Thank you so much, dude. For the longest time I couldn't play this game because of that flashlight emulation bug. I'm not sure if it was fixed in a PCSX2 update or if the texture pack helped but either way I can finally enjoy it again.
I always prefered the PSP version, because the added details gave Travis an entirely different vibe. His PS2 face always looked really hard. Made him instantly unlikable. The PSP version, due to a lack of detail had some softness to it.
Yeah, I agree. Off course, there's always going to be that guy who stumbles into the comments section, accusing me of committing sacrilege. It's usually a console fanboy.
Yeahh totally.. I tried to play this game but the noise filter just made the whole game laggy and the flashlight he used just not in the screen fully. Very irritating until I gave up and ended up deleting it.
honestly the noise filter looked fine if using the equipment of the time. Ps2 and CRT in 480i it actually gave it a good vibe but anything else it looks like crap. At least it's not like the dithering in the Ps1 Silent Hill cause that looks terrible no matter what you use, you pretty much have to use all the features of Duckstation at max settings to make that game not hurt your eyes lol.
How i Wish that Konami must Release this on PC Version instead of Console, as i watched this video the graphics was so impressive with the help of the game patches & it looks like running smoothly though it only runs on Emulator
I tried to play Silent Hill Origins emulated about 10 years ago. A few hours into the game I got a hard crash with the emulator. Going back to a previous save and trying to check/uncheck every setting in the emulator made no difference. Hope its better now.
I'm sorry but those AI upscaled textures are awful, especially with anything involving text. You also didn't mention how the PS2 version has severe issues like missing sounds, lower quality audio, sounds don't loop properly, and other bugs. The PSP version is the way to go.
PPSSPP works well even on my PC, which isn't the greatest. I'm considering the Gold version, because i wouldn't mind supporting their work, they've done a great job with it. And it has certain benefits or improvements as i understand it. I especially want to show support because we have a translation community, which has made it possible to play games which otherwise would never have been localized. And considering the lazy attempts at "HD collections" we get. I'd like to play MGS 3 as it *should* be. Now if they'd just let us have more PC versions, on steam for example. We can do what they won't. Unfortunately, games like Silent Hill 2... because of voice actors and all. There's issues. But if you have the PC version of Silent Hill 2, then you can play the best possible version of that game.
In my case patch with no noise function is not working! BUT I read info about when you completed game you'll get an extra options in menu that has this NO NOISE position. So I downloaded PS2 save and inport it to PCSX2 via mymc program. Work like a charm!
UPD: Also I find out why yours patch didn't work for me and other few dudes. Reason is individual CRC identificator. In my case it 5768CDD5 so that's why A8D83239.pnach didn't work! You must to find out your CRC at the properties of the game and rename this patch to name you'll find! 5768CDD5.pnach in my case. Or you can create txt file and paste in this lines: gametitle=Silent Hill - Origins [SLUS-21731] (U) comment=Patches/Codes Hacked By Maori-Jigglypuff [Savas Guercebe] // Noise Filter [Off] patch=1,EE,00338998,word,00000000 patch=1,EE,0033E700,word,00000000 // No black Bars patch=1,EE,00183548,word,24020000 //60fps patch=1,EE,006B3474,word,00000001 // Screen remains correct when // Cutscene/Dialogue appears patch=1,EE,0033E72C,word,00000000 After done this just save your file with name of your CRC code and .pnach at the end. PC has tons of bugs and there's no unofficial patches yet, but you can still beat the game. gamecube has 3 cutscenes that are muted and audio in upgrade gain screen is glitching (happening in real console), overall the game plays fine. PS2 is decent one and there's no bugs. in pcsx2 i recommend overclocking ''EE Cycle Rate'' for smooth experience. Xbox is the best one because it has extra content and DLC, but emulator sucks at this time

Create a text file and save it as portable.ini. The text file doesn't need any text inside. When you run PCSX2 again, the required folders and files will be created inside PCSX2.

the game looks very good without noise filter, what were they thinking not having option to remove it

there's an option to remove it but you have to beat the game to unlock it
The PS2 version has several audio bugs that compromise the experience, in addition to some environments being extremely dark and difficult to see.
