Butlins Minehead Tour 2024 | Building the Skypark | Let's explore Minehead Butlin's Funfair at night

- Journey around Butlin's Minehead with me. Visiting during the Easter holidays in 2024, I saw lots of changes and lots of building works. There appears to be a massive amount of investment into the site. Most noticeably creating the new Skypark and the new Play Experience.
As I was staying during the school holidays there was a late night fun fair and I had chance to see the chair o plane, helter-skelter, carrousel, dodgems and tug boat ride all lit up.

I used to work there from 2014 - 2017 and I still miss it
It's such a great place to have a holiday. It sounds like it was also a good place to work

@@jeesmunn2011 Ah! I can see how that wouldn't be fun. Did you get to see any of the bands at the Big Weekenders? I always think the people who work in the Fish and Chip shop have a great view of the bands, even if they dont want to see them.

I used to go from the 70s until 1985. I went on 1999 and it was terrible. Outside pool gone. Monorail gone. Cable cars gone. All the competitions like dancing and fancy dress, talent shows gone. Just a pavilion with a big empty space inside. And an Irish pub that didn't sell Guinness.

that playxperience is gonna skyrocket the cost of a holiday to butlins - have you seen the token prices? you could holiday for a week in the USA for the cost of a day at playxperience lol - keyword? let's say Butlins ?
Eek! I've not seen how much they are but can imagine. Especially with a family group or perhaphs a tipsy group of friends at one of their Big Weekenders I'm interested to see what it'll be like though.

I'm guessing they will be able to put it up quite quickly as most of the groundwork looked complete

How long are you going for? ...have you booked your entertainment? ...I dont know what I want to do until I get there so I'm a bit worried if we can leave it for now. We got an email saying center stage won't be open for us.

I would have loved to see it in the 70s with the ouside pool, monorail and cable cars! I remember Warner and then Haven Holidays having that sort of entertainment in the 90s! I've never tried to buy a Guinness there but I did spot from this year they are offering unlimited drinks packages which doesn't sound like it will end well. 😬😬
the bar was Jakes that was open till 2am ( they lost the licence to run it)
Ah!! I thought it might have been flood damage. Are the other venues still allowed to stay open late? I remember the big music weekends going into the early hours

My first visit was 2016 or 2017.
It would be great to hear what the park was like at that time. Am I right in thinking the swimming pool used to be in the building near the fun fair / entrance thats now going to be the play experience.

Has the golf completely gone?!
Yes, unfortunately. And the little green area that used to have the deckchair for photo opps. But the deckchair is now over the other side by the sports courts.
There is a mini golf in Minehead town near the railway. But i heard a few familys walking round the corner to find the mini golf at Butlins gone
