- Find out more about Julian Alvarez’s early life and career as our new striker welcomes us into his family home in Argentina.
The forward, who officially joined City in January, arrived in Manchester earlier this month after spending the second half of last season on loan at River Plate.
Before making the move to England, the 22-year-old opened the doors of his home to our cameras so we could find out how he became the man and player he is today.
We hear from his mother and father, Mariana and Gustavo, and brothers Rafael and Augustin who regale us with tales of trials with Real Madrid and the attributes which earned him the nickname ‘Spider’.

Tiene la técnica europea, en conjunto con la garra y la habilidad sudamericana. Además, fue entrenado por dos de los mejores 3 técnicos del mundo actualmente (Gallardo y Guardiola). @@skywalker2230 Creo que viste la foto de una prueba en Boca como la tuvo en el Madrid. Por lo que veo hay varias fotos de muy chiquito con la de River. Igualmente puede haber casos como Cagna, Bianchi, Pavon que eran hinchas del clásico rival y el profesionalismo lo cambia todo. O acaso Maradona no era de Independiente. O el Pipi Romagnoli es de Hiracan. O la chancha Mazzoni es de Racing. Creo que nosotros no lo entendemos del todo porque estamos del lado del hincha. Ahora cuando desde muy chico estás intentando ser jugador, ese sentimiento se termina dejando de lado.

As an Argentine, and even more so as a River Plate fan, I am very proud of Julián. I assure you that it will not disappoint, it has a lot of potential. He has the European technique, together with the claw and the South American ability. In addition, he was trained by two of the best 3 coaches in the world today (Gallardo and Guardiola). And another interesting fact, all the first cups he played, he won (libertadores, Argentine cup, America cup, Argentine league). Is the champions coming for City?
