I just wanted to say I found your RUclips channel about a year ago, can’t remember how or what lead me here but I’m so glad I got here. Prior to finding this channel I knew nothing about aids. Since watching and learning from you I have shared so much information even in just casual conversation. A friend of mines sister just tested positive after a long battle of testing and not knowing. I had an exposure seventeen years ago. Since then, I've had over 5 negative tests at fairly regular intervals. I've also been a regular blood donor. I go through periods when I'm confident I don't have it, but then I feel sick and my mind immediately goes back to the possibility and I'm completely consumed by fear. I'm an otherwise rational person, but I can't seem to get past the fear. I'm in a new relationship now, he got sick and I'm terrified that I got him sick. I appreciate your efforts. 💚
I think you would have tested positive if your exposure was 17 years ago, normally test positive after 3 months. Relax and enjoy life, its very short.

I totally get the anxiety - the month I was on PEP following a sexual assault by an IV drug user was a very frightening time. Waiting for my test results really was anxiety provoking at an already very vulnerable time. But hearing from you and learning more about HIV reduced that anxiety a lot. Thank you x
Same boat raped by a guy from NY took PEP and was super scared for a month but I am negitive thank God. Still have ptsd and nightmares but atleast the fear of HIV is gone.

Hello jennifer! I would like to thank you for the information you gave to your viewers. It makes us anxious or overthinker people to overcome our anxiety. To share my story, I am a heterosexual male but I am not that active in sex like I have only 1 partner each year. But recently After I broke up with my ex, by the way my ex have a child and her ex did have a lot of sex partners at the time they were together. After five months of break up with her ex we met and have a relationship eventually we have sex not long ago when we first met. Then our relationship only lasted for about 3 mos. Then After we broke up, I want to know what my hiv status is. After 7 weeks we broke up I get tested and its negative. But I have doubts that I'm positive and lucky for me I watched your videos in youtube and I must say that you are the most informative and accurate person regarding to the hiv information. And thanks to you I'm now free from anxiety to my hiv status. Thank you so much!
I had a potential exposure last Sunday and a few days later I've felt flu like symptoms, started Googling, and sure enough freaked myself out with so much stress that it made my symptoms worse. I've been binge watching your videos and they are so helpful and calming. I'm going to get tested this week and praying for the best. Thank you!
Please make sure to get 2 more test every 3 or 6 months to be on the safe side. Good luck

@miguel Lima I recently found out not all facilities have the updated testing kits. I had to ask my doctor which generation they had and they still had 3rd gen.
How long does it take to reach an advanced stage where your body stops producing antibodies, so antibody tests become useless.
Hi jennifer, I'm from Miami fl a place where HIV has a high prevalence rate. I do believe you when you say heterosexual men who dont share needles are low risk. Iv met two heterosexual males who to my knowledge weren't IVD, who were with HIV positive woman who I later found out the woman were unaware of their status as well. One man was with the woman first 9 months... the other was with his partner for 2 years and both men had tested negative, so yes I do think there is something to what your saying.

had unprotected sex last march 3 and after 5days march 8 i got mild fever and after 2 days my throat got something stuck like little tickle.. after today march 16, 7 days after the fever subside like almost gone but i got one small mouth sore .. but my partner claimed hes on prep and got his last hiv test real time pcr which is negative last feb 7.. is there any chance this could be hiv acute infection? I'm a straight male and circumcized. I had an unprotected 2 minutes vagina sex with a woman of an unknow hiv status. I asked about her status and she said I should not be worried about anything. Two weeks later I went for an Hiv test and the result was neg, but I'm still very anxious about my chances of contracting the virus.

@@AC-kp3fs I had one sexual exposure late December last year. i had epstein barr virus in june. I had many HIV RNA PCRs test ran in the last 9 months all not detected. Seriously stressed now thinking my HIV antibodies could be delayed because of epstein barr virus. My cd4s are 1,570 so I'd be so confused on how I'd be immnocompromised or have a weakened immune system with those numbers. Along with the mutiple HIV 4th generation tests that were all negative over the last 9 months Thoughts?

2019 unpro and Jan or Feb of 2020 I had oral sex
I tested twice in different clinic. the first test was April11,2022 and the second was May4,2022 both of my result was non reactive

I just wanted to say that I like what you re doing helping people fight anxiety I did an antibody test four months after exposure and turned out negative after that I started to have some symptoms such as a small lymph node on neck and tiredness and body aches anxiety started to rule over me so I did another test today to clarify myself hope it turns out negative waiting is killing me two more hours for the test answer to come

Hi mam I have intercourse some before 17 week before but symptoms appear like oral thrush (tongue white still on there) sometimes giddiness, rash fever, chills, lymph nodes swelling, sweats, urine tract infection, stomach upset, diarrhea after 55days I took HIV duo test it's non reactive, and after 100 I took HIV duo and rapid test both are non reactive symptoms appear what I do plan give suggestions

I’m a catastrophic thinker as well. There have been several times I’ve been convinced I have hiv. My recent time was having slept with m ex wife who I later discovered was a needle drug user and had slept with other druggies. Between sleeping with those high risk people and needle drug user I assumed she was at high risk. After sleeping with her about 2 weeks later I had all over body aches among other symptoms. I was sure I had it. I was too scared to get tested. Finally worked up the nerve to test a year and a half later and it was negative.

You don't have HIV, you're negative. If she's undetectable (on treatment), your risk was zero (there is no way she could transmit). If she's not on treatment, depending on her viral load, the odds of a woman transmitting to a man are 1 in 2500 exposures. I'm not sure why you are scared, you don't have it. Let it go and move on with your life. :)

I'm a sexually active gay man in a big city. Now I'm very careful and always use condoms but I wasn't always that way. There was a time I was so paranoid I was having all kind of crazy symptoms: from yeast infections to night sweats. I was terrified and then the results were negative. I get scared every now and then even though I'm much more careful than I used to and I still get tested twice a year. I guess that's part of being a responsible adult now.
Thank you for these videos, I was told that there’s a rapid test that pricks your finger and it can detect it after 30 days instead of having to wait 3 months. Is this true?
Test results will always depend on viral load.
Most rapid test are conclusive after 3 months. If you want a test that’s a bit accurate after 30 days would be the 4th generation blood test. It’s conclusive (so I’ve heard) at 6 weeks. However, most guidelines say 3 months just to be sure!

I google the symptoms and I was going crazy, so I went to the emergency because of anxiety they took blood samples just to find out there was troponin in my blood due to, too my worrying I spend 6 days in the hospital, I am hiv negative please don't drive yourself crazy like I did just get tested.

Anxiety is real, and freaking me out, I had condomless sex with this beautiful young woman, but I learned from her cousin that she was born hiv positive, i asked her about this but she first denied,a day or two days later she called me and said it is true, she was born hiv positive ,she was afraid of telling me, she has been on medication for 3 years, but I'm freaked out, I am 100% heterosexual, i don't know the odds to be tested positive,I'm waiting for 4 weeks to go for testing,...but most of your videos have helped me relaxe
Relax my dear. If she is on medication she is undetactable. There is no chance transfer if you are hetero. You are safe.

I don’t know but I find this person writing to you so rude and insensitive. To burden you with her BS is so outrageous to me. You have the patience of a saint. When she started listing her symptoms I wanted to reach through the screen and slap her. I’m a heterosexual woman living with HIV and I just couldn’t image people shoving their crap down my throat like this. Anyway I’m glad I found your channel because like you said most people don’t talk about it and I rarely ever hear of women my age living with HIV. Also you’re not wrong. I’ve been with my husband for 20 years and he’s negative and we don’t use condoms. So yeah a woman passing it to a man is practically zero.

Guys please please stop freaking out. HIV is extremely rare and is mostly diagnosed among IV needle drug users and gay or bisexual men. I freaked myself out for a year thinking i had HIV and started to stress my mind out and i develop every single symptom of HIV and it controlled and ruined my life. I didn’t sleep or eat and i was planning my suicide. When i got tested i came out NEGATIVE despite having every symptom including mouth sores and oral trush. When you give your mind the power to do this you will develop symptoms and it will cause you to spiral. Please just stop freaking out and get tested to put your mind at ease. And stop bothering people who are diagnosed with HIV about your paranoia.

@@zackattack406 I had joint pain, muscle pain, oral thrush, mouth sores, sore throat, coughing, swollen lymph nodes and TMI- but a yeast infection. I still turned out negative and the symptoms i was experiencing are due to something else unrelated. Believe the test because if you’re negative you’re negative especially after that many months. It’s not hiding in your body it’s not there - as jennifer says

Hi, I had my first sexual experience back in February and the girl I was with had so many symptoms and very sick for a while and I also received many symptoms(especially itchy throat, oral thrush and mouth sores) I was using protection and removed it later but I’ve been having anxiety since March. You should wait at least 2-3 months after a potential exposure and then wait another 3 months after that to do a second test. Good luck and stay safe!

Ive read atleast 35 days. But apparently even that is not enough. I think there's a practical timeline and the conservative timeline which is standard 3 months from cdc. But people say that's for 3rd gen tests.
Isaiah, my local clinic said the 4th gen test is accurate 30 days after last possible exposure.
Why not just take the test???..if you suspect you might have it dont just say it was only an anxiety thing and maybe hallucinating...just go find out
Hi Jennifer! Respect for your work! I have some questions, pls answer me...: about 2 years ago i had all, but all specific symptoms (including weigh loss 7kg). From that moment i done 5 Eclia 4th test hiv1,2 and all go negative. A recent p24 separatly test is negative and i ve made about 8 mth ago a wb test for hiv 1 which was also negative.... My problem persist because even in present i have a joint paint (arthrites) ramain at a lower level in regard infection moment, i have a visible nail inflamation by white marks on the top of nail and splinter lines, a little corner crack of mouth...but my f partener which had some symthomas at that 2 y ago moment, in present have a permanent scalp inflamation, and rhynite (her nose permanent flu)...my consourn is if it poaaible to be a rare strain of hiv 1 becauae the eclia/elisa test here can detect just Hiv 1 M and O, not P or N rare strain...( but here i beleive P and N have the same structure and antigen as M or O...no?) or if is possible to be Hiv 2 by a very low level of viremya?! Or if there was/is low (not detectable level) maybe antibody are not enought produces to react?! I mention that after that infection i done a fenotyping and cd4 was 1190 cells but cd8 was over limit at 1200(800 beeeing maximum) and i repeat the test a year ago and than was in normal limits cd 8 at 780 but cd 4 was 996 cells...but cd4/cd8 was higher second time...was 1.4 in regard with inflamation time where was 1.04...so it is so hard for me to can not know and find what infection i have....also hbs, hcv, hba are negative, toxoplasma etc negative...a single igg test from ebv a year ago was 60 times over limit...but ebv is so common infection..and the analysis was an igg...also at infection time, igm for lyme was incert but wb for lyme go strong negative...so...i am so confuse and very consourn..thank you very mouch for your response😀

The issue is that there is mixed information even till this day in 2021 , some HIV professionals say 3-6 months window period some others say 1 year to be conclusive negative results... some say yes you can get it from a woman and also thru oral sex others say no it’s a slim chance ....
So you get anxiety from the mix info since you don’t know who to believe 🤷🏻♂️

Anxiety can causes many mild to severe somatic symptoms (anxiety/panic can make you feel like you can experiencing signs and symptoms of an ailment or injury). There are hundreds. Some of those symptoms that people attribute to HIV could be CAUSED by the anxiety about HIV.
I think sometimes people can get addicted to anxiety so they don’t have to look at the rest of their life.
This woman could have just gotten a couple of instant 20 minute tests for free in the mail. No blood, just take an oral swab.
Whatever it comes back as, then go and take a blood test (or donate blood).
Boom. You’re done.

usually acute symptoms only last for a few weeks... go get checked out and mention that you may have been exposed to hiv but tell them your symptoms and your length of symptoms. You probably don't have it. What are your symptoms?

@@wildae_jean3569 im negative it was all stress as soon as i found out majority of my symptoms stopped immediately so i know it was me making myself freak out. i literally wasted a year stressing about it. i honestly thought i would never be typing this but if you are going through this i highly suggest testing i spoiled so many good moments of my life because i diagnosed myself. chances are you dont have it especially if youre a straight guy! (no offense to those who may be gay or bi) Thanks to Jennifer for all her help as well! if you see this thanks

I tested negative at 22 days post exposure and really finding it hard waiting on day 90 to test again. With out your content my stress levels would have been worst. THANK YOU SO MUCH

This is true i have symptoms though. I test negative after 9 months on a HIV 4th generation test. I have swelling under my ribs. I googled it abnormal swelling is an HIV symptom. Is it possible HIV could take a year or more to show up in my blood? 😕 confused please help. Doctor's find no cause for swelling And i seen alot people with HIV say they have swollen abdomen. So it is possible that a HIV 4th generation test missed it after 9 months? I also had an rna test perviously. Can HIV hide from test I'm in panic mode (275 days )9 months should be long enough???????
@miguel are 4th generation test really reliable at 21 days? . I did a test at 23 days and still freaking out .

hi jennifer...i have take 4 generation cmia ab/ag test at 6 weeks after exposure...the result was non reactive...is it conclusive or i have to take test 3 to 6 month....i'm very scared now...
Hiii it’s recommended to get tested 3 months after a potential exposure and then another 3 months after that to confirm your status! good luck and stay safe!
@@maryperez5327..i read and ask about 4th generation ab/ag test are conclusive at 6 weeks...some doctor tell 3 month is conclusive..some said 6 month...im very confuse..some doctor and counselor tell that i have no risk in my exposure..some doctor tell low risk...my anxiety really killing me right now..😭
@@nazgemoks3174 seriously! There's Dr Tan and some UK resource websites that say 99% by 4 weeks with 4th gen tests. But not sure myself. As a policy, people just want to be over precautions which is fine but im still looking for a practical timeline for 4th gen test.
@@adityaverma2492 ...here in goverment clinic says that windows period is 3 to 6 month...they use finger prick test that detect antibody only...but i also read dr tan say 28 days is conclusive using a 4th generation ag/ab test...i also have taken a cmia 4th generation ag/ab test at 6 weeks after exposure and came back non reactive...the doctor said normally if test taken after 6 weeks using cmia test is ok already...but take another test at 3 month for conclusive result...thats why im very confuse now...

I don’t know if they have HIV but for sure this lady’s health is not okay if she has digestive problems, skin rashes, warts etc...so many things can lead to this. I have a different autoimmune condition that is not transmitted through sexual activity and I’ve dealt with all of the issues listed. I dunno...instead of just saying “welp, that has nothing to do with HIV...” it would be more helpful to suggest “You should go get a checkup for your health.” It could be any number of conditions including Crohn’s, Hashimoto’s, Grave’s...or a combination of a number of things. The main point is...if a person feels unwell...especially for weeks, months, or years...go get some blood tests run! Yeah, don’t be afraid...knowledge is power...but why sit around waiting and letting a condition fester? Better safe than sorry. And I think it’s important to point out (as you did using different words) that HIV is no longer a death sentence...there was a time when it was. But the public perception was never focused on or changed so many of us who grew up with that message have it engrained in us. So if, “worst case scenario” (which it’s not) this woman does have HIV...it’s manageable.

@@stratovariusforever1724 hi, I may have messaged you elsewhere sorry. Is 8 weeks also a reliable time for 4th gen test? I ask this because I've read somewhere that after antigen declines there could be another window period where antibodies aren't enough to be tested. So the efficacy of 4tg gen test is high at 3-5 weeks when Ag is present but after that it all depends on how well your body responds to those Ag by way of Ab. I hope I'm able to covey my doubt

I have serious anxiety question I had sex with a girl only girl I have ever had sex with I’m straight male she’s had sex multiple times not a lot but few and said she was clean idk tho and I’m just going by her word I was unprotected and got a test a month later and it’s negative for antibody and tested for other stds all negative I think I’m panicking with anxiety can’t stop lose appetite from constant worry and can’t enjoy things am I freaking out
