Even with a neurological deficit that you have to work around, you still play circles around your contemporaries. It's crazy. And not just in technique, but in, I guess for lack of a better term, the "feel" of the music too. Highly technical guitar that doesn't sound like masturbatory noodling is a godsend to listeners everywhere. Thank you for all the joy you provide us fans, sir.

You're my favorite guitarist of all time Chris. Not only because of your amazing riffs & solos, but also because you're still able to shred like hell despite your trouble with your condition.
The fact that you've regained all your skills and changed your left hand technique completely is amazing.
by the way, please make a video on riffwriting/songwriting

I have been depressed and honestly put my guitar away for a really long time after suffering this disorder. I can’t play past 2 mins if I’m making a guitar cover and it always pisses me off as my fingers get curled up especially some parts when stretch is needed. Thanks for motivation Chris. Will try out this gloves hopefully it helps for me.

I figured that it was focal dystonia-related, I just didn't know the exact function of the glove. The fact that you're one of the top metal guitarists today despite this disorder says a lot about your dedication and discipline; never give that up.

Just discovered your various projects/bands tonight and I am blown away. I'm especially impressed with how much you are able to minimize your movements. I have been working on this a lot recently, partly because I suffer from a connective tissue disorder called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome which heavily increases the risk of overuse injuries in my muscles. Did you specifically work on minimizing movement to combat the issues you've had? You are a massive inspiration and I will be watching your playthroughs to better my own playing (as well as to hear some awesome tunes). I teach music for a living and I hope that someday I can inspire musicians at the level you do.
P.S. Have you tried a Strandberg guitar? I'd be curious to hear if you think the neck profile assists your playing in any way. I switched to Strandbergs after playing mostly Jackson and Ibanez and I feel it lets me play comfortably for longer periods.

I know this video is old, but I just want to let you know that I am dealing with psoriasis on both hands, right on my fingertips... THE worst place to get it for a guitarist. I've been so depressed about it and feel like I may lose part of myself if I can't play guitar anymore. Then I came across your channel and noticed your wearing a glove AND you are also an amazing player WITH the glove on which make's me feel soooo much better about being able to continue playing guitar. I won't let the psoriasis win, I have to work around it and your playing/videos inspire me to keep pressing on. I'll be ordering a few of these gloves ASAP.

So important to take care of human body! I might try this out myself, at least of curiosity, even tho I don't really have any real issues with guitar since "surviving" tendonitis strain injury from guitar "overpractice" a few years back.
But, because of that I also wear grip gloves as a drummer because without my hands/fingers hurts very quickly.
It never happened as younger but eh... older and more broken, I guess. Haha
