What's the difference between Interactive Supervised Classification and Maximum likelihood classification?
Not asking about the process, just asking the real reason they are termed different even though we prepare training samples for both of them.

Although this is up to a year, maybe you have come across how to do it but for the sake of others, go to ArcToolboxdata> management> open raster > copy raster then follow the steps and run that should remove the black background

Thank you very much fot the tutorial. I would like to know if there is a mathod to clip the landsat image before the classification since it is a MLT file. I was trying to use the clipping tool, however the Multispectral layer does not appear on the input features and it won't let me load the MLT file as imput.

I don't think you can clip them using ArcGIS, maybe try Erdas Imagine if you have it, that's how I clipped my images

I encountered the same issue. Try zooming into the image and take smaller size training data sets. It works!
