  • Massive thanks to Werner for this album choice. I've not heard of Subsignal before, but we have listened to Sieges Even, which has a close tie to this band.

First track jumped right back into the 80's pop rock sensibilities with both feet. 😁
I don't find anything disagreeable here, but once through will be enough when it's all said and done.
Thanks for broadening our awareness, all the same! 🙂

Dude, it's fine. Tastes are different, that's just the way it is. I honestly expected you to like them more, but it doesn't take anything away from my own enjoyment , and it seems that at least a few of your listeners liked it as well, so it's all good. My next pick will be more adventurous, I promise. ;)
    Update: next pick submitted

Again, not bad and easy on the ears.

    At first, I thought « yes it’s nice but it’s not revolutionnary « .
But after listening to it a few time (without particular attention), somehow it grew on me for a reason I can’t explain… I know there is plenty of good music out here, but this album does not require an « active listening », it is by définition « good easy listening ». And for that reason I bought it in cd (not worth the vinyl édition), it reminds me of some bands like toto, it’s more like classic rock with californian rock and prog elements
I think the problem is that we usually hope for a specific type of music when we categorise bands and music. And sometimes there is a gap beetwen what we are expecting to and what we are listening when it comes to prog

Have you listened to anything from Threshold?
A UK prog power metal band. Highly recommend their 2017 release, Legends of The Shires.

OK, I'll give part 2 a go. I don't want to appear a troll (I prefer Negative Nancy) but criticism should certainly be about bringing attention to both good and bad points. Remember that 99.9% of what you play is miles better than anything I could produce but if you can find the 0.1% that isn't, I'd genuinely love to hear it!
Now: ...track 1 - The vocal part/melody was very uninspiring though the mid-song instrumental break was more my style. Didn't get a Green Day vibe but I don't like Green Day anyway. It Bites are much better than this. Track 2 - The opening is almost a copy of the bit I liked in track 1 - skip back to 7.52 and see if I'm not wrong! Again, the instrumental breaks are pretty good but I don't like the vocals. I think I'm on to track 3 but it's more of the same. Track 4 has the pleasant addition of a female vocalist but I'm not sure they needed to mellow out in quite the way this did. All OK but I won't be seeking out any more.

    Hi Jim,
Well, the first song is better than everything I heard yesterday. It has tempo, excitement. The singing was and is still very good.
2nd song. Nice start of the song. The rest is good. This has more energy and a is lot more interesting and has some louder guitar playing.
3rd song. Not that interesting this song. The energy drinks are wearing off and it’s on the way back to the stuff from side one.
4th song. 🥱 same stuff as on side one.
5th song. Quite boring although the woman’s voice lifts it up. But it could have been so much better with a bit of drama in it; a louder part that slowly fades out.
Overall this side is a lot and I mean a lot better than side one. But only the first two songs are really good and after that 🥱😴
No, I won’t buy this album because the whole album isn’t exciting enough. Too mainstream, too smooth.
Not at all the same as IQ. IQ’s music is rougher and yes, darker.
This is more like Styx; very polished, technically very good but overall quite tame.
