wish they kept the insane hull armor after the 1947 model, not sure why they downgraded it if the initial design was made to accomedate the thicker armor and frontal weight
Without diving into the books about the 1947 my guess is that once they realized that HEAT was becoming a thing even with the improved plate they could save some weight by just moving it down to 100mm While still being strong against most kinetic energy rounds of the time.
@@DawgIVLife it was due to high weight that made the tanks get stuck easly in the muddy terrain of belarus where most of early T54 models were stationed. Later models had wider tracks to spread the ground pressure and different turret that had better frontal protection but was overall lighter than the 1947 model.
Also the idea of weight. They wanted a tank that was similar if not better in mobility and maneuverability than the T-44. The 1947 version was found not to meet those requirements thus requiring design changes for weight. Furthermore it became more modernized to fit a statistic that 90% of hits would occur 1 meter from the ground. This proved the need for an uparmored hull at the cost of weight to be unnecessary and a stronger/redesigned turret made more sense.
@@DawgIVLife really is a guess without diving into the books, lmao. it was a weight thing. They decreased the thickness with the 1949 variant, when tanks still used conventional rounds. it was a weight thing
Not really a big fan of this because at one point i was uptiered so bad i don't rven get how it was possible... I went all the way to 8.7 in it. I had to face tanks with *LASER RANGE FINDERS* while all i have is aphe.
9:12 With the Maus, what you can do is shoot the mantlet dead center on a spot that isn’t curved too much. I’ve killed 2 Maus tanks like that in the T-44-100 which has the same gun, no shot trap
If u have any time can u show the kv1c and what line up to use with it? I bought thay a while ago and I struggle with it a little bit . I'm trying to watch alot of videos on war thunder to improve. Ur videos helped me improve alot by the way thanks.
The T54 in any iteration has been the roughest tank I've ever played, especially since I find uptiers are constant (probably because I angered the Gaijin gods).
This is what happens when the Soviet turrets respect their data. If it 100mm is 100mm not 200mm by some random x2 modifier They should have done the same for the t44 and t44-100
This BR for Russia is pretty frustrating for me. I just got here, and the up-tiers are very unforgiving. IS4m has an insane long reload, everything you're likely to fight has heat loaded so your armor can't save you, none of the Russian tanks have heat FS and the other nations do, I've been super miserable grinding this rank so far
Haha so true, it was more like when the t54 was 7.3 for me, it was so hellish I couldn’t escape the br for 3 months and it really fucked me up mentally.
Yeah I always see 8.7 in this 90% of the time, also the the others at 8.0 is criminal i always see 9.0 it’s very frustrating, but good news mate get to 8.7 you’ll see 8.0-7.7 80% of the times and Russias 8.7 is stacked
No offense or anything but it isnt really enjoyable to watch someone complain about a tank for the whole video, same thing with the scimitar video you did a while ago.

The transmission couldn't handle it

Thanks for making videos on tanks people ask for in the comments. Great channel. Great video as always.
very nice video
Thanks for making amazing videos as always bro
Great video
By far the best t-54 to play, an absolute beast even in full uptiers
Thanks for the video dawg

Hopefully they can figure out a way to balance the aphe tanks vs the lazer range finder stablizer apds tanks. The tech advantage is huge.

Play the French SANTAL please!
Why they set 100mm hull armor on t 54 and 55 and 62 insted of 200

Doesnt the russian T-54 get heatfs? Cause I’ve got Tiran 4 (Israel) wich is literally a T-54 and it does have heatfs
@crackedbymac the 1947 version at 7.7 doesn't. The 1949 gets APDS, and the 1951, last tank in the stack, gets both APDS and Heat FS

@dannyjayke8695 it's nice there's light at the end of the tunnel, but this is gonna be a long mental grind. I miss rank 2-3 Russia 😭
This was by far the best T-54 many years ago. The turret was stronger and more trolly.
and in practice it 94mm armor is still 300mm of armor like on kv
i just got it an hour ago
Best t54 imo, the armour can be really trolly
Why is there a T-34E in your lineup lol
Also, the thing you keep referring too "Turret".Is actually called the MANTLET
Wait till I call it the "Turret mantlet"
