- Knock Out is researching Ratchet's synthetic Energon formula, having recovered a sample, and is using Silas (who is still implanted within Breakdown's corpse) as a test subject. The formula makes Silas extremely aggressive, so Starscream suggests injecting him with Dark Energon to make him easier to control. However, the mixture of the two Energons turns Silas into a mindless zombie craving fresh Energon, and he wanders the ship infecting any crew member he encounters by draining their Energon. The situation is made even worse when he frees Airachnid from her stasis pod and she takes control of the Insecticons.
I like how Megatron just chats with the Decepticons every now and then
Lord Megatron only chats that long with those closest to him; Decepticons such as Shockwave, Soundwave, and some others who have successfully pleased him time and time again with many things such as victories, taken every single order without as so much as a word, and showing legitimate and true undying loyalty to our cause deserve a special spot in his spark.

Speaking of power, in the Transformers: Prime game, many of the characters had a LOT MORE power than they did in the show. For example, Knockout had arm blasters and a massive drill in one of his arms, and Soundwave could double the size of his arms and shoot sonic blasts from them. Same applies to Ratchet, since he had blasters and a mega-sized wrench in the game as well.
Then again, none of the games are canon.

He is a doctor. He knows how to handle a pandemic.
Also, Knock Out remaining in favor with Megatron doesn't really mean a whole lot if the entire crew ends up as Energon-draining Terrorcons. Starscream doesn't have the hindsight to realize that.

@@Gibransazo Nope. For the most part, Silas was still pretty much in control. In contrast to the Vehicons who became zombies, Silas was more like a drug junkie.

That’s because Starscream was a scientist in G1 and his null rays’ firepower was basically the equivalent of a small EMP blast. His armor wasn’t battle grade either, but that didn’t stop him one bit.
If you thought Cliffjumper went through a lot, you probably never knew Breakdown. Cliff at least had a quick end.
Technically cliff was also turned into a monster, but ya breakdown got it worse

I love how this is the most flustered we ever see Soundwave, and all he does is clench his fist. And then after, just walks away like this is just his normal 1pm task. I wish we had seen the explanation to Megatron why they lost half their troops though!

It says a lot about the credibility Shockwave has with Megatron. Shockwave never seems the type to give excuses but genuine explanations, immediately tries to fix them, and is totally upfront about it. Megatron seems to genuinely respect someone trying hard and getting results, so he's probably fine giving Shockwave a mulligan once in a while.
Cause he knows Airachnid shouldn't be out of stasis. It was fine till a zombie was let loose on the ship, so getting rid of the whole hive was to ensure the infection was contained.

Having Starscream on their side have been more costly for the Decepticons than any Autobot attack could inflict.
Soudwave being so smart and powerful make me question why he is so loyal to Megatron.

by gutting their forces, megatron had to speed up project predacon, and we know how that went.
without the troop numbers, it made storming the nemesis easier, and lead to soundwave being out of the picture and megatron's death.

This show as a whole had a decently advanced diction. Optimus, Megatron, and Ratchet being some of the most intelligent.

No they didn't. It was never mentioned again. Unless it was some comic, like when Predaking made a one page only cameo that served no purpose other then to say he was still alive.
Edit: I found what you were referring to, but it is simply a Deviant Art Comic called Insecticons: Survival. Fan made. Not canon.
Originally they were supposed to be Unicron's army in the movie before the change was made to Predacons (I think the change was Hasbro's doing).
@@wd3185 I can’t help but agree. Over the years I’ve started to feel like the whole Predacon inclusion to the show was definitely Hasbro’s doing, since Predaking’s the only one characterized in the show before the movie.
Yet there were dozens of Predacon toys being sold before the 3rd seasons first official trailer. I feel like the showrunners wanted to get more ambitious with their own stories but Hasbro wanted to bank on that Beast Wars nostalgia
EDIT: I still love this show and each season, having such damn good moments, but I’ve started to notice the cracks in some parts of the story

What i find interesting about this episode that it's focused entirely on the bad guys.
This episode was one of the shows highlights, perfect mixture of scary, action packed, and hilarious
Gosh watching Silas beg for his life is still chilling and yet so satisfying. He was a true cold blooded menace and seeing someone so calm and collected plead like that and literally die on screen really stuck with me as a kid

@@andresrodrigue7681 yeah, Starscream actually did a pretty good job at leading in this show, he had some victories and still some defeats, not to mention he didn't abuse his soldiers but actually had some respect for them and he even nearly killed Optimus, essentially he did more in 2 months than Megatron did in 200 years

@@lokekennee8850 cause the insecticons are decepticons. They don’t hate Airachnid, she just have some form of mind control ability on them that is unexplained. As we see in orion pax 3, Megatron reacts to when the insecticon on cybertron wakes up from stasis when Jack and Arcee go to vector sigma.

This version of the synthetic energon wasn't exactly the completed formula.

You know looking into this episode further it’s interesting to think about if the terrorcons actually would be under megatrons control if it wasn’t for the synthetic energon maybe megatron dispite losing most of his fodder soldiers could easily replenish them with zombies if necessary
He did do that remember? The first season he revived a whole bunch of them but never really got the chance they got blown up. Plus they wouldn’t really do much unless they had the synthetic energon which was the problem in the first place

You know what? The vehicon troops have declined in number due to the battles with the Autobots over the years AND due to the undead Silas yet I've always wanted to know where Megatron keeps getting the troops from because he has a seemingly endless supply. His ship isn't big enough to fit (possibly) millions (if not billions) of vehicon troops on board and I doubt he secretly has some stashed all across Earth so, again, where do the troops keep coming from?
I also wanna know what happened to Airachnid and the Insecticons after that episode.
There's a theory that Megatron has something like a building line on the "Nemesis" for these troops, since they are basically giant walking roombas with guns and an artificial substitute for a real Spark

The way how Silas (or Cylas) Breakdown and infected Decepticon henchmen opened their toothy tongues reminds me of the xenomorph alien and predator
Kinda surprised that they didn't do anything else with this after this episode considering the autobots eventually win the war I wonder what happened to her.
She more than likely died on that moon due to an eventual lack of energon to consume. The insecticons weren’t infinite and she probably ran out of them fast.
I think there was a comic, how Arachnid lured remaining insecticons from planet to the moon with her "Bluetooth connection to them" but some of them were not happy about it, they knew it was practically doom and were trying to deny her will and find a cure to this plague.

Hahaha okay I'm officially in love with this episode. Out of a few of them, this one was actually a little bit adorable as well as funny.
