Thanks so much for the awesome feedback! It’s great to hear you enjoyed this video. I plan to continue dedicating a healthy portion of my content to historical. The 1962 season for this series should be out next week. You might also enjoy my 1970’s save centered around Curt Flood and my 1920’s attempt to take down Babe Ruth’s Yankees. If there’s anything else you’d like to see, please let me know!
Thanks so much for the kind words! 🙌 I’m thrilled you enjoyed it. Yes, the story of the Continental League will continue after I do a standalone video about having a champions league for baseball.
Very nice idea to make this historical what-if. I grew up in the 60s so naturally I feel tempted to see how this turns out. I bit too young in early 60s so not remember anything from that turmoil baseball years, but might get an alternative view with this. I DL your stuff and hope I can see how you sat it up, beside the small intro. I'm intrigued, especially how you will deal with future expansions and how you worked out a historical OOTP schedule without actually do what they did. We got a major expansion coming in 1969 so how will you deal with that one ? It takes a lot of hands on for sure but might be doable.
Thanks for diving in and exploring how this alternate reality matches your memories. I'm glad you’re getting a closer look at the quick start. There's definitely some handholding with the schedule, minor league affiliations, and first-year players, but nothing that can't be solved with a little TLC. The potential 1969 expansion is on the horizon, but there are plenty of puzzle pieces my subscribers are voting on. The Senators still want out of Washington, the Athletics may leave Kansas City, the Braves might look for a bigger market, and LA is still eyeing a second club. Lots of dominoes still to fall that will influence the 1969 expansion. Stay tuned, and feel free to share any feedback or ideas!
@@baseballdreamland I had a very quick look at the files. The first thing I looked for was coming drafts and of course this expansion. If I understood you bring in new players from drafts not as a proper draft but as FA ?? I thought the only way to bring them in was either in a normal draft, that will happen in December when playing in historical sets, or they will just "pop" up in the teams they actually first signed their first minor league contracts. If you pick the 2nd option the teams in Continental League can hardly get any new youngsters. All the rest also will have no teams as the AI expected, thanks to reallocation and such. I thought you should have picked a "standard-real" draft so all teams got a shot at any and all players making their debut in upcoming seasons. I have played with both these examples in the past and not sure which is best. When we coming closer to our time we got so many International players from ex Japan (Ichiro Suzuki, Hideo Nomo and so) and they sadly will end up in the regular OOTP draft in December. So I reverted to having players just come along where they did historical. But that could be hard in your universe. You must also micromanage all minor league moves both leagues and teams. Massive work I think. It can get overwhelming I think going forward. I understand you will handle all coming expansion and team moves in such micromanage state. Big work. I really will follow and see how you do, so please explain a little more during your episodes not just playing and showing results.
It isn't nearly that complicated. The first-year players just dump into free agency and it's a free-for-all, which is how it worked in real-life until 1965. There's no manipulation required. However, the AI is absolutely horrible at handling minor league free agents, so I ended up doing a draft after all. I custom-built a lottery system that favors the big-market (rich) teams and mimics the real signing patterns of the time. I can show this in the next video!

@@baseballdreamland FWIW I have a massively tweaked 1966 OOTP 25 start that I made to do that 'realistic expansion' thing with. Would be willing to share but dont know how
How do you set up three subleagues? I only see how you can do two. I'm looking to run a similar simulation incorporating the Negro League into MLB as a separate but equal league. Once established, they color barrier would be removed and players would be free to move across leagues via draft, trade, free agency etc.
@@patrickdebonis6493 I merged the National League and American Leagues into a single sub-league with two divisions. Then added the Continental League as the third division. I also made a custom schedule with no inter-division play (NL portion was exact 1961 replica) So it’s the same result but a few small side effects like no all-star game and only one set of awards (MVP, Cy Young, etc)
@@T_K7 Probably, but I want this community’s input on how and when that would happen. They obviously aren’t moving to Minnesota. The owner wanted his own market, so that rules out them moving to L.A. and becoming the Angels or moving to Oakland (especially with Oakland fans adopting the Giants after winning the World Series). What other markets were ready in 1962?
@@baseballdreamland Well, the two most prepared I can think of would be Montréal & Seattle. At this point both Jarry Park & Sick's Stadium were available to be given expanded seating as temporary options, and having their teams in-hand could justify their permanent stadiums (Olympic Stadium & the Kingdome) being completed sooner than in real life, as both faced delays. San Diego would have been similarly prepared with Westgate Park as its temporary option, though I'm not sure if its proximity to LA would rule it out here. San Antonio & New Orleans would have also been comparable markets at this time with no practical temporary stadium options.
Omg that Montreal option is perfect! For one, it's realistic both from a stadium readiness and a political ambition standpoint. Looks like Montreal was after a team immediately after the Montreal Royals folded. Second, the beautiful irony of the baseball team in Washington moving to Montreal. Sorry Nationals/Senators fans...
Yes! They are available in the OOTP development forums. It has tons of historical, international, minor league, and fictional stadiums available from some great modders. forums.ootpdevelopments.com/forumdisplay.php?f=3879
Not yet. The eight cities in the save are the actual founding members of the Continental League. I'm not sure why none of them were from California. However, the league becoming a reality sets off a butterfly effect of if/how baseball would've expanded further into California in the 1960's. The channel gets to help decide how that would have played out! Another person already commented that the Senators should still leave Washington, even though they're blocked from Minnesota. Will Oakland still get a team now that the Giants are World Series champions? Will the Los Angeles Angels ever form, and if so, how? What about San Diego?
Absolutely love this!!! Would love to see more historical content like this!!

Oh I am HYPED to get this quickstart. Having a third subleague or WHA-esque competitor has been something I've wondered about for years.
Some aspects of the save are a handful to manage, but I'm absolutely loving it! Who are you going to play with?
Blue Jays, naturally. I may end up designing some 60s era uniforms for them too!
I figured. Txranger from the forums made great ones (imo) that should come through in the quick start.
