I also think this applies to new phones. Phones that have been exposed to heat and cold weather I’m curious. After months of usage with exposure to driving with a phone mount in sun and any cold weather, you would think the seal might expand and contract weakening the adhesive.
The seal wears over time naturally. Only if your phone exceeded normal operating temperatures, then yes the seal will have degraded more. And you will know if it has exceeded safe temperatures as you will either have a notification pop up, the phone shuts off, or the phone disabled everything apart from emergency calling until it cools down. So if this has never happened, then your phone would have still been within safe temperatures and the seal would only experience normal rates of degradation
iPhones have been pretty water resistant for a couple generations now. I’ve showered with my phone, swam with it (fresh water, pool water and ocean water) and every time it’s been completely fine. I’ve thrown it in the deepest end of friends pools and used it under water for pictures. Rest assured. It’ll be completely fine. 100% O.K.
The only issues you might have will be muffled speakers but only for a few hours while they dry out. Y’all… don’t stress this at all. If my iPhone 7 was perfectly good. Your iPhone 13 will be FINE lol. I would avoid hot water tho but everything else is cool. It’s a phone. Relaxxxx

Well I had an iPhone 8 and that was considered water resistant as well. However the water got inside the phone and my buttons stopped working (home button too). I took it to the service where they told me that the guarantee does not include water damage issues. They disassembled my phone and dried it. The issues I had were gone, but I wouldn’t recommend trying if it really is waterproof. I have a 13 now but I still can’t trust in something that’s is theoretically waterproof. (Sorry for my bad English)

MY IPHONE 13 PROMAX SURVIVED A HOT WATER WASH CYCLE WITH SOAP!!! I couldn't find my phone after coming home from the yard. Searched everywhere before the realization sunk in that my phone got mixed up in my laundry basket ....after I JUST threw it in the washer 😭 the washer completed a double rinse with hot water and TWO spin cycles and when I started pulling my clothes out, lo and behold my precious phone was sitting in the bottom of the washer. I reached for my phone and with a pit in my stomach I picked it up and it instantly lit up! I was too stunned to speak 😂 this is my first iPhone by the way, and I spent wayyyyy too much to take a total loss so soon. At least my phone is all sparkly and clean now 😅😅😅

I recommend using a toothpick for that sort of thing.
Safer to use an air duster
It’s definitely completely waterproof. I dropped mine at a marina and it was submerged 8 feet deep in a murky river for over 12 hours before a diver could come get it out. I honestly thought it was a lost cause but needed it because I had my IDs and debit and credit cards in my wallet case. As soon as the diver handed it to me, the screen lit up like nothing happened. The speakers were of course a little muffled for a few hours and I got an error that there was water detected in the lightening connector when I tried to plug it in, and to let it dry out first, but it was still at 72% battery life so no big deal!! The iPhone 13 is 100% waterproof!!!!

Water in the charging port can actually be avoided if you have a case with a port cover.
I've been in plenty of situations where the iPhone is my only computer. So, I need it to be resilient under some pretty harsh camping conditions. If the iPhone dies on me because of the weather, I'm screwed without GPS and the compass. This demo makes me happy. The iPhone is an usually good survival tool as long as it doesn't die.

something similar happened back in like 2013 when I had the iPhone 4S. I went to the beach and was so excited to jump into the ocean only to realize my phone was in my pocket. I was even more horrified when I pulled it out of my pocket and literal smoke/steam was coming out of the bottom of the phone & speakers. Needless to say I’ve been more careful with phones ever since haha

I just dropped my phone in the water 😅😅 glad it’s working rn , I used to have a iPhone 7 a little bit of water gotten on it and it had lines all over it then it died the next day..rlly worth upgrading to newer models

To properly test an IP68 phone, you would need to submerge it in about 5 ft of water (preferably salt water) for 30 minutes. Take it out, dry it off, turn the phone off. Come back 3 days later, turn it back on and check to see that everything is working properly. Recommending that people clean the phone off by rinsing it under running water is also very bad advice. The IP68 rating is an insurance policy that should not be tested unnecessarily. If the IP68 protection fails, the manufacturer will not warranty the phone.
I would definitely not recommend washing it under the tap. Your charging port contact will corrode quickly doing that regularly.
People don’t understand corrosion still exist. Even though the phone still works, corrosion will kick in and it’ll be a matter of time before your phone dies

The iPhone 13 13Pro 13Max and 13Pro Max have a waterproof rating of ip68 which means it is built to be able to be submerged up to 6 meters under the surface of the water for 30 minutes, it could possibly submerged for a little bit longer though.
Mine was under for over 12 hours, still works just fine! 😁😁
I dropped it in the dishwasher, it got submerged, what you didn't say was that what gets damaged are the speakers... they don't sound the same after falling into the water ☹️

I am more curious to see how it handles a salty water, like sea water. My old phone had no problems with sea water until an year passed by, and then suddanly started to leak from some crack I guess and died.
What about the sound test? Do the speakers work still?
I dropped mine In a lake in the ozarks and got it out within 2 minutes. It was working fine then it went dead. When we got back to the lake house I went to charge it and a computer screen icon came up and said maintenance or something. Then it turned on and right back off. Ended up having to spend 480 on a screen replacement… not a good day.
Why did you not test the phone speaker or charging the phone after it dries out?

You shouldn’t put on charge straight away let it’ be dry around the charging port area otherwise It can damage the mother board if a tiny bit of water left around.

Curious to see the water indicator located inside simcard slot... if it has turned to orange color what I suppose, well, your phone has survived to the immersion, but you have lost all warranty from the Aplle Care Center for any trouble which may happening at later date, even not linked to the water.
Warranty doesn’t mean shit if they don’t wanna respect it, because of a minor screen defect and wanna still change hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep the same device

My dog threw up on my iphone 13 and i had to wash it on running water as you can imagine A LONG time. No damage whatsoever . I would really like to try underwater videos though but i haven't saved up the courage 😀 Seems it will be fine from seeing such videos but problem is there really is no way to check if the seal has been done well enough in the factory. I might risk it when it gets bit older.
Wish we had water lock on iPhone like Apple Watch.

If little amounts of water get in it will took several weeks or even months for corrosion to develop and for us to see the first results of water damage so next time you can make an update video (if you want) showing us how the phone does 2-4 months after the water exposure. I don’t know about them being water proof but when I was working at Whole Foods I was washing the dishes and my phone was on the phone dispenser and fall in the sink full of water like 2 feet deep and I pulled it not expecting to work but it worked just had to blow out the speakers! What happens if you wash it with soap? Like say i had greasy hands, made a horrible mess of the phone could you like degrease the sucker with dawn and water without any issues?

Deep water pressure is the pressure not the water being bad... it is waterproof, why would you say no even after testing? We already knew it was before the test as well.

It will work, mine got dropped in small watered area. It still works perfectly but it's not charging until the battery drained. Every time I tried to charge it , notifies you the water detected in the light area😢 I did not use it for 3 days now hoping it all dried up.
