Formatting your SD card on a Fujifilm camera: hold the trash can button, wait a second or so, and click the back control wheel. This takes you to the format menu without having to go through the user menu.

An update to my earlier comments about my X100F: it focuses down to 4" from the sensor plane to the subject; very cool! Tried taking some close-up shots of flowers with the digital zoom set at 70mm equivalent with small apertures f/11-f/16 and they are great.

I grew up shooting a Nikon F as year book photog and was blessed to have a F2 also to use at home, dad had. Later a Leica cl showed up, and I fell in love with that thing, its size, its 2 lenses 40 and 90 I believe, the pictures it cranked out.
Digital hasn’t felt right, and my Sony as good as it is, isn’t exciting me.
I have one these coming tomorrow I purchased with the 2 converter lenses, flash etc..Looks like a modern day Leica

I bought my X100F in December 2019. I bought it to replace an old Sony digital camera which worked fine but I wanted something more up to date with more capabilities. I've used a 35mm film SLR camera for many years but I carry a digital camera when I want a 'point and shoot' camera that's easier to carry than an SLR with a couple of lenses. What attracted me to the X100F is the shutter speed control dial and lens aperture ring are exactly where I'm used to with my film SLR, and it's mostly metal body construction. And it has that 'traditional film rangefinder camera' look and feel. Sure it was pricey I could have bought a less expensive digital 'point and shoot' camera but I wanted a quality camera with that traditional look and feel. What I don't like about it? It has many external buttons and controls which are easy to activate accidentally if you don't watch where you're putting your fingers when using it..I've accidentally changed settings and had to fumble around trying how to figure out how to get it back to the settings I want. That I put off though to inexperience I'm gradually learning how to take advantage of it's many built-in features. Overall I'm pleased with it.

Hi Tyler, great video and I'm with you on many things: wide open at f/2 and at close range, focus gets mushy. Has been fiexed in the X100V, though. As for the bokeh, I'd guess that's kind of a tall order for such a small camera. Usually, those lenses with great bokeh (in my book anyways, ymmv), the lens allone costs as much as the whole X100f, many even more. (i. e. my favorite, the 56mm f/1,2 from Fuji). Ships for about 1.200 bucks though.
Also, your idea of rtfm concerning the menu is right. The Q menu is there to pack the most needed items right there where you need it, so the other items can get out of the way. Or you program them to one of the buttons on the camera. For me, I usually have to hit the menu only once every other day, the rest is all set to buttons (white balance, custom color profiles and so on. After all, it's a point and shoot, not a studio camera. Meaning, it wants to be taken out and being made ready to shoot in less than 2 seconds.
I consider the menu deep diving more of an option than a necessity, unlike some other companies make you do (looking at you, Sony!). And the quickstep for card formatting has been pointed out elsewhere.
Also, for me, at least, it's not a DSLR replacement, but a great secondary camera. It can go places unnoticed where you wouldn't take a DSLR (museums, concerts, churches) and get very few raised eyebrows shooting with the X100S. And 100% with you, for dreamy bokeh portraits, nothing beats the bigger boys.

Michael Rapp I’ve been tempted to upgrade to the V, but I’ve been getting back into film photography and buying too much (beautiful) old glass!

@@TylerGajewski recently upgraded from my busted x100s to the f version, also thought of getting the V. But the I got to thinking that all the good stuff in the V was already in my X-T3. And price was also prohibitive, there are just so many places an expensive camera just wouldn't go with me. And that was kind of defeating the whole point of an X100 camera for me, in a way.
Ah, film 😁! Got my start in photography shooting film, lots of BW, but the time I had to spend in the darkroom was just overwhelming. I wouldn't know where to find the time for that nowadays, with family and kids and all.

Appreciate your review. I think people have to keep this camera in perspective, it’s ultimately an upmarket compact with a fixed 35 - it’s not going to give 85mm f/1.2 bokeh, it’s not going to be a 600mm birding lens - and it’s not a $3200 RX1Rii. I’m an enthusiastic, but non-pro, dad ‘tog... and I’ve found that I sometimes like something a little more traditional (over my iPhone) with some exposure triangle flexibility. The X100F allows me to shoot very delicious SOOC JPEGs where the film sims do the heavy lifting for me, I can simply drop the highlights, boost the shadows/sharpness, set auto-ISO, click in f/2-f/8 and I’m pretty much off to the races. I think too many think this camera will do the dishes and pay the bills, it’s not feasible.

Thanks for the honest review, I agree with the conclusions. And you actually take decent photos which indicates you know what you're talking about. . I wanted a portable travel camera with decent image quality, and while I'm no great photographer something always seemed off with the X100f itself, WB was all over the place, images looked flat and lacking in contrast while colours had a strange pastel hue, even processing from RAW., So I bought a boring non-sexy Nikon DSLR second hand. Even with the kit zoom lens image quality blows the Fuji out of the water. The X series isn't the versatile claimed. Images quality is average outside of particular circumstances (high contrast urban scenes) with skilled photographer who knows what they're doing,

I like to watch reviews of old cameras specially X100 series , this was a really bad review of the camera, I understand that your expectations were too high for the camera ,you even compared to a DSLR, i know it’s not a perfect camera , and you were right about the softness of the lens shooting at f2(this was fixed on X100V), but some points you made I think are invalid, but it’s your opinion ,of course your Nikon has better quality , but they’re so different, different tools for different jobs, sometimes people forget that this camera has the same sensor that Xpro2 (X-Trans III) in such a small body , I think that’s amazing for a EDC camera.
For me it’s a wonderful camera to document daily life , when you don’t want to use the iPhone.
But it was a interesting video after all , keep it up

Appreciate the comment. I have softened my stance on the X100F a little bit after shooting film on my Nikon F3. I really enjoy how much the X100F feels/operates like a film camera.

I think your too much of a thumbs down reviewer. I think this is a lousy review and really not a true review. Everything I shoot is tack sharp. Exposures are super, and the functions that this camera has are incredible for all kinds of work. Fortunately there are other reviewers that don’t suck up to Nikon like you did and truthfully you should be ashamed for bad mouthing what a great camera the 100f is but fortunately there are a great many, lots, incredibly large amounts of reviewers and users that would tell you where to shove your Nikon.

Thank Elliot, I appreciate the feedback. I agree with you the X100F is a great camera. I wouldn't say I bad mouthed the camera by any means. I've taken a lot photos that I like with the X100F, especially at concerts. I think my expectations were a little too high when I got it. I still continue to use the camera and enjoy it. I will take your advice along with all the other reviewers and shove my Nikon.
