9:04 Monsters in the farm actually do gain experience as well. It's certainly minimal, but they do.

Yeah, they do. I think it's 12.5% exp, which isn't bad, I think that tends to be something like when your main team gets to level 14, the depot monsters get to level 11. Great way to set up an elaborate monster tree down the line.

I know it was already the case in the previous ones so yeah, I suppose it's the same in this one too.

A little mistake toward the end, the monsters back at Rosehill still earn xp, 25% of what you get (Reserve gets 50%). The rest is pretty accurate. I hope the circles of Nadiria will grow larger as you travel to the upper echelons.

I didn’t even know about this game so it was a nice surprise. Love these types of games. Monster hunter stories 2 was fantastic and a huge fan of smt .

Agree with pretty much everything about the demo except blaming the clunkiness and cheap feel on the aging Switch when games like DQ11 didn't have the same cheap feel to the areas and issues. My worry is that team on this one had limited budget, time, etc to make this as Square doesn't seem to have much faith in this spinoff series. I'm still looking forward to the full release tho

Yeah honestly even DQ Treasures looked and played better

Which is sad cause it could serve as a good alternative to Pokemon. But since they dominate this market so much, they probably don't have that much faith in it. You just have to hear the similarities with Pokemon pointed out in the video. You can't really blame them when the only two Monster games we got didn't sell exceptionally well and we didn't get the final part of what was a trilogy. So my guess is they try but not too hard with this one and honestly I'm already thankful we'll get an international release for a DQ Monster game since almost 13 years.

yeah exactly, DQM already have a miles better core gameplay loop than Pokemon, but it looks like this game will be held back by performance issues, some barren areas, and same kind of repeitive npcs and music that have been used for every past game. You can definitely tell Square has little interest in supporting this title outside Japan with the number of Japanese only promo videos @@kyurei4478

Just as someone else said, Treasures clearly had more polish into it, which hits harder considering DQ Monsters Dark prince actually is just re-using most of the mechanics of older monster quest games, just wish a new polish.
Combat system, fusing monsters, even the talent point system from other dragon quest games (cant recall if it was present in joker series) feel like they were simply ripped and plastered into this entry with a very bare bones level of graphics that look like they would be more in place for a Nintendo Wii title then.
Even any resemblance of a story feels very poorly added on with how they `skip` alot of parts. Which if they did not skip over the initial parts, on top of the whole process of building the tower, plus maybe have a bit more depth into the story, its clearly made to give as much non-existent story link to a sort of `prequel to Psaro` but shove in monster taming in the process to boot.
Heck, they did not even need them preventing Psaro from harming monsters, just have it where he is unable to wield weapons against monsters, so he is limited to spell work as support mechanics or his bare fists.
Even Dragon Quest Builders 2 had a much better story introduction in this regard for its demo and i feel like dark prince`s story will not even be a third the length of even Treasures considering how they want to have next to nil on characters in the story beyond the prince, his beloved and conviently disguised `traitor dood`.

I'm kind of surprised how kind of crappy the demo looks. I would have expected it to look as good as XI, but the camera is clunky and the visuals are washed out and feel lower rez.

The quality of life changes in this newest version of dragon quest monsters feels great compared to the original dragon warrior monsters game for the gameboy color lol. I think the linear story/gameplay helps contrast it to the pokemon series which went completely the opposite way.

In defense to Dragon Quest, they did the monster catching concept with Dragon Quest 5 long before the first Pokemon game came out.

I have never clicked on a video faster. This is one of my most anticipated games of the entire year. I can't wait to get it. It looks so good. Thanks Meg for shining a light on the game.

Im 2 hours into the game and so far it seems great, I would rank it above DQM2 3D because the i'm really immersed into the story. I am excited for this game to bring in new DQ fans who might end up playing Dragon Quest 4 and have their mind blown from the connections between this game and that one. The game runs okay but not great but I am blown away by how the seasons change in the game, because of the weaker power of the Switch I expected it to just be a cutscene but its really impressive that the whole world changes while you are just running around.

I first watched Noisy Pixel cover this but the way he talked made it feel like he didn't even complete the demo and he left out so much stuff. After that, I searched for another person that covered the demo and watched this video 2nd. I felt like you did play the full demo and you covered the things Noisy Pixel didn't. So you did an extremely better coverage of the demo than Noisy Pixel did in my eyes. This made me sub to you.

I really like this new *"mana-gement"* option. Even if you can already directly choose the attacks you want to use, it can be a bit tiring. So having the middle ground option between giving orders and letting the AI choose everything and spamming certain moves in the wrong situations can be very useful.

I played the heck out of the demo, and I loved playing it, but I do still have my concerns. It seems like the game might get repetitive since you're doing the same things over and over.I hope there's more to it in the main game.
I just hope Tuskateer's in the game. The fat, goofy walrus is one of my faves for just how obsurd walruses are in general, plus chonks tend to be my favorites in general, but in TACT, I love how he bounces around on his belly, and when he lands, he still has that same confident look on his face as if he's trying to impress you. Also, he starts flexing his muscles when he levels up or wins a battle, and there's just something adorable about him.

I had a good time with this game and I’m a fan of dragon quest in general. I will say this game plays like a ps2/ps3 game. That’s by no means a deal breaker for me, I do wish we got a break in the price of the game due to that but hey. I’ll still be buying this game on release or close to it.
