I had the 8.1 series. Some differences with the Polydome midrange and no rear Emit tweeter but had rotary dials on the back to boost or reduce mid and highs. Awesome speakers!
I worked at Best Buy, got a great deal as an employee on a pair of kappa 9 directly from the factory. Drove with David Hafler DH-500, so awesome. I think the 9s were like 1.2 ohms. But 4ea 12" were fricken crazy.
@@briansimmons5363 ya the 9's could drop below 1 ohm with bass extension activated! I hope to one day find the 9's and then I'd sell my 8's although my amplifier would probably disagree and rather me keep the 8's 😂
I remember seeing these at a small used record slash vintage audio for $300 and they were in good shape. That's back around 2013 when you could still get a lot of vintage gear cheap.
@@daytonszalay1993 yes that place doesn't have anything anymore and if they do they are expensive. But I remember being amazed when I saw those speakers and was thinking about buying them but my pioneer sx 650 wouldn't been able to drive them
I wouldn't really agree with that I personally think these are better made and sound better than tons of high end speakers that I've come across but sound is subjective
Yeahh..this ones a friend of my has for years!! Beautiful sounding and looking speakers!! Try it with a Macintosh MA5300😜👌👍...( I don't own by the way..), so you have some "juice" ..

infinity was an excelent brand, in the 80´s bought a 200watts speakers that had a very clean but powerfull sound, to my Stasis power amplifier
I have a pair. Got a killer deal…. Driving with a dbx bx3. Set to bridged. Drives very nicely but yes, can still go into protection at higher volumes.
Yupp I don't use the bass extension much just to be safe
Those are some nice looking speakers, I bet they sound just as good as they look
Oh man they are fantastic!
Lovely speakers. I like infinity, I have the SL-40's in a 4th system.
I love these guys, very happy to own them

@@BostonMike68 ya sadly COVID caused the prices to spike but they are coming back down a bit due to the weak economy

Very nice speakers ...You are just one lucky guy...

i also could see the B&W similar to mine in the back, 800´s
@@RUfromthe40s yes I have a video on them, subscribe if you arnt and keep up to date with all the audio videos I put out ! Thanks for watching
what is the purpose of the rear tweeter?
Good question! It's called bi polar design and the sound reflects off the rear wall creating a more multi dimensional sound.
Probably designed with orchestral music in mind.
the sniffles are too much on headphones
😂 my bad man
@@daytonszalay1993 i still watched, cool gear. Much want. Have a great day sir.
@rootbeer4888 much appreciated! Thanks for the support, I'll work on the sniffles haha
Infinity is more of a knock off type of brand. There is a lot better speakers out there for a lower cost.

Not back then. They were cutting edge.
