Please make a Tina Marie Movie. She’s the best singer on the planet. I don’t understand why there hasn’t been a movie made about her. It’s probably because she blew away all the other singers. I know she had a lot of haters out there because of her vocals because she wasn’t supposed to sound like this. But she also had the world at her feet. Love you, #TinaMarie
I graduated High School in 1979 and that's when Tina first hit the radio...I fell in love with her voice and musical talent...Tina and Phyllis Hyman are my favorite performers!
I saw Rick James and Tina Marie at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas 38 years ago it was known as the concert of the summer I was literally leaning on the stage watching Rick perform and when Teena Marie came out she brought down the house! I will never forget how listening to her voice made me feel that night so long ago. What an amazing voice amazing Spirit amazing energy and all-around amazing human being she was. She is loved and so greatly missed. She has a very very special place in my heart . God bless you Teena and Rick may you both rest in peace. You will always live inside of our hearts .
I already loved her music, but when she made a song with Gerald Levert who is my favorite male singer ( how can you call a rose by any other name). Well that did it she became my favorite female singer. Now its funny cause my husband is so in love with her and me with Gerald , when we are riding in the car going anywhere we play their song and say they are our real husband and wife. Love and miss you 2 so much.
what I like about these comments is that there is not one negative thing said about Teena Marie ! and really what negative things can you say about her ? she's always kept it real . she knew that she was white but had a black soul in her. Of all the ladies of funk Chaka Khan , Patrice Rushen etc Teena Marie was definitely the queen of funk R&B ! may you rest in peace our queen !!!
mikshank50 -- Its not fair to her memory to say she has a "blacc soul", she was a beautiful white women... And she was proud to be white--no need to discredit her, fam... She was just the best at what she did.
mikshank50 Chaka khan was the Queen of funk. Also Patrice Rushen doesn’t get enough credit for writing, playing instruments and singing soul. I love my Tina, but Chaka is the Queen of that title period. She did it before Tina in the 70’s. Stop discrediting other black women, because if you want to know the truth Tina got her soul influence from black women.
I grew up dancing with Teena Marie. Dance hustle, Latin hustle ,free style to her music. I hear her music, I start to dance and bring back memories. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
That is so true. People sometimes get the idea that people like us that really engage/enjoy the music we grew up on in school, are overly emotional/dramatic when the person dies, til they make you think you are crazy. Not so at all. Really feel for her daughter.,I lost my mother to cancer at age 10, and she was 40.
Some people are going way ahead of their time unfortunately. So much great musicians Marvin Gaye Donny Hathaway Rick James Teena Marie. Teena Marie was the only white girl or person that was allowed on a black radio station WDAS 105.3 out of Philadelphia. Being a white woman myself I was listening to R&B what everybody else was listening to rock and roll. So I was about 17 or 18 years old when I started listening to WDAS FM. And that's where I found my true love and music. And that's where I got all my rhythm from I've been told I have more Rhythm than some people well I used to not anymore in my head I still do though. I think they call Tina Marie The Ivy Queen and lady T of course she had a unique style and in a unique voice thank God to Rick James to notice and bring out the best friend Tina Marie. Loved and missed by many but will never be forgotten as long as your music is playing Tina Marie will live on
Her daughter is so beautiful, she carries all of Teena's features but with a tan. She's well grounded too, which is more than I can say for some celebrities children. Many of them are a hot mess, looks like Teena did a good job raising her daughter.

Teena embodied diversity! She understood it, lived it and in turn shared with all of us the idea that no matter who you are or where you come from and whatever tone your skin, we can find soul and incorporate it in our lives. She is missed sorely
The only thing Negative was that outfit Al Green was wearing my goodness! who Dressed that man that Day,! 👜👢😂 They went a little too funky back in the Day,Lol😂😂😂
Teena Marie!!!😘 she had soul and she was very loved in my household in my community we still play her records😔😔😍😍 OK LADY TEE, YOU KNOW TATS ME!!!!!!😍😍😍
I loved this documentary. It brings back so many special memories while listening to Teena. I am from San Francisco, CA and moved to Rockville, MD to attend college and lived with my family. While driving my Uncle Rupert's big Cadillac through their suburban neighborhood, Teena came on the radio singing "Square Biz", I must have cranked up the music as loud as it could go while grooving on wheels. Boy, when I got home, my uncle told me he could hear the music several minutes before I entered the development. He gave me a pass on that one;I guess he remembered what it felt like being young. Teena just made you feel her music, she was RIVETING! I will ALWAYS love Lady T and her music. I would like my daughter, Joy Mariah Curry Christian, a beautiful singer herself, to learn of Lady T's.,history, passion for music and singing, writing and playing instruments. I'm glad to see Teena's daughter, Alia Rose following in her footsteps and making her own music. Rest in peace Lady T.
My wife and I have Many great nights thanks to this band it sets satisfaction in our nights together. Thank you Rick James and Teena Marie plus the rest of the band are true Legends.. and will always be remembered

Teena Marie is so timeless...what a life ... what a story... She truly was blessed with so much talent and a unique unique voice so recognizable not to be duplicated. This mini documentary was so captivating but at the end...I know she passed happy. Her daughter wow, so strong to say goodbye to a great mom...Sing with the Angels now Teena...make some more music because thats what your good at. Peace!

Teena Marie that was my favorite person she was an amazing woman songwriter entertainer put on a fantastic show I was devastated when she passed on the day after Christmas which is my middle child birthday December 26 I was so upset she had an amazing voice now her voice is with the lord❤❤❤I miss you Teena
kayteeelle How do you know that? Has she ever spoken about black issues? Has she ever credited other black Women? Has she ever contributed to the black community?
Shenyae T you should research up on Tina Marie she raised 4 black young girls and Rick James son. She has donated and helped raise money for poor families in the American ghettoes. She doesn't tear anyone down but has a loving heart towards her community and all people, without judgment.👏👌🙌❤️
God truly has an angel. Teena Marie was one of the classiest performers who was down to earth and very humble. Her and Rick James best collaboration was "fire and desire". Her voice was soulful and she had a range that could touch ur soul. I fully enjoyed the documentary ,she inspired so many people. rEst in peace lady Teena Marie you're sorely missed.
This was beautiful Rest in peace and paradise 🕊️🫶🏽🙏🏽 Many blessings to the family and friends and I pray for healing, happiness, and continued success in your life journey, in Jesus name Amen 🙏🏽
I discovered tina a few years ago, Im only 26, after hearing my late grandmother was a big fan of hers. I am filled to the brim by her cool, joyous and exuberant sound every time. She is all over my music library. In this way she lives on! Ironically she passed the same year as my grandmother. Both white women who had a heart of Soul!
Nobody is like Tina Marie.. I enjoyed all of her music.. my family played Tina Marie.. we love Tina.. sqarebiz oh la la la all of her songs.. Dede Blass the black Madonna
Teena Marie was our greatest Black singer as soul just range so beautiful out of that Black womans mouth. My favorite songs by her was Lover girl and her later song "If I were your Bell." Teena Marie definitely had many lines of BLACK blood in her which is why she sang so black and soulful. And so Teena Marie was a very light skinned Black woman. As some black people do have a white color as they are very light skinned, and that is what Teena Marie was.
Not that color matters but Teena was white period... Either way Teena was a unique soul singer. I haven't heard any women that sounds like her.. Sucks she passed on.. RIP... Lady T your legacy will live on.
Paul Morrison no woman sounds that same ,no one sounds like Betty Wright ,no one sounds like Patrich rushen ,no one sounds like chakra Kane ,no one sounds like Stephanie mills,no one sounds like Dorothy Moore, no one sounds like Shirley brown ,no one sounds like milly Jackson ,no one sounds like Phyllis hyman,no one sounds like Sharon redd,Cheryl Lynn ,no one sounds like Jean knight,Sylvia striplin,no one sounds like the Jones girls ,the emotions the staple sisters .the list goes on their all unique
I've loved Teena Marie from the first time hearing her music. Still to this day, I listen to her music 🎶 wonderful and passionate 💕 person and musician ❤ I miss her being here to continue to bring us her music that's sung from her soul
After hearing my sister and her friends play her in the late 70s, my first full time job in the mid 80s, I went out and bought alllllll of her cassettes that were out! Never mind that it was a half check, since I’d just started working there! I had to get all of her music, immediately! Didn’t think about how ima get to work for the next week. I needed all of her music in my life! Gone too soon. Nothing but respect and love for her, and her immense talent/voice. I think about growing up in East Harlem, Wagner Projects; and, the first time we heard Square Biz, we just knew she was Black! And even though we found out later she wasn’t, it didn’t matter. Her spirit and talent transcends all of that nonsense! Also reminds me of first hearing Lisa Stansfield. I’m rambling now, but I FKn love Teena! Gone too soon… ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I would have loved to see her in concert i know she would bring the house down i still listen to her songs Ooo La la la was one of my favorites but i need ur lovin and square biz and behind the groove those were some of the best
She could SAAAANNGGG!!! Her skin never mattered to me. Her talent is undeniable.
Well stated
She had soul💯
That's why skin should never matter at all. It's wonderful to not care.

I'm so glad i git to see her perform in person. She was amazing🥰🙏🏾❤️
Teena just had it like no one else ! Great voice great looks great mind body and soul.
Teena Marie is definitely one of the few "black sounding" white artists that never Appropiated black culture.
kayteeelle How do you know that? Has she ever spoken about black issues? Has she ever credited other black Women? Has she ever contributed to the black community?
@@shenyaet3350 she did that and what you mad for teena Marie is still a legen
Shenyae T you should research up on Tina Marie she raised 4 black young girls and Rick James son. She has donated and helped raise money for poor families in the American ghettoes. She doesn't tear anyone down but has a loving heart towards her community and all people, without judgment.👏👌🙌❤️
Appropriating is taking and erasing her and Jon B never took or erased they celebrated and stayed in our culture.
@@shenyaet3350 do your research before you get on your fake-ass soapbox, soul sistuh.
What a wonderful tribute to this beautiful lady. ❤️
She was such an inspiration. I miss her voice and artistry. She had soul periodt.

Teena ~ Truly my favorite all-time Timeless Beautiful Soul ~ Beautiful Spirit ~ Songstress - I listen I will never forget - Rest In Peace
Great word's sis!!
I loved her music, she was everything that is beautiful, r I p lady T x
Your Delusional....like most liberal Progressives...LOL
Thumbs down
Paul Morrison no woman sounds that same ,no one sounds like Betty Wright ,no one sounds like Patrich rushen ,no one sounds like chakra Kane ,no one sounds like Stephanie mills,no one sounds like Dorothy Moore, no one sounds like Shirley brown ,no one sounds like milly Jackson ,no one sounds like Phyllis hyman,no one sounds like Sharon redd,Cheryl Lynn ,no one sounds like Jean knight,Sylvia striplin,no one sounds like the Jones girls ,the emotions the staple sisters .the list goes on their all unique
And people think she was underated, thank you Ivory Queen for all the great albums.
im 22 and i love teena so much, i grew up to her music through my Grandma, Rest Easy Beautiful Lady!

Lady T was gracious loving and so much more! Her daughter is sweet and brilliant like her Mama! God bless h them!🙏♥️🙏♥️🙏
I just watch this fell in love with her all over again. She was truly the ivory queen of soul, rest in peace.
I've loved Teena Marie from the first time hearing her music. Still to this day, I listen to her music 🎶 wonderful and passionate 💕 person and musician ❤ I miss her being here to continue to bring us her music that's sung from her soul
She could dance too all the greats are gone music will never be like this again
I love your comment
I understand your Lisa Stansfield comment but, Lady T was on a different level.
I would have loved to see her in concert i know she would bring the house down i still listen to her songs Ooo La la la was one of my favorites but i need ur lovin and square biz and behind the groove those were some of the best
Shanice Wilson, too! Wow....what a beautiful voice.,...and Teena Marie as her mentor....she would be so proud of this young lady! RIP Teena Marie ♥️🙏
