I wouldn't say the quality is bad but I would say the text fading speed is slightly fast. I can't read fast and see the piece you remove at thr same time.

The soldier is also the shogi pawn, and as a shogi pawn it is even weaker since it cannot double

don't underestimate the value of a shogi pawn. It is said that" A pawn values tons of gold(一步千金)
Shogi pawns however promote much earlier than chess pawns
When I was playing chess against myself in jail, before I knew anything about chess strategies, before I knew about any online chess community, before I knew about fairy pieces, when I was making my board and pieces out of soap, toothpaste, and cardboard, I came up with what you'd call a "fairy piece" and I called it the Serpent. Basically, you started with this piece in hand, not on the board, and when you moved a piece on the board you could put it on the board in the place where that piece had just moved from. It could attack like a knight or bishop (choose one at the beginning of the game) but it couldn't move otherwise without attacking. You could also use a turn to take it off the board if it wasn't under attack, and use it again in the future. Idk if anyone else has had the same idea. I never used the piece much, because figuring out normal chess was complicated enough without it.
I guess you can call them "tactics" of prisons.

The least powerful piece is probably the quintipler (I made that up and it is a 5,5 leaper). It can only access about 1/64th of a board

It depends on its starting position, but from the centre it can't go anywhere so 1/64 in that case. If it starts from a corner it should have access to 4 cells, which makes up a 16th of the board.

Talking about fairy pieces, the shogi variants are the most interesting. My personal favourite is king`s promotion, which can jump on any unprotected square on the board.
Ah yes the emperor from one of the huge board variants, truly one of the strongest pieces ever designed
There's piece named Dummy that has no movement, a piece named Ruthven which worth -5 pawns

The soldier can still be useful. You say that it can easily be stopped from promotion, but if there's a rook supporting it from behind it's actually really hard to stop. Because unlike normal pawns, soldiers control the squares they move to, so you can always push the soldier as long as it's not captured.
I think we can come up with some custom pieces that are probably weaker than a pawn.
1. The antlion: it can attack forwards but only move backwards. It can neither form useful pawn chains nor get anywhere in the endgame, forcing it to make 7 straight predictable captures to get anything done.
2. The defender: it moves and captures as a Wazir, making it arguably stronger than a pawn in some ways. However, it cannot promote, and it cannot capture offensively. It can only capture if the opponent captured on that square the previous move. Notably, it cannot capture to get the king out of check.
3. The Froze. It has the same mobility pattern as a Ferz. However, it cannot move if it is defended. It can make a two move advance like a pawn, but cannot promote.
4. The drunken king: Has the moveset of a king, but every time it moves, it loses the ability to move that direction. It may idle for a turn in order to regain its move in any given direction. Yes, this means it has 256 possible movesets it can "promote" to each of different value. I'm honestly not sure the value of this piece, but I could see it not being worth a full pawn.
Drunk pawn - moves like a pawn, but captures only backwards on the diagonal lines.

Lazy pawn: can move and capture like a normal pawn but doesn't feel like it. Will only do anything if the king is watching over his shoulder.
What about the checker? While it can multi-capture, it can only promote to a checker queen that is much weaker than a normal queen.
In my language the pawn is actually called “sarbaz” which is soldier in Persian

In my opinion: the weakest piece is the Alfil.
Reason: Soldiers can promote to other pieces, just like regular chess pawns. Alfils can move backwards and therefore do not promote. These very weak pieces can access only 1/8 of the board.
Also please talk about step movers such as shogi generals which kinda moves like a nerfed king

@@hungryironapple the soldier can’t form chains, and if the other variants form chains, they can bypass any boundaries. Soldiers can only form chains vertically where only the first one can move, and if it does, it will break the chain.

@@hungryironapple well, soldiers can’t even change files so the only way for them to form chains is for them to start on the same file. Who would put them on the same file? Even if they did, the chains would be useless.

Berolina's mobility comes at the cost of very weak attack or make strong pawn structures with it and inability to shepherd it with another piece easily. I think it's still quite a bit worse than the traditional pawn in the midgame and opening.

There's a piece that can move like a bishop but only exactly two squares. I forget the name. It's famously weak because it can only ever reach 8 squares on the chessboard.

I think there are no real fairy chess because it has no boundaries
But u can play chesscraft and make ur own fairy chess boards and pieces
But it's limited to the features of chesscraft unfortunately u can't invent whatever crazy ideas in ur mind

But it's very unrealistic.
The Soldier is definitely not the weakest piece. Far from it.
The weakest piece is the Zero. The Zero is defined as a (0, 0)-leaper. It is not useless, as it allows you to effectively "skip a turn," but it is definitely the weakest piece, as it has no other utility whatsoever, and can be captured.
Also, the anti-Soldier and anti-Berolina Pawn are both also weaker than the Soldier, since they can only move backward, theoretically.
