It's absolutely amazing just how much detail every single sea creature has ! We tend to see them as the most simplistic forms of life, yet they are so very complex and detailed.
I think one of the things that make these videos so enjoyable to watch is these people are clearly very interested in their job and they love what they do. That makes a huge difference in a video.

Anyway, I have come to greatly appreciate your videos of my ultimate dreams, furthermore, I never would have imagined an octopus burrowing in the sea floor for cover. Just amazing!!
Bad decisions and other "life choices" blew away my dream of becoming a Meteorologist. I guess the two laser points are for scale/measurement. Whats the length? Btw, I love the commentaries as much as I love the videos. Thanks for doing this.
You're exactly right, they are for scale -the lasers are parallel and are set exactly 10 cm apart. They are really helpful when the only reference for an unfamiliar sea dealy is another unfamiliar sea dealy.
Interesting footage. What depths? Lat. & Long.? A major Los Angeles County sewage outfall is located at 60 m on the PV shelf and years ago before upgrades in treatment there very few sea urchins in the area.
Literally the sea life is so unreal all I can’t stop thinking about is getting to go on a research mission just to see this dark alien world of all well crafted species of life forms. All of them just as curious to examine us cause to them we are friends and food too on occasion
Does seismic activity release water dissolved methane? In the Cameroonian lakes a mud slump or local seismic event can catalyze release of large amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere with catastrophic effect on the animals and plants in the path of the resultant downhill flow.. Is there a similar process at work re: methane in the sea?
@@c.b5996 Well they all are related, coconut crabs are actually just very large hermit crabs, and as stated in the video, king crabs are hermit crab relatives that produce their own shells.

Its amazing to think...even if these animals were not being observed they would just be still doing ..what ever it is theyre doing..down there in the deep darkness of the sea. Aaamazun!
How many species predate upon crabs down there? Is the list comparable to shallow waters? What are the odds one of the Octopi observed originally consumed the bulk of the dead crab? I don't imagine anything would expend more energy than necessary moving about.
Curious as to the effect of your guiding laser points on the eyes of sea creatures with advance eyes such as octopi and sharks? I always wince a bit when I see the laser points glide right over their eyeballs.
@@c.b5996 Many lasers aren't powerful enough to actually cause damage to anything let alone some eyes of a sea creature. It's very likely they used some of that sort.
Crabs are interesting but give me the creeps the way spiders do for many people. I'm glad around here they all stay in the water where I can avoid them.

That's one of the reasons snorkelers and divers are careful when they enter the water from the shore. There are plenty of urchins that live in shallow water, although I've never seen any that are such a beautiful shade of pink.

It's like watching another planet. Everything down there is just so different.
the sea is so amazingly beautiful, im so grateful we have the availability to see this mystery
I could watch this all day, imagine being able to explore an unlimited amount of the ocean floor with these cameras x
2:43 it's a real life Sarlacc pit.
That crab was gold because it was a shiny Kingler
As yes such a rare find
k now we need the nautilus to shoot a pokeball at weird creatures
The literal Dutch to English translation of sea urchin is ''Sea Hedgehog''.
Definition of urchin
1 archaic : HEDGEHOG
Urchin or urcheon is the Middle English term for "hedgehog"
This beings me joy to know that the dutch call sea urchins hedgehogs of the sea

You ever stepped on one? Some people will have the spines in their feet for the rest of their lives. Way painful. Don't mess with these guys!
''They will F* you up'', very impressive English.
That crab was one day away from retirement, man.
They just left the decapitated limbs you make it clear that you want to stay the F* away.
Enjoy the videos. It would be a bit more interesting if you added info like depth and water temperature.
Thanks

The diversity of life is very diverse.
I wonder how these creatures perceive space and time. Everything is cold and dark down there. Do they even have a notion of time passing ?
