Well my friend. Same boat same experience. Ived trained my hair 5 years now for the slick back look. Done it a lot but always, the back of my head middle part separates. I use Suavecito Hard Hold low shine. Used it in combination with Got2BGlue, and hair spray sometimes. It works... but sucks knowing how much damaged/abuse my hair is going through. I finally give up and will work with the middle part than to fight it. Just, all the hair styles come up to like the guy in the video... hence Im Here... i need something for chruch, not for tiktoc
I found that combing your hair all back and then when its damp, applying a leave in conditioner, then clay how you did it gives the same results without blowdry damage. Just form it how you want it on the damp hair and you’ll keep the volume and everything while having healthy silky looking hair

I'll always tell him to leave as much length as possible at the parietal ridge (look it up if you don't know what I'm talking about) then just a taper on the back and sideburns and a little bit past my eyes on the fringe :))

Wavy hair is actually ideal for this style. Mines too straight! When I filmed this it was about 10cm on top and I’d grown it for about a month so should be easy enough!

Your hair has to be long enough to reach the bottom of your nose, or your top lip I think

You can ask your barber to take the hair off your ears without taking length off the back and sides. Hope this helped :)
