- A round trip on the Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway with travel on the footplate of Melior. This ex-industrial railway was once owned by Bowaters . It runs through industrial estates and wild countryside using original engines and rolling stock, from Sittingbourne to Kemsley Down station.
The railway as it was in 1962 when still owned by Bowaters is in this video from Alan Snowden: • BOWATER PAPER RAILWAY ...

Great little railway with a nice atmosphere. Although it runs through a mainly industrial landscape which is to be fair not the most picturesque, it has made the best of what it's got and seems to have a nice quirky feel to it. Very nice video, really enjoyed it.
Thanks, Duncan, glad you liked it. You can find a video of it in its' working days here.

Nice video. Hope to go there when it reopens in the spring.
Thanks Mark. I'm hoping to make a return visit later in the year.
Great video. Nice work
Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
If ever a 'drone's eye' view is required to compliment any future videos, let me know. I live in Sittingbourne.. Pete
Thanks for the offer, Pete.
yeah it looks like a line with possibilities
Meaning....?
meaning, with a clean up, and some investment in conveniences, and visiting trains, the length is ok, and theres not much competition
This is a preserved industrial railway that runs on nearly all its' original route. It also uses the original locomotives and coaches from when it served the Sittingbourne paper mills. As to facilities, thanks to serious vandalism in the past such as the burning down of the station building at Sittingbourne, they are probably not inclined to provide more than what is there..
