Exactly - this is why it is so tragic that Ghana as a top producer of cocoa is not known for making chocolate, while Switzerland and Belgium with no cocoa are leading chocolate nations.

the first producer of cocoa in Africa is Ivory Coast a french speaking country
Ivory Coast used to be the first producer of cocoa in the world .That's one of the reason France caused a civil war there in 2001 .In fact , the Ivorian cocoa was being sold throughout the world by French companies for many decades .The French companies were buying very cheap to the farmers in Ivory Coast and selling to Europe or America very expensive .When Laurent Gbagbo came to power , he cancelled that and Ivorian started selling themselves their cocoa .After France supplied arms in the North of Ivory Coast and created a rebellion to oust Laurent Gbagbo.He resisted for ten years until in April 2011 the French special forces Lincorn assisted by the blue helmet of United Nations arrested his in his Palace and taken to ICC.
What happened to the Ghana cocoa processing factory in Tema it was a big government project built by Dr Nkrumah that produced top quality chocolates
