They mainly use single fire rifles, have paratroopers with automatic rifles, have emplaced machineguns, and wear plain kakhi uniforms with steel helmets. I imagine they're WW2 to Vietnam era. But by the sound of it they're future humans that crashed on this planet and had to climb back up the technological ladder.
We are obviously missing some crucial information for this story to make sens but still. The elves could obviously understand humans and I would guess humans could also communicate with them so why did they start the war. And if humans have gone full xenocidal why haven't they finished the job onec they had orbital support and had killed the elven supper weapon.
To my understanding, the humans on the surface with ~ww1 tech were survivors of a crash They contacted the elves to request permission to dig up stuff needed to send an SOS (probably an ftl beacon plus fuel or smth) The elves refused (likely due to the dig sites being holy ground to them) The humans then invaded and took the stuff by force before retreating and awaiting rescue By the times the elves arrived at the "human continent", the SOS (the thing that killed the council forest elf) had caused a search/rescue to be dispatched which reached the planet just in time to fight off the god-head.
The realization the elf got at the end put a smile on my face.
For the algorythems. For the author. For the superb narration. Excellent
For the author, for the algorithm !
World War 1 Magic, nice
For Agro and the algorithm!
For the story, for the algorithm!
Iornclads and dreadnoughts? What era? These must be elf words for the human ships.

@@ChrissieBear the tech sounds very WW1 to me.

It seems more like a story of (If Sauron Won in MIddle Earth - send humans and orcs to destroy all other realms.)
So that's was expedition lol what would have happened if united terra forces have landed

Pretty sure I’ve said this before but I love these fantasy setting stories
they are enjoyable
Me too, it's a refreshing shift
