"Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika" 'Lord Bless Africa' is a Christian hymn originally composed in 1897 by Enoch Sontonga, a Xhosa clergyman at a Methodist mission school near Johannesburg. Part of our National Anthem. 11:04 Our Nation is dedicated to Jesus Christ. We will not fall. Rise….we will rise…❤️❤️❤️
Love all the work you do for us, even with all the budget cuts and other constraints. I love our defence force. Words can’t express how much I appreciate and admire you guys
The national anthem for SA is more like a prayer slash revolutional song sang in Xhosa, Zulu, Sotho, Afrikaans and English 5 languages. When u pray u obviously get emotional that's why u see the emotions cut trough their hearts. When you sing this anthem there is no way u cant look like they do on top of tht if u have seen Springbok the SA ruby team singing they feel it exactly like these guys do and mostly they closed their eyes the ST University makes it worse there is not way u can cry listening to them.
This is not the South African national anthem you are referring to. This is the original South African national anthem, this one is the prayer, revolution and emotionally filled. The one with Zulu, Xhosa, Sotho, Afrikaans and English is a watered down national anthem, a compromise which is why is it less sincere and less impactful because it is polically promised.
@@gedenironald8635 I disagree that its "watered down", if you look at the words, how can one say it's watered down. Nelson Mandela actually fought to include the different language elements, because it fostered unity, its just that certain communities/cultures didn't know the words or meaning to certain sections of the anthem. So one must clarify, because for different race groups there were different "original" anthems. the current anthem is a unification of those most coveted songs.
@@StevenBenjaminAuthor Nope Nkosi Sikelela without english and Afrikaans is the original anthem composed by Enoch Sontonga. English and Afrikaans was added to include other racial groups so yes it was "watered down" to accommodate other races hence most black population still don't sing the Afrikaans and English parts very well to this day
@@patrickzimu8866 I'm not disagreeing with the fact those parts were added, my disagreement is is with your opinion that it's now "watered down", implying the added bit is less meaningful and less beautiful, and that the whole anthem is "diminished" as a result
it is a religious song that was Written by Enoch Sontonga in 1897 the song now forms the National Anthem of South africa together with the Sotho/Tswana translation it is also used by some countries in the SADC region as their national anthems.
Nice to have a foreigner appreciate a world class choir….we don’t worry about singing spiritual songs in South Africa 🇿🇦 we unashamedly worship God and use our gifts for His glory…yes this is our multi cultural power at work…..and yes white dudes can jump (I speak a lot of Xhosa too 😂😂😂
White South Africans could always jump 😂 The dancing "is not make sure" though 🤣🤣🤣 But I see that the generation of Ama2000 is determined to prove this stereotype wrong 😁🇿🇦
As a South African and a choir lover I can tell you one thing: I have heard breathtaking choirs from all over the world, but there’s nothing like South African choral music. They just have something. It’s just wonderful
We are known as a nation that prays. No matter the problems we face as a nation, God is still acknowledged in schools and universities. We pray our nation will be healed. Stronger Together!
Stellenbosch University Choir regularly wins world choir competitions. Top class indeed. And the most soulful song most South Africans identify with. It was sung during the struggle. Title: God bless Africa. The song forms part of our national anthem.
When South Africans come together something beautiful comes to life..as a South African myself, knowing the struggles we go through and yet able to produce such beauty .. I love my country and I love every South Africans🇿🇦❤️. Let's keep giving the world the bestbof because they haven't seen nothing yet❤🇿🇦
Yyeeeesss! My fave choir! LOVE LOVE LOVE this rendition of our national anthem. It has such depth to its meaning. If only you understood the words. It sound just like the prayer that it is! It's like you're in God's Throne Room.
We are one country that's blessed with worshippers. Not just singers or musicians but true worshippers, people who sing with their heart and souls and worship from within.
Yes all of us we sing from birth... Here in the East Cape we sing all the time, when we play aß boys we sing when we were happy when we were sad , at church , at traditional ceremonies . Hebrews are the nation of praise , we sing ,we dance, we freestyle poetry(imbongi)
This is a prayer that black people would sing when they were being oppressed. It’s in Zulu it’s a prayer. It basically means God protect Africa, give us strength to conquer, we’re fighting with satan. Even when it’s hard in the word , we get treated horribly and then this repeats. It does invoke emotions because it’s from a time of extreme time of hardship for our people.
This song is a cry out to God to bless South Africa. That’s why you hear spirit and not mind. We might have our issues in this country, but God is still here. Bless South Africa, my beautiful country ❤🙏🏻🇿🇦
This narrative that we are divided by politicians is nonsensical. Elderly white people teach their children hatred, and politicians don't raise your kids. Teach them the right values.
I love your heartfelt reactions. I studied at the university of Stellenbosch and sang in a smaller quior. That was a long time ago. It fills me with immense pride that my alma mater has kept this beautiful tradition going and has in fact superceded anything that came before. And yes, you can see them live.

Stellenbosch University is located in the Western Cape, about one hour from Cape Town. It is one of our top universities. Their choir is outstanding. They give public performances. Come to South Africa and attend one or two of their performances!
South-Africa is all about music. We love it. Choral music is a huge passion for many of us. My kids sang in their school choirs. But prominent schools that excelled in the world choir games. In Uni the youngest is still singing. I cried each time the choires got together and sang. It's real and it's lovely. If you loved this, you should listern to Afrikaans Girls High School choir (AHMP) and Afrikaans Boys High School (AHS) choir, also Camarata Choir University of Pretoria. It's all lovely. Also, Rustenburg High School's rendition of Bohemian Rapsody. There's the Drakensberg Boys choir. Excellent! Then, off course, there is the Ndolovu your choir.
The choir isn't a religious choir but the song is spiritual. The end is called a cluster and all the women wouldsing the phrase "Nkosi Sikelela" three times in their own timing, while the men, I was a tenor in this video, were just singing "ooo" yup! Thats the #1 ranked choir in the world right there, with a genuious conductor!
THIS IS THE REAL AND ORIGINAL SOUTH AFRICAN ANTHEM, NOT WHAT WE HAVE NOW. THIS IS A REVOLUTIONARY SONG AND WE WILL FOREVER STAND BY IT AS THE BLACK SOUTH AFRICANS.
