I just started following you and your lovely family with hubby and Grimm. I just wanted to let you know how much I am binge watching this because of the beauty and naturalness of this quaint little town. I can’t believe I’ve lived 60 years and never heard of this place. I have begun to get some health issues due to age and wondered if you thought this place would be to much for me to handle. I could see myself living in a tiny place like the goldsmith lady. And use the last years of my life in peace and serenity. I just lost my 39 year old daughter last September who was basically my rock. I have a son that has a demanding career. He is in Wisconsin USA and I am in Boston. Love your way of quiet life.
I would like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for your videos . Your videos helped me through my trying times when I was suffering with covid19 last year . Through my feverish conditions I enjoyed watching your life. Now, I'm better and I still watch your stories . Keep it up , stay safe and God bless .
It’s 5 in the morning rn and I was looking at google maps because I could not go back to sleep, discovered this island and began reading about it, then of course checked the youtube and the first video was yours! I gotta say I’m impressed of the beauty of this land because I expected something completely different by looking at the maps... It look very friendly place (just like you) with nice fresh air and a lot to explore. I’m Bulgarian living in Virginia, USA and feeling like a citizen of the planet Earth now I have another place to visit on my list. Cheers!
I’m binge watching all your videos from oldest to newest and as much as I absolutely hate the cold and HATE being cold, I would loveeee to experience this for a week. 😍 absolutely beautiful!
Finally, the country which I just found while playing and touring around Google Maps during Covid19 has videos like this. Wow. Before, when I search up Svalbard, all I can see is a 2 or 3 vids 😂 finally seeing more of one of my fave place to live in. Thanks for this, Cecilia ❤️✨🌬️ Also, just noticed that these stores looks simple outside but vibrant and cozy on the inside. Just wow. Would love to live here for the rest of my life. Haha

I glazed over the scenery several times in aww, of looking at the terriain where you could be hunted by the polar bear!..Amazing story and walk through the town. I loved the time you took to walk through the town to share your experience. Very enjoyable expereince. I look forward to part 2:) Thank you so much! Well done!:)

12 Celsius in July?! That’s amazing! I stumbled on your channel when I was looking at the sunrise and sunset times for my own state in the USA. I wondered “what city has a sun that never sets?” And I found your beautiful little village! This is absolutely fascinating to me. I’d love to visit in the summer and go for a midnight coffee as the sun is still in the sky. I can’t believe this cute town exists! Thank you for posting videos of this. I hope that even though you won’t have sun for months now, you are still staying healthy and happy!

We never have snow and winters are rarely over 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Summers are 9 months long and Temps are around 100 degrees Fahrenheit most of the time. I absolutely love it and could not imagine living anywhere else. I'm sure the feeling is mutual. Longyearbyen is now on my bucket list of places to visit after the worst of this pandemic is over.

Hello Cecilia and Chris. I just came across your channel and I'm really enjoying what you share around Svaldbard. Of all the places in the world I have thought of visiting, Svaldbard was just not on my radar. Hell, I just never heard of Svaldbard before your channel. However, your vids have seriously caught my interest. If I came up for a couple of weeks next spring, is there someone who I could hire to show me some of the places you have filmed and some that you haven't yet. As an American visitor, would I be welcomed or would I just be sitting at the bar alone the whole time? Thank you for all the work you have put in. Happy to be a Patreon if I can figure out how and then follow you for a while. Considering all the insanity in the world today, your videos are a great escape. Thanks Steve
Thank you so much for creating this video, I appreciate it because I'm so fascinated by Svalbard and it's rare to find locals filming about the place. The town is beautifully isolated from the world and yet everyone seems content and happy with their life. All the material items give way to beautiful sceneries and living with nature, it's surreal! Pls continue to post videos, whenever I need a getaway from reality, I know which RUclips channel to look for. Liked and subscribed!
OMG this channel is exactly what I needed during this lockdown! Coz I’m planning my trip to Svalbard after the pandemic is over! Thank you for an amazing videos!
Hello Cecelia 💕 I stumbled across you on TikTok. I live in a land far far away called New Jersey. We don’t even have polar bears here. The weather is too inhospitable for them. Hope this finds you well and keeping warm. Great video 👍
I just bought a map of the world, now my new favorite thing is finding a place on the map and Youtubing a place I've never heard of...Svalbard is my first video. Looks amazing. Next Rabat...
Excellent, almost like Northern Exposure (TV series) by the way, if you can, watch a few first episodes, to get an idea try and see them together, you may find it very enjoyable. In RUclips you can pull some up to see...as it is not on TV anymore:( Getting back to your wonderful town! The place looks perfect for a couple in love, and working together as a team! Yes, consider yourselves lucky living there, as it is a very special place for sure! :-) I wonder if the fishing is good there? I live in a small town as well, came from the city. I finally learned about, "quantity versus quality". I can say by experience that quality living. Is much more rewarding in the end :-) I hope for the very best for the both of you. Oh and your house is super, love it, just perfect!
Thank you so much for subscribing 🙏 Svalbard is governed by Norway, but there is 46 countries who signed a Svalbard treaty allowing them to engage in commercial activity here. So there is also a Russian settlement called Barentsburg, a research village called ny-ålesund and some other research stations 😊
Svalbard has been on my toplist to visit for a few years now, rally looks mezmerising, the untamed nature...i hope my Dreams will Come true and i will visit this beautifull place!
I’ve been complaining about 30 degree cold but now I appreciate it after hearing that wind bounce between the hills and sing. When the damn wind sings, I know that’s not the place for me. Thanks for sharing, and keeping it interesting
You were just recommended to me by Caitlin Doughty from the Ask a Mortician channel who mentioned you in her secret Patreon vlog (I hope Caitlin's not mad about me mentioning it). Longyearbyen looks wonderful, I'm looking forward to exploring it through your videos! :)
Greetings from Buffalo, NY USA! Thank you for the videos, now I feel like I have partially traveled to the Arctic! A few questions... 1. What's the internet & cellular data access like on Svalbard? I'm curious what the download\upload data speeds are. 2.Are you restricted to only being able to access the networks when you are near or in the town? 3. Do you have 5G access? 4. How is the Svalbard connected to the Internet, undersea cable? Satellite? Both? 5. If I wanted to buy new technology on Svalbard, like a new laptop, or smartphone, what is that process like? I assume there is nothing like Amazon on Svalbard? 6. How is the international market with consumer choice? Are you restricted with what you have access to buy? For example, Singapore is one of the most open economies in the world where the consumer has choice to choose just about any product from any international company. In the US we have pretty open markets but you won't find products from companies like Huawei or Xiaomi. 7. Do you think a vegan would have a tough time obtaining food on Svalbard? Thank you for your time & helping me feel like I have traveled to Svalbard!
As a Fiber Optic Maintenance Technician (I keep peoples Google fiber internet running, finding the problems when there’s an outage and fixing it - that can be as simple as fixing a bad or broken splice to having to run entirely new fiber cables to get it running) and I just can’t imagine how we would install fiber in a place like that. The permafrost would be a huge barrier since all of our fiber lines are buried underground, we have to dig little holes in every couple of yards to run fiber from peoples homes down to the main fiber cable and get them spliced in to the main line in a plastic container that we then bury and have to dig up any time we need access. When it’s winter here and the ground is frozen, that job becomes much more difficult so I’m not sure how we’d do it in permafrost. Even here in Texas in more rural areas, some places don’t yet have access to fiber. My mom for instance only has access to satellite Internet, so it’s pretty slow, especially vs fiber, but better than nothing. I imagine places like Longyearbyen would have to deal with satellite Internet (but the hills can make that difficult) or cable. But… I was up in Big Sky Montana in October 2020 running new fiber in many of the resort areas ahead of ski season, and most of what we had to do there was accessed through vaults placed in the ground so they can be accessed when the ground is frozen, which is the majority of the year in Big Sky MT. So it’s possible they have something like that there. But I imagine that the extreme cold would cause the speeds within the fiber to slow a bit
What an amazing place. So cute and loved the shop where ya went in to get coffee...looked so warm and cozy for sure. I love the town already through your videos and seems like a simple, yet relaxing life there which I would love!!

As an American visitor, would I be welcomed or would I just be sitting at the bar alone the whole time? Thank you for all the work you have put in. Happy to be a Patreon if I can figure out how and then follow you for a while. Considering all the insanity in the world today, your videos are a great escape.
Thanks
Steve
Thank you so much for creating this video, I appreciate it because I'm so fascinated by Svalbard and it's rare to find locals filming about the place. The town is beautifully isolated from the world and yet everyone seems content and happy with their life. All the material items give way to beautiful sceneries and living with nature, it's surreal! Pls continue to post videos, whenever I need a getaway from reality, I know which RUclips channel to look for. Liked and subscribed!
Thank you so much!! I will continue to make videos, so happy to hear that you like them 🙏😊
Found you on tiktok so i decided to search Svalbard on youtube. So happy to see you here!
Yeeey, tiktok fam!! 😊😊⭐️
OMG this channel is exactly what I needed during this lockdown!
Coz I’m planning my trip to Svalbard after the pandemic is over!
Thank you for an amazing videos!
Awww thank you so so much! 🤩🙏🏻
You make the most beautiful videos!! I enjoy them so much!

Wow! I love the fact that the village is so brightly colored.
Love your vlog Cecilia. Perhaps you could recount your life from Booterstown to Gothenberg and life between!
🤩 I might do that! Thank you so much for watching! And I still can't believe your wife recognised me after all these years haha!
Cecilia Blomdahl you lived in Booterstown, Dublin??
Hello Cecelia 💕 I stumbled across you on TikTok. I live in a land far far away called New Jersey. We don’t even have polar bears here. The weather is too inhospitable for them. Hope this finds you well and keeping warm. Great video 👍
So cool! :):):)
I have many photos from svalbard and from Svea mine when my grandpa working there as a cooker in the kitchen in 1920th to give the miners food.
I just bought a map of the world, now my new favorite thing is finding a place on the map and Youtubing a place I've never heard of...Svalbard is my first video. Looks amazing. Next Rabat...
This video makes me want to go there as soon as possible!
Hi Cecelia… You make beautiful videos… We enjoy the scenery, your fantastic editing skills, and we were especially like your two dogs. :) :)
i'm from northern canada(western)and would love to go to svalbard.i love the north w a passion.would love to go circumpolar and visit it all.
Woow...!! Looks like a beautiful and peaceful place with clean air!
Hi from Finland!
Why does she not have more subcribers!!!
🙏🏻💕
Just subscribed! What a beautiful island. This is going to be interesting viewing!
I was in Longyearbyen a year ago. I stayed a couple of days. Sooooo beautiful. I want to go back again one day soon.
"Grilling hot dogs under the midnight sun" made me laugh irrationally hard
Its amazing that it's July and you are wearing a turtleneck and a coat! A very beautiful area.
Haha! Svalbard summer 😍
definitely on my bucket list now. :) Be safe.
😊😊🙌🙏
Came across you on Tiktok, RUclipsd "Svalbard" and this is the first result. Neat!
Impressive!!!... you know what I'm missing?... Trees!!!
Haha! Not a lot of trees here 🙈
Excellent, almost like Northern Exposure (TV series) by the way, if you can, watch a few first episodes, to get an idea try and see them together, you may find it very enjoyable. In RUclips you can pull some up to see...as it is not on TV anymore:(
Getting back to your wonderful town! The place looks perfect for a couple in love, and working together as a team! Yes, consider yourselves lucky living there, as it is a very special place for sure! :-)
I wonder if the fishing is good there? I live in a small town as well, came from the city. I finally learned about, "quantity versus quality". I can say by experience that quality living. Is much more rewarding in the end :-)
I hope for the very best for the both of you. Oh and your house is super, love it, just perfect!
suscribed, amazing place to live. Which is the country that owns that territory??
Thank you so much for subscribing 🙏 Svalbard is governed by Norway, but there is 46 countries who signed a Svalbard treaty allowing them to engage in commercial activity here. So there is also a Russian settlement called Barentsburg, a research village called ny-ålesund and some other research stations 😊
Svalbard has been on my toplist to visit for a few years now, rally looks mezmerising, the untamed nature...i hope my Dreams will Come true and i will visit this beautifull place!
"Or just settings up a fire to grill hotdogs under the MIDNIGHT SUN" Never thought I'd ever hear that
I’ve been complaining about 30 degree cold but now I appreciate it after hearing that wind bounce between the hills and sing. When the damn wind sings, I know that’s not the place for me. Thanks for sharing, and keeping it interesting
That's a Hilux, so everything must be okay and beautiful there. Thanks
Though, I imagine they could use power lines to carry fiber internet and bring it to peoples homes that way.
Thank You Cecilia! ❤ I love your videos! 🤗 I live in Sweden and would like to move to Svalbard too 😍
impossible challenge: go to longyearbyen to buy a surfboard
🤣
I have discovered this channel by accident and it is so interesting and its really great to see how you guys live! Thanks for your time!👌💛💛 Xx
Thank you for watching! 🤩
I imagine dating would be difficult here
There are always tourists.

What an amazing place. So cute and loved the shop where ya went in to get coffee...looked so warm and cozy for sure. I love the town already through your videos and seems like a simple, yet relaxing life there which I would love!!
It really is! 🤩🤩
"everyone's outside ... because it's summer here" at 12 degrees. Yeah, no thanks xD
It 53 degrees F / still a little cool for my kind of summer.
@@margaretwomacque1247 you should come visit north Dakota sometime in January lol and I work outside all day I just bundle up but when it gets -20 to -55 f I start to complain
@@burnthecandleatbothendz Winters in Nebraska are so up and down in temps, but never as cold as your talking about. Our wind chills are what we complain about and the snow drifts -- never just falls to the ground. There is so much beauty and a different take on life with changing seasons, but I'll wait to summer or fall to visit North Dakota. People in middle and northern states find a way -- must be boring down south or in California!
@@margaretwomacque1247 we live in pretty much the 2 states nobody cares to visit or gets mentioned lol
@@burnthecandleatbothendz Actually John...I would love to visit North Dakota...just not in winter--lol...I'm in North Central Texas. Winters are mostly mild--we do get below freezing at night pretty often, with days sunny and mild. Summers are BRUTAL.
I just erased Iceland from my bucketlist and wrote Svalbard down. I Love your Videos 😍
I enjoyed it right up to the polar bear bit where the subtitle had to show they are politically correct. Ugh.
Dumfuk alert!
The village is so cute. You have lots. Our village has a school, post office, pub and a church 🙈 I'd need to go to town shop etc. I love that though. The scenery is so unusual for me but magnificent. Looking fwd to seeing more 🌼🌸🌼
Do y'all need a nurse? Lol fighting the urge to go
That was really a nice view into Svalbard. Thanks for Sharing. Will deffo go there soon.

You should! :):)
I'm coming for a visit in June of 2022. Thank you for the preview.
Found out about this place from listening to The Arctic Outpost. And have been fascinated ever since. Thanks for the tour!
No way!! How cool! 🤩🤩
I have fallen in LOVE. I would sooooo like to visit here. And I don’t like cold. Very impressed with what I see.
Thank you 😁😁
I could see my crane in a great video.
Wonderful place. I can watch Longyearbyen every day from a unique perspective😁😁
I just found your channel and I’m hooked! Your videos are amazing! I live in Maine so the snow is more beautiful where you are! Please keep posting videos! My Boston Terrier, BB-8, is in love with Grim! Thanks for the videos. Please let us know where to buy merchandise !
I came across Svalbard while roaming around google earth. Never heard of this island nor knew of its existence. After exploring the terrain and landscape on google earths i googled and read about the island and the main town or village. So curious, interested and wondering what life is like there i therefore came here to RUclips where i saw your video. Such a beautiful place. So peaceful looking and yes friendly people. i wish to one day visit this place. I am from Vanuatu here in the South Pacific, bet you never heard of it. A tiny group of islands in the South Pacific.
Anyways Svalbard and Longyearbyen are definitely on the bucket list. 😍😍
You know that global seed bank? That's in Svalbard.
@@DarDarBinks1986I just googled it right now..that's so cool💯
Thank you Cecilia. Stole your heart too huh? Yeah I feel you on that one. It's beautiful, and I'm certain it gives one a great perspective on the timelessness of being. Looking forward to not binge watching, but savoring, your next video.
