekend, at 1/26 it was still pushing 4000 iso. At 1/50 your iso might be even higher. My advice is to take a few shot of the same scene if you can. Chances are you might get a few clear shots, or just use your family as tripod, or use a 2sec self timer, it takes off the initial shake when you press the shutter.
Went there last week, pretty boring they don't let you inside the hotel unless you're a guest. There are better holiday lights in L.A. - El Segundo Candy Cane Lane, Torrance Sleepy Hollow, Long Beach Naples.
I was born in Riverside CA. Remember going to Mission inn around 1971 and it was almost condemned. Completely run down and had not been opened since probably the Mid 60's. My great aunti used to make salads there back in 50's 60's. I think the owners were the Millers if I recall. Then around 1998 I returned and saw it was renovated and functioning hotel. Sure glad they did not doz it. Don't care for cali anymore. It was great when I was young but its way too many people there now. As a kid they still had allot of orange groves there. There is no more open space now. Zero.
That so nice you could share this night with your family 🎉
Yea, the twins had so much fun!
Just celebrated our 29 Anniversary today, with the Brunch at the Mission Inn. We came for thanksgiving with our kids about 6 years ago. Wonderful.
hope yall divorce soon

How about calling it "Christmas festival" ? 😇
