    I have a mild cerebral palsy and grew up in the 70s listening to Keith Emerson and remember wishing I didn't have it because my left hand doesn't have the motor skills like the average person. This synthesizer is prefect for me I can turn the nobs with my left hand and use my right hand for the keys. The sounds help me with my depression and epilepsy just like Keith Emersons music did for me. Thanks for the great video!

      Same here, similar story but i have Haemophilia and over time my joints have gotten worse and worse making it harder to play properly, synths like this would mean i could play again and as you say, escape the depression that these conditions ultimately push us into.... I'm also a victim of the contaminated blood scandal which has done its part in destroying my mental health over the years so yeah, music really is my only escape sometimes.
      Maybe one day I'll win the lottery and be able to afford a Polybrute, it's my dream synth.....as it stands most of my money goes into raising my kids so it makes it nearly impossible to save for one.
      I hope yours brings you many hours of joy though man, would be awesome to hear you play.

      BoBeats I had never really loved the Arturia stuff, the mono brutes, and the initial RUclips demo from Arturia on this one was just ok for me... then I found the demo clips on the website, then yours and loopop’s videos. Wow indeed. IMO it has its own character with the Steiner Parker filter, and the resonance is incredible, but then it even does poly moog... better than the moog one, to my ears. Preordered a few days ago, not sure when to expect it to ship in the US. Get to that Maschine + deep review btw! ;)

    Had mine for a few months now and I have to say it's the most 'musical' synth I've ever played ... the sounds it can make are so organic, warm and rich, the modulation and sound manipultion posibilities are huge and it has a lovely keybed. Add these things together and you get a real musical instrument rather than a sound playback device. You really have to try one to realise just how much of a future classic this synth is going to be ... great review btw ... I really like the way you've split the review into one video for features and functions and then one full on sounds only run through ... it's what we always need!

    • @user-cv8ud8qo9f
      @user-cv8ud8qo9f Год назад

      @esemceX It's all down to personal taste I guess but for me it's perfect for a synth, if I want a heavier feel I use my fully weighted stage piano. The only aspect of it I would criticise is the aftertouch is less controlable than on my Prophet 12, which definitely has more sensitivity in the aftertouch. But for general synth duties I find the keybed on the Polybrute is spot on.

You may find grand finale appreciating more what you heard up to the moment and hear artist last word on the the do regarding their own feel of what they just play... if you follow this abstract thought...
    YES, listened to the very end and turning to the next spin, right away. Playing session like that are so very important, we are musicians after all. One would need another instrument based bi-timbral or more polyphony needs; something sadly this product does not deliver for the price point. It may not be obvious, but several competitors in this space have set the bar for a poly to a minimum of 8 and even 16 voices. Some in this price range have even reached the summit of 16 voices and bi-timbral capabilities. A mophie and pitch bend wheel are not hard to come by these days.

    Umm.. I've read a few of the comments already made, and I can see that this is possibly a controversial viewpoint here, but I am left just a little bit underwhelmed. Yes, there are some nice-ish sounds, but nothing that grabs me. When a new synth comes out, I listen to the sound demos without watching them - just as a background. On several occasions in the past, I have had to switch away from what I was watching, back to the synth demo because there was a sound that made me go "wow!". Sadly, this didn't happen once in this video, and yes, I listened to it to the end. Twice. (I also watched Loopop's review of this synth with the same result!)
    Bo, I love your demos, they are always among the best on here. On the basis of your Wavestate demo, I went out and got one. That machine is a wonder, with amazing sounds and a great control surface that lets you noodle away for hours producing sounds that go way beyond any of the factory presets in a matter of moments. The PolyBrute, on the other hand, sounds somewhat thin (Blofeld-like) and, with the price-tag it's sitting at, terribly overpriced. Yes, there's the morphe pad - but I already have an Expressive E Touche and that will work with any synth. And there's the ribbon - but I have the Hydrasynth, where the implementation seems a whole lot more well thought out - and the Hydra has better sounds as well as poly aftertouch at pretty much half the price.
    I really, really wanted to love this synth - I always have to grab new gear when it comes out - but this one is a "miss" rather than a "hit" from me, I'm afraid. But thank you for the video - it's the efforts of guys like you and Loopop that guide me in my purchasing choices - in this case, saving me a couple thousand GBP! Keep up the great work.

      Hi Bill, I guess to fall in love with a synth is similar as to fall in love with a person 💕... one has to be on the same "wavelength"... it's all about resonance... it's only the right choice uf your heart loves it...

      @WolfgangSenges 3 года назад +2

      Thanks for that! This is *exactly* what I have been thinking. The PolyBrute is easily not my cup of tea. It's just... not impressive.

    • @MrClarkio
      @MrClarkio 3 года назад +1

      I also agree. I like a hardware synth to have attitude, it's why even though I own a novation peak normally find myself using the behringer neutron, such a filthy beast!. It's a little bit gimmicky as well with its touch strip and etouche alike control. Interesting what you say about the wave state as well. Out of interest fur the wavestate, if you were making a patch from scratch from the init preset, how long on average do you think it would take?

    • @billyruss
      @billyruss 3 года назад

      @@MrClarkio Regarding the Wavestate: so far, I've not tried to make one from scratch... the level of control you have over any individual sound is so great that you can create within minutes something that is almost unidentifiable as the original patch. I think the level of programming required to start from scratch would - just as with the original Wavestation, which I also owned - require a master's degree. :-)

    Bo must have seen my comment rant back on the Facebook groups lol. Jk. If I were sitting on one of these, I'd be doing the same. Just hit record and go ham. And that's exactly what we are seeing. Way to go on this demo BO! Outstanding sound. I am sold!

    Thank you for the demo.
    It's a great synthesizer and has a lot of potentials. Just one point if I may suggest, please give us a demo without any sequences or arpeggiator running.
    We would like to hear useful rich sounds for creating good music. Some examples of classic synth riffs please.
    A demo should be musically interesting to encourage me buying the synth.
    Thanks for your demo.

      My suggestion as well: not so many mono/arpeggiator patches, which the MatrixBrute can do as well. I’m a pad addict!
      Independently from this demo, but based on your and others’ first look videos I have already ordered this beast. ETA according to Thomann: 27 Nov.. Well, I’m used to postponements i’m so far ...

    I watch sound demos to the end if I find the synth/sounds new or interesting. Versatility and sound is a big deal for me, mainly because of future-proofing
    (Trying to decide on my first synth)

    Great review and demo. The sound quality of the video is superior to other demos I've seen. Other demos I've seen have bad quality and distortion. The best I've seen thus far. Thanks you for your hard work.

    Thanks for posting!! Always love your videos! Got this on order. I thought I had everything out there and this just sounds amazing and have to own one. It actually stands up to my Moog One 16V. It's more of an Oberheim sound with the filters. Sadly I sold my OBXa and OB-8, they became to expensive to maintain. This unit has much more bass end anyway. Maybe I'll give up my A6 now, who knows. Anyway, thanks for staying on top of the market!! Rix :)

    Thanks for the reviews Bo, I like your videos and am subscribed to your channel. Based on what I heard in this video I honestly don't hear anything special or creative. I own a MatrixBrute and even though it is paraphonic I can produce much more interesting sounds. I think people (and sound designers) in general get "lazy" in front of a polysynth and get more creative in front of a mono or paraphonic synth.

    :O... Arturia can make synth... On 2020 say "WoW" to an analog polysynth is rare... We ear soo many good synth, digital, analog, virtual... And is very hard to ear something that amaze us... In nothing new but all he can do is "perfect" and is very versatile...

    I am commenting per your request: In this case, I played the video while preparing, eating, and cleaning up lunch (a sandwich). So, there was some watching, mostly listening for the parts that interested me more, then watching more attentively, but to satisfy your curiosity: I did watch / listen all the way until the end. :) Thanks for the demo.

    Enjoyed this, thanks! Skipped around a little bit. This was one of the stronger polybrute videos so far in terms of demoing sounds that would be "usable" for me (not hyper aggressive).

    Sounds amazing listened to the end. Still prefer the summit. The polybrute makes me think of the Hydrasynth but with a a meatier low end.

    Love the innovation and morphing (in an analogue synth!) but for me - as with the MB - without the effects it just sounds a bit thin, brittle sounding. That said it's an amazing product and seems capable of much warmer sounds than the MB.
