All three of you are wrong. The rails were added first and foremost to prevent the ball from flying past the flipper, rebounding off the apron and returning to play - particularly on a 1985 onwards game. The centre post between the flippers (when used) was a concession made by its designer to employ when his design created an abundance of balls being lost between the flippers, during its design phase - primarily as a consequence of the geometry further up the play field. Bang back prevention is done by setting the plumb bob correctly, having the coin door slam switch operating and set correctly. Fun fact as I leave you all, Data East actually celebrated a successful bang back by providing the player with a monetary score and acknowledge via the DMD. Thank you and goodnight.
Would not recommend. Most machines it won't work on and you're gonna hurt your hands and the game eventually. Death saving the right lane is a technique that is also banned in tournament but does work on most Sterns.
How is it forbidden? For just funsies play, anything that doesn't register a tilt (this is the most dangerous since it could be a Slam Tilt ending your game and erasing all your credits) is fair game. I've done this ever since I realized that the technique I used in Pinball Fantasies in 1993 would also work in real life. saved many a ball on Star Trek: The Next Generation and attack From Mars this way. But also lost a few credits. So I only did it on my last credit, and only if I had a game worth extending going, or it was my last ball.
in tournement play its not allowed, thats why its forbidden. Lazaruses on the other hand are allowed, since you dont bang the machine and physically move the machine ( the ball goes between the flippers hits a side/bottom and pops up back above the flippers). For casual play you can do it, but people wont like it
This is all good and well...but most of the time the ball has more speed and will already be gone before you can react like this. In real life this only works like less than 10% of the time imo

Pinball has an inherent 'legal' banging of the machine to help with the game that's why it has a "TILT" error when you shake the machine too much..... The picking up of the ball.... ok that maybe 'cheating' because usually pinball machines have a glass cover on the playing field.
YET ANOTHER CASE OF DIRTY PINNING..... I DONT CARE HOW BRUTAL THE OUTLANES ARE YOU DONT DIRTY PIN YA HEAR MEH YOU ADAPT AND SRUVIVE. In pinball republic Officer Tilt WILL ARREST you into prison for this kind of pinning
@@FUGP72 Yeah, on a modern Stern with a three warnings in hand you'll usually only get a double danger, but you do then need to be very, very gentle. Also depends heavily on the floor type, whether there's space around the machine, rubber foot cups, etc, etc.
The machine needs to move enough for the tilt bob to contact the ring. If you deliver the energy with short impulse, the movement given to the bob is minimal.
So that's why many tables started adding metal rails underneath flippers
Exactly.
That and it also reduces stress on the flippers when the ball hits it in its resting position.

Correct. Fake.
Damn if only I knew this a few days ago I was playing a Adams Family and it has some toxic outlanes
mamushka 😊
I own Adam’s Family and my machine barely even budges when I’ve tried it. Thing is heavy!
I only nudged the machine if the ball got stuck in a corner.
i shattered a pinball glass just like that in a café. it was embarrassing, glorious, and scary. The owner was not on santa good list...
Nice. You break the guy's table and act like he the one that did something wrong smh
Great technique when playing with some buddies. Disqualifying technique in any tournament.
that's how I have save my balls many times. . (reason why some games have a metal bar behind the flippers to prevent this.

It's called Slam Tilt All machines have this There is a sensor on the coin door If it's hit too hard whole game reset The end

[Glued a shotgun shell at the opening of 3rd coin slot and wired its primer to slam tilt switch]
Time for some new tilt switches
Looks like cheating to me.
how to break your wrists
WOW
🤔 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 ¡¡¡MAESTROOO!!!

you get kicked out of the pinball hall real fast doing this, not as fast as a death save. abuse your own machines. Not routed ones

Yes, and no.

unique

if its slight enough not to trigger the tilt then it should be fair play.... thats what nudging is all about...

why not use a super magnet at that point

If there’s no glass why doesn’t he just pick it up and pop it into the highest scoring slot?
Thats not skill & not good for the machine either.
this is cheating to be honest, and the person should be banned to play pinball unless he owns that pinball table or the place specifically allow this.
