  • After having a nice and crowd-free morning in Zurich, we drove about 50 minutes north to reach Rhine Falls. It is supposedly the most powerful waterfall in Europe. It is good to take your time to explore both sides of this attraction. We did and we had lunch there in between. On the southern bank there is historical Schloss Laufen to explore. A lift brings you down to Schloss Laufen am Rheinfall train station where you can also find a cruise operator nearby. On this side, there is also a great playground for the kids. For us, we took the cruise from the opposite bank of the river. We opted for the most basic of all, which brought us 2 times very near to the falls. Then we drove 2 hours south to Lucerne with some scenic pit stops in between. ibis Luzern Kriens where we checked into provided us with free tickets for zone 10. So, we took the train and ventured into town to see Spreuerbrücke. Brought some takeaways from the main train station back to our hotel for a late dinner and we called it a day.
