The one thing that Lana has taught me is that sadness and being sad is not a problem. Beauty is hidden in sadness just like it is in happiness. You have them both then you gonna find peace.
Everyone seems to be talking about how happy she looks and I'm here thinking that she captured depression so accurately and beautifully. I see her trying (like I do) but the lingering sense of awkwardness, uneasiness and, well, sadness, is almost palpable.
In my opinion, this record is very powerful. I feel like at some point Lana was broken and the people closest to her put her back together piece by piece, and now she’s healing. Friends and family are very important during the healing process. Sometimes calling on them can be life changing if you have nowhere else to turn.

Okay but like the way she portrays sadness while being surrounded by her loved ones is so accurate. Sometimes, you just can’t help what you feel but you’re super grateful for who you have around you. The storm, darker hue and all very beautifully ties together with the song. This music video isn’t trying to be anything but what Blue Banisters actually stands for. Well done Lana Del Rey! What Lana has taught me is that listening to her music doesn't mean I gotta be sad. Her music is just art, a way to express the true-self of some of us, when I listen to her music I never feel sad, I feel free
как жаль, что я чувствую грусть из-за событий в жизни, мне так нравятся её песни, я влюбилась в них когда мне было 4, я так хочу слушать их но мне так больно
People say that the music deserved a better video, but I think the video is very fit for the music. It seems like it was taken with a simple camera, low on saturation and lightness, depicting her sadness. She is sad, even in the video, as she is trying to move on with the help of her friends, hanging around in her place, doing everything and nothing. The video is simple; no special effects, no bright colors, no dancing lights. The video is her sadness depicted. And sadness is blue, like her banisters, raining like the sky, it feels like breathing in sleep, deep and slow.
@@moonlight.z6543 actually it doesn't though It looks like ungraded LOG footage from a quality cinema camera. I guess Arri Alexa. A simple camera wouldnt have the same dynamic range and look as this footage. A simple camera like a camcorder probably would have oversaturated colors and way more sharpening then what im seeing here.
lana del rey isn’t just a human being, she’s a cultural reset, a reason to breathe, everything that I live for. she’s the reason why I wake up, the reason why I dress up, the reason why I eat, the reason why I still want to live in this mean world. she’s my everything.
this is kinda the album trailer when you think about it. the thunder, cherry blossom and arcadia references. the behind the scenes shoots of the album covers. i love it.
I really enjoy the symbolism in this song. The title it’s self could be translated to blue=sad & Banister=support/safety. These are topics that I resonate the most with. As Lana invites those who are closest to her in her life to help her feel safe and supported when she is sad is something we all need to be reminded of. We are never alone, there is always someone there to talk to when we are at our lowest points. Friends are one of the most important ingredients in our lives. 🤍
I always felt that the symbolism was that a bruise is blue/purple at first and then when it heals it turns green/grey. So I feel like she’s saying her sisters helped heal her wounds from the guy
there’s an ethereal element that this album has, she’s telling a powerful story as always and accepts sadness as a feeling and part of her evolution as a person, lana saved my life with this album
Lana saves my life every album she releases, I remember when I wanted to die cause my mum was dead and I wanted to go with her but Lana’s songs, her sadness and her healing trip in the songs conveyed by her voice… she saved my life. Then I had a breakup, a toxic relationship while I was still depressed for everything, and the only voice in that tunnel was always HER voice… and now, that I have to heal and live with my past trauma, she is here with theese songs!!! ❤
Blue Banisters isnt just an album, its a lifestyle, a reason to breathe. an escape from this cruel world filled with thieves. its art, a hug from loved one. its everything you ever wanted, its everything you ever need.
That headturn in the end showing she is still sad inside, but trying to cope and be happy with herself surrounded by her closest. Thank you, Lana, for making me feel so much with your lyrics, voice and videos.
I’m sobbing as a watch this. What a beautiful, intimate video. That moment where you can see the sadness in Lana’s face and then her smile when she sees her friend goofing off absolutely broke my heart and made me whole again. I believe the original BB music video was supposed to have her ex fiancé in it, perhaps that fact made her sad while filming. I love you Lana
The look at the end was like he’s not coming, and the other one where she’s seeing someone and she’s smiling and it was supposed to be him and it’s her friend on the swing and she smiles, I felt sad then happy and now I want to hang out with my friends!
Very nice 👌. I get that happening often. If I'm watching her videos on big screen whilst listening even more so. Girlfriend thinks my music addiction is over the top...comparing it with the much younger generation obsession with phones/social media. Yet we stick solid because it's a passion that helps tether my anger & calms my mind. Body. & soul. Yes that time honoured saying is true...
Without promoting her music and videos Lana is the perfect representation of what it means to be a real artist. She just loves her work of art, shes a free soul and shes a living legend. We love you Lana!!!
Latinos y latinas aquí presente apoyando a nuestra reina alternativo psicodélico y del sentimiento profundo. TE AMAMOS LANA, gracias por estos 10 años de carrera llena de música y talento verdadero único. ✨💙
I feel like it’s all about Lana’s perception and puts the song in a new light. Her sister actually paints her banisters blue but lana doesn’t see that because she thinks only her man can do that. So even if someone else paints them blue she will simply see them as green and gray
Out of the black, into the blue, painted green and grey. Love her consistent use of colours as metaphors for her emotions/where she’s at at her life ❤️
The video and lyrics hint at rain which could be why blue banisters turn into grey at the end, because of rain that takes all the colors with time, its also a great metaphor for grief and healing with time.
So much this. I am dealing with aging parents and would never wish that on her but it's a fact of life and when the day comes I hope she can find find peace in her music and lead us along the way. I love the woman that she has become even more than the woman she has always been. I felt like White Dress hit me hard but BB hits me even really harder.
@@pookspeak9529 I lost my dad in 1992 when I was young. Then my mom passed away in 2019. I know it’s very hard. Prayers coming your way. Hang in there. I agree that Lana music can help you heal.
I hope this album’s isn’t a goodbye. Kind of feels like one sometimes with her deactivating her Instagram and mentioning wanting to “leave” and her kind of fu attitude in Arcadia, for instance. I hope she’s just in a more self reflective time in her life and that she’ll come back ❤️
Even if she leaves .. she's given us so much content the past few years. I'll be happy even if she leaves, she'll be living her life and perhaps when or if she comes back, we will have so much more content.
To be honest, it kind of always feels like that whenever the singles are released. Songs like Swan Song and The Greatest make it sound like she is quitting the industry but she hasn't yet at least
In my opinion, one of her most underrated works. The brilliance of the songwriting is so subtle - and without much clammer from a bang-y melody...the details of this song's beauty exist its subtle delicacy. Love Lana - grateful that she shares her gifts.
I love how different her newer music videos are. She's being more real and genuine in them, her older ones (which I adore, no hate for them) seem to dramatize her songs and make them seem more like a story, while her newer videos, it's like she's showing us a look into her real self. She's doing the videos with her friend and sister, she's doing normal things that still show the story without glamorizing it. She's no longer the 'sad girl' aesthetic Tumblr made her out to be, she matured and is now being perceived as the person she should be; a woman is fierce and powerful but also a woman who doesn't have a perfect past and burdened with a sadness. She's more real in her videos, the way she looks at the camera makes it so easy to connect with her and understand what she's expressing. I hope this easy to understand, and not messy like my last comment...

@@rainatmidnight @iiCloudy_Apples true! But it didn't seem that way with her music videos, they always seemed to try to fit a story more than showing what she was singing about. I'm sure many can relate to this song and video. Smiling, acting happy, trying to hide her inner turmoil has been captured beautifully. Lana Del Rey really doesn't get enough credit for her artistry.
I'm so happy she makes art out of everything. She makes music...real artistry and embodies the value of it. I'm so happy the kids are listening to her discography like a bible. It tells a story and it inspires emotions, without judgment or fear.
That’s Lana’s plan is doing Satan a favor collecting souls into having people listening to her trap that manipulates the mind into thinking that her music will make anyone positive, but she is one back stabber and can heal her small depression due to a breakup. If you’re curious to know why, I’ll tell you a list. -Convincing listeners that suicide is heavenly. Which is a unforgivable sin to commit. -sex before marriage, and being lustful. -adultery. -practicing witchcraft to get the demons will into cursing someone. - copying Jim Jones ideas into preaching false prophecy and following Charles Manson’s theories on how he manipulated the shit out of his leaders.

I love the line at 4:08, her cadence throughout the song is very interesting, but the way she stutters on sisters is so satisfying. Like she’s thinking of saying friends but then changes to sisters.
I love that the last couple of albums, and their videos, aren't about selling anything, but rather sharing her moment in time. It's clear she no longer cares for fame or big sales, and just puts herself out there, exactly as is, or her own terms. That's a true artist.
Blue Banisters will forever be one of my favorite albums. It’s so calming/therapeutic. Arcadia, BB, Black Bathing Suit, If you lie down with me, Wildflower Wildfire, Beautiful, Sweet Carolina. It’s a masterpiece 💙
It just hit me that Blue Banisters literally means the sad & depressing things in life we hang onto… how did I not see it until now. Blue meaning sad, and banisters something we hang onto or supports us… That’s why you can see she’s so sad in moments… 🥲

It’s much more sexual than that. “Painting her bannisters blue”, are her walls, and they are bruised blue and when bruises heal, they turn green and grey.

The beautiful simplicity of this video is profound. It's the little things with our friends and family that make us feel whole again after we've been broken.
No Lana song has ever made me cry so easily about a love I still carry within my heart and how I miss him the way this song has done it. Every single line is pure art.
Being sad doesn’t mean you are not coping with a situation. Rather, it helps you come to terms with that situation and move on. It is an important emotion that can help you adapt, accept, focus, persevere and grow. And Lana help us a lot to move on. Thanks Lana.
In heraldry, blue represents truth and fidelity, and perhaps that’s why we hear Lana sing: “Said he’d come back every May/ Just to help me if I’d paint my banisters blue.” In ancient Egypt, the scenes of soul weighing were painted with a light sky blue background, as the Egyptians believed this to be the color of truth. Moreover, it was also common in some ancient cultures for brides to wear something blue to ensure fidelity in marriage. Blue railings, like the color itself, symbolize infinity, emptiness, and eternity. Blue is the color of transparency. A wall painted light blue can seem to glow and somehow disappear. Lana is ‘painting her banisters blue’. And apparently the color blue, against its conventional symbolic usage, is rather something which Lana Del Rey regularly uses in a positive connotation.
@@kamussy.m Green as you know is universally associated with nature, linked as it is to grass, plants and trees. It also represents growth and renewal, being the color of spring and rebirth. Another association is “getting the green light” to go ahead, giving it an association with taking action.
@@kamussy.mOn the other hand In color psychology, grey represents neutrality and balance. Its color meaning likely comes from being the shade between white and black. However, grey does carry some negative connotations, particularly when it comes to depression and loss. Its absence of color makes it. I hope I ve been usefull

*Blue Banisters Lyrics:*
[Verse 1]
There's a picture on the wall
Of me on a John Deere
Jenny handed me a beer
Said, "How the hell did you get there?"
Oh, Oklahoma
Mm-mm, mm
[Verse 2]
There were flowers that were dry
Sittin' on the dresser
She asked me where they're from
I said, "A place I don't remember"
Oh, Oklahoma (Oh-oh)
[Pre-Chorus]
Jenny jumped into the pool
She was swimmin' with Nikki Lane
She said, "Most men don't want a woman
With a legacy, it's of age"
She said "You can't be a muse and be happy, too
You can't blacken the pages with Russian poetry
And be happy"
And that scared me
'Cause I met a man who
[Chorus]
Said he'd come back every May
Just to help me if I'd paint my banisters blue
Blue banisters, ooh
Said he'd fix my weathervane
Give me children, take away my pain
And paint my banisters blue
My banisters blue
[Verse 3]
There's a hole that's in my heart
All my women try and heal
They're doin' a good job
Convincin' me that it's not real
It's heat lightning, oh-oh-oh, oh
[Verse 4]
'Cause there's a man that's in my past
There's a man that's still right here
He's real enough to touch
In my darkest nights, he's shinin'
Ooh-ooh-ooh
[Pre-Chorus]
Jenny was smokin' by the pool
We were writin' with Nikki Lane
I said I'm scared of the Santa Clarita Fires
I wish that it would rain
I said the power of us three can bring absolutely anything
Except that one thing
The diamonds, the rust, and the rain
The thing that washes away the pain
But that's okay, 'cause
[Chorus 2]
Now when weather turns to May
All my sisters come to paint my banisters green
My blue banisters grey
Tex and Mex are in the Bay
Chucky's makin' birthday cake
Chickens runnin', bare feet, there's a baby on the way
And now my blue banisters are green and grey, ah-ah
[Outro]
Summer comes, winter goes
Spring, I skip, God knows
Summer comes, winter goes
Spring, I sleep, Heaven knows
Every time it turns to May

her poetry is pure. her art is true. her love is real.
This was not shot with a simple camera. The camera looks to be really good but they just made the decision/forgot to colorgrade the footage.
@@gielrozilio4541 yeah I understand, what I was trying to say is that it looks like it was shot with a simple camera
This was shot in 8K on a cinema grade format in LOG format. Not a simple camera.
@@moonlight.z6543 actually it doesn't though
It looks like ungraded LOG footage from a quality cinema camera. I guess Arri Alexa. A simple camera wouldnt have the same dynamic range and look as this footage. A simple camera like a camcorder probably would have oversaturated colors and way more sharpening then what im seeing here.
Actually I love the video it's very simple and dreamy, the tones are subtle and neutral, it fits beautifully the song.
This song is ethereal, I have a really good feeling about this album.

there’s an ethereal element that this album has, she’s telling a powerful story as always and accepts sadness as a feeling and part of her evolution as a person, lana saved my life with this album

Yes. I saw the sadness in her eyes. It is heartbreaking
her ex fiancé as in Clayton Johnson? poor lana she was just so happy with him :(
The look at the end was like he’s not coming, and the other one where she’s seeing someone and she’s smiling and it was supposed to be him and it’s her friend on the swing and she smiles, I felt sad then happy and now I want to hang out with my friends!

I feel like it’s all about Lana’s perception and puts the song in a new light. Her sister actually paints her banisters blue but lana doesn’t see that because she thinks only her man can do that. So even if someone else paints them blue she will simply see them as green and gray
I can’t listen to this song without shedding a tear 😢
Out of the black, into the blue, painted green and grey. Love her consistent use of colours as metaphors for her emotions/where she’s at at her life ❤️
The video and lyrics hint at rain which could be why blue banisters turn into grey at the end, because of rain that takes all the colors with time, its also a great metaphor for grief and healing with time.

She is already working on a cover album, and she said her future projects need her to be private, so definitely more content is coming.

@ocanada867 Nice ! Succinctly said & such a wonderful description as u see it. 👌 . Awesome
She's always been genuine with us but I agree

That’s Lana’s plan is doing Satan a favor collecting souls into having people listening to her trap that manipulates the mind into thinking that her music will make anyone positive, but she is one back stabber and can heal her small depression due to a breakup.

-Convincing listeners that suicide is heavenly. Which is a unforgivable sin to commit.
-sex before marriage, and being lustful.

May you please help me understand what the "blue" Banisters stand for? And why are they green and grey at the end?
In heraldry, blue represents truth and fidelity, and perhaps that’s why we hear Lana sing: “Said he’d come back every May/ Just to help me if I’d paint my banisters blue.”
In ancient Egypt, the scenes of soul weighing were painted with a light sky blue background, as the Egyptians believed this to be the color of truth.
@@vdLeo-je6os Then why are they painted green and grey at the end?
@@kamussy.m Green as you know is universally associated with nature, linked as it is to grass, plants and trees. It also represents growth and renewal, being the color of spring and rebirth. Another association is “getting the green light” to go ahead, giving it an association with taking action.
@@kamussy.mOn the other hand In color psychology, grey represents neutrality and balance. Its color meaning likely comes from being the shade between white and black. However, grey does carry some negative connotations, particularly when it comes to depression and loss. Its absence of color makes it. I hope I ve been usefull
