    What is the process of card data encryption when it travels over network level?

  • @danman2689
    @danman2689 5 лет назад +1

    First of all thank you for your videos. They have helped me a lot! I have one question:
    You said that the Issuer has shared the ZMK with the Embosser. Since Embosser has the ZMK, he can decrypt the ZPK, so he can read the PIN that is encrypted by the PVK. Doesn't the Embosser need to know the PVK as well, so he can read the PIN?

    • @jayvador5032
      @jayvador5032 5 лет назад +1

      if I am not wrong, PVK is used to encrypt the key when it is stored with the issuer. However, when the PIN needs to be transferred to the embosser, it is decrypted at the issuer end, encrypted with ZPK which creates the PIN block. That along with ZPK encrypted with ZMK is then sent to the embosser.

    Objective: Understanding the cards payment domains/POS Transaction/E-COM etc.
    1. Are there any recommended books for stated objective?
    2. Alternatively, what is the approach you suggest to achieve the same objective?
    3. Can you suggest any blogs or website related to card payments domains?
    Many Thanks.

    If the PIN block is actually stored in the Plastic card via Embosser then how come We can dynamically change card PINs via mobile banking apps and it is not affecting the original embossed PIN block on the Plastic card?

    • @TheDomainPodium
      @TheDomainPodium  3 года назад +1

      The pin on card is updated via issuer script

      @@TheDomainPodium Hi Ramesh, Thanks for quick response! So this happens when? The next time the card is swiped are merchant Pos or ? And if that is not the case then offline Auth is will not happen until issuer script is applied to card, right?

    HSM stands for Hardware Security Module. Not the host security module. Video part 1:06

      HSM also known as Host Security Module.

    Had one query - You mean PIN offset is embossed in plastic(new card)? In that case was wondering what will happen if the person changes the PIN after he gets the new card which will lead to change in pin offset .
    Correct me If I am wrong
    Thanks

    • @TheDomainPodium
      @TheDomainPodium  6 лет назад

      Whenever we change the pin the new pin is also written back on the chip through issuer script. You can always ask any question on my website www.alltekkies.com

      @@TheDomainPodium hi may I know how issuer bank calculates pin offset . I read over internet that it is calculated by subtracting natural pin and pin chosen by customer
