When are people going to learn? Nothing happens in Baator that isn't part of Asmodeus' plans. If you think you're pulling one over on him, he's got you exactly where he wants you. 🤦
Well said.
Are you assuming Asmodeus is real? 😂 but seriously, at his level *A* plan is a lie, there are many plans all based on possible out comes
I mostly agree. But an aspect of Tiamat roams Avernus (I think). I guess I look at possibly a greater god, certainly a powerful draconic one, and think, "does Asmodeus allow Tiamat to, for example, gate in devils, or does he bend over backward to not cross her"
Would add that, again, very much opinion, but I see a strong opportunity for narrative involving the Abishai. Whom do they serve? She is their creator.
Glasya: Princess of Hell sounds like an anime
If anyone's wondering why Asmodeus didn't punish the rebels that harshly, remember: "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer."
Not only that, BUUUUTT!
Better the devil you know than the one that you don't!
🤓
@@anthonyromasco3528 This dude gets it.
@Hilary Charania BEGONE BOT!!
glasya is her father's daughter, she plots and schemes on behalf of her father waiting till the day that she can assume his power. Her father would not have it any other way, what makes asmodeous well...himself is that he has so many pieces on the playing field that she never has the chance to make it happen. Glasya is a powerful ally, one whos greed is predictable and as long as asmodeous can stay many steps ahead of the schemes of his allies and his enemies he can count on his daughter to do what she does best until one day she gets the best of him. either way asmodeous is a proud father.
Haven't seen The Princess Bride
inconceivable!
You keep using that word.
I do not think it means what you think it means.
*Literally anything happens in Baator, or in relation to it*
Asmodeus: "All according to keikaku"
I can't even imagine how entertaining it is for Asmodeus to watch as all these mere ants try and rise up against him. Especially cause none of them even know who he truly is and never will lol
Asmodeus from AD&D2ndE Planescape and the Guide to the Nine Hells, feeds directly off of souls from people that commit suicide. Did a few mini games where the PC loses all faith and commit suicides but still stubborn enough to have some faith and belief in themselves. They show up in the Ninth Layer seeing the unimagine truth of reality before them.
Then on a daily bases roll int/wis/cha checks to keep from losing their sanity, and experience slow regeneration as cornugon devils claw at them and drop them off of cliffs.
If the PC manage to gain sanity points they transform into free willed fiends or wights.
What is the nature of endurance, ..?
Even in death you can not escape from one's own self.
I feel like I need a cork board on the wall, covered in pictures and red string to follow all of this.
Try researching it!
@@AJPickett I don't envy you.
The First time I saw one of your vids within seconds of it being posted! Just wanted to say I really appreciate what you do,. After 20+ years of DMing I still learn from your vids.
Thanks Sven!
Woah. I literally JUST tempted the Paladin in my campaign into a deal with Glasya last week. This is going to be such useful info
I LITERALLY KNEW EVERYTHING EXCEPT GLASYA KILLING HER MOM! Damn that story of 'Levistus did it' was too clear cut of a story. 16 year old me is screaming now.
I've been drooling for this video since you first started covering Baator. Thanks, AJ!
Oh, and I am with you on Asmodeus orchestrating everything. I mean, Asmodeus doesn't just live in Baator, he's such a part of it that he essentially *IS* Baator. Coincidentally, I made her often have her fingers in cults, thieves' guilds, and command Erinyes in the Prime Material in my campaigns in the 80s... sometimes opposing other "Nine Hells" forces in the process. She seemed to fit even back then. I admit my interest was first lured in by my lust for her artwork. Don't judge, I was a teen. ;p
I love it when you talk really nerdy to me.
Lol that sounded really....ummmm? Nevermind! 😂😂😂
I just had Glasya enter my campaign, with an avatar of herself running a tower of fellow devils on a crowded skull of a dead god the size of a moon. With a bit of lore hints I think I can get her pretty close the Glasya you describe, running a soul and slave trade.
I had her enter too, but she got killed when the Lady destroyed her entire layer
I am definitely using her in my campaign now.
She was pretty much my "go to" devil in my campaigns in the 80s. She is so wickedly diverse you can use her anywhere.
Glasya's got a disease to melt the flesh from your bones.
Daurgothoth, I learned a few days ago, can simply melt your bones with a breath weapon.
D&D villians: always with the imaginative melting of enemies.
You gotta be careful banging them 9 hells babes.
That herpes simplex-666 is a real man-eater!
🤓
The level of logistical gymnastics involved in diabolic politics is mind boggling. A knife for every back and an endless supply of schemes to plot just to move up the social ladder. Although none can outmatch Asmodeus when it comes to being 10 steps ahead of the rest, even daddy's little girl.
AJ, I really enjoy your videos. Back in my 3.5 days I was considered a walking Monster Manual, but your knowledge dwarfs mine. Looking forward to more videos as always.
Quite the impressive collection of lore you have assembled here.
Glasaya!!! Whoooooohoooo
Thank you AJ been hoping for this one
I can imagine that Asmodeus may know that this was his plan, but Glasya believes she's getting away with the whole thing. I can also imagine that even Asmodeus is himself playing the role of puppet, perhaps to a master he thinks he bested & killed. The Nine Hells are a fantastic web of intrigue. Who knows, maybe even the Blood War as a whole is part of a larger plot to say ensure the Illithid pan temporal Empire all run by a Supreme Elder Brain, or other such mastermind?
I'm listening...
I've heard that one, but in most versions, the mastermind is the General of Gehenna the ruler of the yugoloths. Supposedly.
@@briancorvello3620 not pazazu who gave Asmodeus the heart of evil and possibly corrupted him?
@@dude9822 I think Tharizdun did that; it's how the Abyss was created, at least in 4th edition.
Pazuzu is an obyrith, which is the Chaotic type of Elder Evil.
@@AJPickett why not throw in a Matermind who has never revealed himself at all? It's not hard to imagine such a force being able to completely erase all of his history through assassination & memory corruption.
A GM could mine other settings for the puppeteer behind Amadeus besides D&D, even if they have a D&D counterpart. From In Nomine you could pull Kobal the Prince Of Dark Humor, he's using the Blood War & the War of Good versus Evil to weave a cosmic joke by the general upon the particular.
Also in the RPG In Nomine Kronos is in control of the concept of Fate, the worst possible future, I can Chronos as a Yugoloth ascended to Godhood running both sides of the Blood war to drive the Multiverse into an Entropic ruin of wreckage & misery before finally snuffing it out altogether.
The Eldest Brain could be another such Mastermind, it acts as a Pan-Temoral MEGA Brain using all of the lesser Elder Brains as neuron bundles & the illithid as nerve endings, the slaves of the mind flayers are the equivalent of muscle tissues etc. Basically this mastermind is a giant organism that is spread out across all of interplanar space time.
The final option is to go META & have the characters find out about the nature of their existence & realize that they are merely playthings of other intelligence on a higher realm of existence. IE the characters find out that there really is a Gaming Operations Director (GOD,) or Gaming Operations Director Doing Sadistic Stuff (GODDESS.)
Ah, I love seeing a new video about the Lords of the Nine Hells and the Abyss! The Nine Hells in particular has such labyrinthine politics that you can easily do a video on any individual archdevil, and still get a bit more information on all the other archdevils. Well done!
Glasya is one of my favorites, she is always several steeps ahead of everyone. Except for Amsodeus, but for how long?
Daddy’s little girl.
I think that is the point. If she can't keep up with him she would never be a good heir. I wouldn't be surprised if raising his daughter to be his successor is part of his end game to end the blood war and lay siege to the heavens
Fun fact: Glasya's daughter, Sfena, is the founder of the Iron Throne organization from the Baldur's Gate game.
really where did you find this?
@@Scortch-lo3xy From a D&D 3rd Edition sourcebook called "Lords of Darkness". In the pages detailing Sfena, it says she was born in 1278 DR, that is three years before the events of the Icewind Dale game, and she founded the Iron Throne 21 years before the Baldur's Gate game's story in 1347 DR. She was trained as an assassin in Baator, working for her mother Glasya (The identity of Sfena's father is a mystery) who kept her on a tight leash and prevented her from advancing in the baatezu hierarchy.
21 years before the Baldur's Gate game, during a mission on Faerûn, a strange incident occurred when she was captured by storm giants: her body transformed into a hard crystalline substance, which had the effect of removing her connection to Baator, forcing her to stay in the Material Plane. Sfena decided to create the Iron Throne as method to cure herself. Her plan was to construct a rich and powerful mercantile organization and trade it to a powerful devil in exchange for a cure. Even though the iron crisis was stopped by Sarevok's sibling who was raised by Gorion, Sfena still managed to make the Iron Throne fairly rich in the few following years. But in 1371 DR, which is two years after the events of Baldur's Gate 2 Shadows of Amn (and one year after Throne of Bhaal) and one year before Neverwinter Nights, Sfena was betrayed by her lieutenant, a male half-moon elf named Maready tipped off Glasya on where her daughter is, and Glasya forced Sfena to return to the Nine Hells, allowing Maready to take over as leader of the Iron Throne.
With this information in mind, its easy to realize that selling the Iron Throne to a devil when it is the richest mercantile organization in exchange for a cure for her condition is the very reason why she permitted Sarevok's foster father's plan to poison all the iron in the Sword Coast and hoard all the pure iron so that people will buy weapons, armor and farming tools made out of pure iron from them, which would make the Iron Throne filthy rich.
@@LightStreak567 i see very cool will have to check it out
Glasya has been stuck with the unenviable task of playing Dragonchess against the man who invented it, after herself just learning the fundamentals of Checkers.
She's a serious contender that definitely takes after her father and displays incredible potential, but... well, Asmodeus is Asmodeus. That's going to end as well for her as he decides it does.
I've come around to the conclusion that the only way to defeat Asmodeus is to come at him with such overwhelming force and power that no amount of scheming could even hope to turn things around. Unfortunately for those interested in seeing him dethroned, I'm pretty sure the only known beings capable of this are Ao and Tharizdun. Ao, being Ao, never would, and if Tharizdun ever gets sufficiently free to attempt the deed, then the fate of Asmodeus is the least of the multiverse's concerns.
Also, it seems likely that Glasya's Devils assist mortals in getting out of contracts even if the mortal refuses to enter one with her. The Devils surely act as if they won't (if they can squeeze something out of you, they're sure to try), and I'm certain the vast majority fall for it hook, line, and sinker, but it only makes sense that they would assist regardless. It's a fantastic way to undermine her enemies and curtail their growth and power, and it costs her literally nothing. I suspect this is essentially unknown do to the fact that almost all would go for the deal, and those who don't are probably threatened with a fate far worse than death if they mention the assistance to _anyone._
The Splat book Elder Evils suggested that Zargon (one of the Elder Evils) is somebody he DOES NOT want freed. The book claims Zargon was ruler of Hell before Asmodeus took over and might know something Asmodeus doesn't want known.
There's also the matter of Armaros, one of the"Rabble of Devilkin" (powerful devils who were stripped of their positions for one reason or another, but are considered too valuable to kill. supposedly, he's one of the most powerful Archmages in the multiverse and even more powerful than asmodeus, who is the only one allowed to visit him. Which he often does.its conceivable he also knows something that could detrimental to the Overlord of Hell
@@briancorvello3620
I'm sure there's more people than that who know things that Asmodeus would much rather go unknown, though probably not many. I'd imagine there's more skeletons in Asmodeus' closet than most graveyards.
My contention is that knowing something useful about someone and doing something with that knowledge are two radically different things- especially when that someone is the greatest schemer in the known multiverse.
Out of all the games i played, i only seen Her her used by a DM in the Rod Of Seven Parts. She had found and hidden a piece. She used our group to filter out Her dads spies and mad it look like Mestophese & Dispator did it to get a piece of the rod to experiment with...
Leave it to Asmodeus to be the best spin man of all time. Along with being the most powerful devil in the Nine.
This was great. I'd love one on Fierna though. The "female" archdevils always intrigued me, and given that Fierna and her father are the only co-rulers of the Hells, I think they're pretty interesting.
Thank you very much for creating this video!!! Glasya is my favorite archdevil, but there is so little information about her on the internet! You really saved me!
No problem 😊
Real Housewives of the Nine Hells
Nine hell's looks like first 4 seasons of game of thrones, every body plotting a plot on enemies plot , and more plots for this plots.
Game of Thrones was the PG version of this.
I just thought of the absolute perfect example of how Asmodeus would respond to a underling who's decided to get snippy and it is the scene in the Netflix anime Castlevania where Godfrey decides to confront Dracula about the fact that if he completely wipes out the humans then vampires will inevitably have no humans left to eat and therefore starve. Look it up and you'll see what I mean LOLXD!!.. 😂
You mean when Godbrand attempts to confront Dracula.
The hells are a bit unique after the various PC's managed to trick/ shunt a few elder evils there. Definitely will have to start a campaign of after the end vibe. Glasya sounds like she has the best chance of survival of such a reckoning
My headcanon is that she has been consciously and willingly working for daddy all this time.
Her failures? Planned.
Her acts of rebellion? Staged.
The stories of her deeds? Propaganda.
Do you really think someone as ruthless as Asmodeus would tolerate someone that, supposedly, is openly scheming against him and angling for his throat? Even if that snake is his daughter?
"Glasya, before we get engaged, I gotta know. Do you have daddy issues?"
"Like you wouldn't believe..."
Well, of course he doesn't. He just puts that ambition to use. Look at the arch Devils. Most of them would gleefully betray Asmodeus and he knows it. But he keeps them all balanced against each other so they never dare make a move. So that the only safety to be hard is in law. HIS law. Grinding that into them until they cannot imagine ever going against it. But there is always cleverly manipulating the letter of the law for your benefit.
Mephistopheles also openly and flagrantly vies for Asmodeus' throne, to the point Asmodeus is just as openly annoyed by him, but he keeps Mephistopheles around because he's useful. I think the same goes for Glasya. He knows neither of them would be able to properly take him down, not with the amount of surveillance he has on them, but he knows they're good at what they do and he has to choose whether he wants someone good at the job or someone that isn't constantly scheming against him. And good luck finding the latter anywhere in Hell.
Bro was researching her for a campaign thanks you found info I never would have, you ROCK!!
Ah I wish you would have talked a bit about her fight with the Demon Lord Graz‘zt. But great video!
King Obould Many-Arrows is in desperate need of some attention in these lore videos, being probably the dopest orc in DnD
Agreed.
I'm super excited for a devil lorr series
Seen/ listen to this video before. It is still enjoyable ..!
And spent close to two hours reading all of the current 316 comments of the fan base.
Time well spent.
I live for the comments.
@@AJPickett I am soo sorry, I forgot to wish you a good weekend. But it looks like you are already having a great weekend..!
God bless.
Glaysa is so interesting, I wish she got more focus. Shes literally the daughter of Asmodeus, like how unique can a devil get? Maybe one day we will get an adventure path where she and Fierna are major players.... Like a Reckoning of Hell 2 type situation but instead of devils fighting devils its adventurers being used as pawns in an infernal chess game. I can see the archduchesses trying to off their fathers, but taking on Asmodeus is a big nono so theyd prolly just be eliminating Levistus and Belial.
I'd love to see more of the two as well, in fact in my own game planning to change up position of some devils. Been thinking glaysa and fierna may rule together now be it friends/lovers unsure or perhaps control closer connected realms to aid each other.
Plan to tinker with most devils minus asmudoes and melf.
You'd have to get to Levistus to eliminate him. Is he still in the ice in current canon?
Have a game where everyone pulls an index card to see which PC they will be playing.
Have one player get Glaysa as a character, game is set before she has been given any .. duties.
Magic equipment are wands/ rods of Polymorph Other and Flesh to Stone.
Objective, turning mid to high level npc into Soul Stones for trade and self empowerment.
Or to use a Iron Flask to lock away a demon lord during the Blood War to permanently remove them from the playing field and prevent them from being reincarnated back in the Abyss.
Glasya has 69 hp....
Very funny, Mr. Gygax.
Consorts were spies for Asmodeus basically. They were not suppose to be tanks. I did increase their hit points by 50% though.
@@joeward2009 Uh, you really want me to explain the "joke" here?
Think what is the number 69 often associated with?
Guess you are thinking with the head that gets you paternity suits and w case of the drips.
They should have never reworked the Outer Planes of Existence. The 9 Hells are the 9 Hells. I still use the 1e and 2e model (predominantly) for the extra-cosmic structure of D&D reality.
It's had fairly radical changes with each edition, that's kind of the tradition now.
much agreed. thats my beef with Wizards of the Coast, they change too much of the original lore instead of building on it.
So if you buy into the belief that Asmodeus is actually the creator being Ahriman, that would make Glasya something akin to a deity herself by birthright. If that were true then either Asmodeus is keeping her power potential in check, or the fact that she was sired by his Avatar and not him directly means that she was never meant to inherit but a fraction of his power.
She is a purpose made tool. And her hatred is likely because she knows it. She no doubt has the same potential to rise as a divine child but unlike Asmodeus she will never be allowed to inherit any more than she has already been granted. Asmodeus already knows all that she could use to steal that divine spark he wretched from his brother and nurtured since. Who better, right? I don't doubt she is intended to eventually rule the hells, once Asmodeus has restored himself enough to leave his hidey hole in his true slender.
Can't believe i never commented on this video but thanks for making it! I knew that Glasya had a rather interesting story and that she could easily make for an awesome campaign villain.
Scortch! Hello, I missed you, where have you been?
@@AJPickett For a while I sorta drifted away from dnd as a whole, The lore, the running the game videos from our master Matt the colville, It just seemed like I was missing some of the magic I had felt in the beginning when I first started out, and well I felt like I just wasn't cut out to be DM.
eventually I reasoned that the problem was actually found in many of the other things that where going on in my life and some of the things still going on right now, Lets just say that Lock down was not kind to old scortch.

Ever since MToF came out, I've been super interested in the devils due to the Tiefling subraces based on them. I'm currently playing a Glasya Tiefling lore Bard.

always nice for videos on fiends given the first books i got were the 3E books tyrants of the 9 hells and the hordes of the abyss still some of my favorite dnd lore books that i have
i would say some devils are ether solely made from mortal souls or similar sources like lemurs basically ones who are 100% for labour or military purposes or such being infertile while those who are more likely to interact with mortals or more office type work sometimes are able to have children the Erinyes are one main type of devils that are known for this capability being not just a unique trait of a few unique individuals apparently the parents are also quite protective of their children have secret guarded locations where they are kept safe the other main type being the brachinas/infernal succubi
All of the them. Tell us about all of them. Arch fiends and planar rulers in general is my favorite content. Gods too
Great videos! But One small correction @8:34 - mammon was never transformed into a slug form, that was
Baalzebul
Ah, thank you! I get those two muddled up there. Mammon does undergo a transformation, in one version, into a serpent form, to prove his renewed devotion to Asmodeus, if I recall?
@@AJPickett He took the serpent lower half as an insult to Geryon and his being exiled if I recall. But Asmodeus allowed it so it had to benifit him.
My friends little brother that passed away when he was 19 had a character named "The Grimly" who was an anti-paladin and in honor of Greg he decided to continue playing his PC for him and wound up after 10 years of hard campaigning got to an unbelievable 45th level! He then proceded to journey to the infernal palace of Asmodeus to formally ask permission to "woo" Glasya, well Asmodeus said thats not going to be a problem save the fact she was Mammons consort. So he promptly made preparations with fellow hardcore players and journeyed to the 6th layer of hell and challenged Mammon to have the rights to Glasyas hand. He slew Mammon and quickly with her help took his place as the new ruler of the 6th layer. Needless to say he was NOT happy with the end result as he could no longer freely travel to where ever he wanted anymore unless he was summoned by a devoted follower! Boy was Ron pissed when he realized his mistake, but he soon got the hang of running his new greater-pitfiend. and hes been happy ever since. Best times. I only ever had one character attain god status.. Belchimeral the god of psionics.
@@AJPickett wow bet hes an amazing psionic surgeon!
I want more of this.
All DnD has a plot and a time line across this editions. I want to know more about characters like this and the planes as they moved from 1st to 5th.
info like this is so hard to find on DnD as most people don't even really know DnD does have somewhat as a plot
Also some info on Geryon
Poor Geryon.. he deserves a video.
IMO, sex among devils (as well as other spirit entities in the lore) is entirely fluid. They are as they choose to appear. Not sure if, or how much changing this would change their conciousness as a whole, but I bet they could change their sex. I also imagine that they can properly breed like mortals do, but don't often because they hate each other so
That's how I run Angels. But devils and demons specifically have succubus and Erinyes for this reason. So that kind of goes against established lore for not much reason
I read in one 3.5 source that the only devils who can bear children are erniyes, brachina (which are evolved erinyes) and unique females like Glasya; with the first two, it might have something to do with how they're direct descendants of the original host of fallen angels that, er, fell with Asmodeus.
Male devils, however, cannot sire offspring with other devils, but they can with mortals, and most sources say that can be worse than being killed by one.
So.. like nudibranchs, try to stab the other with a harpoon penis because the loser has to rear kids which causes them to become weak and usually die post child birth.
New lore discovered?
Nailed it. They’re not constrained as mortals are, so why wouldn’t they? Address them as they appear (if your characters are so brave), or by an honorary/title, if it’s been made known. Refer to them however you want; doesn’t matter if they’re not there.
I mean since true polymorph is a thing in dungeons and dragons anyone of high enough magical power can but it’s more than likely they will mostly keep to mail forms as they are a humanoid and the humanoid male form is stronger thereby being more suited to fighting and b It’s probably part of a self image thing once you’ve spent 1000 years looking one way you probably don’t want to change too much
Glasya was like the Paris Hilton of Bator.. pretty much a hellish version of the " Dumb Blonde" archetype . she thought she was rebelling and plotting.. but all along she was always just a puppet for Asmodeus to use lol
except that she's not dumb? She is playing the long game just like her daddy.
I was really curious about the story of the hag being referenced in Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes, definitely going to have to listen to this one a few more times after my session today.
Careful AJ! The 1 dislike is clearly Asmodeus, angry that you're revealing secrets not meant for mortal ears! Interestingly enough that means he has a RUclips account so now I'm burdened with the curiosity of what his YT history looks like 😂

personally I believe the fallen serpent origin to be the most likely to be true, and given that origin has him stuck and still healing, how dose he spawn children like her and graz'zt or is his avatar that most know him as have the ability to act as a vessel for him to reproduce and spawn such children? I really wanna know if there is an in universe explination for that part in a case where the serpent origin is true
Do you think an entity powerful enough to create Avatars, would really have any difficulty producing offspring with another entity? People get hung up on this stuff, they really do. All of it is a blank space that has been filled in after these figures were written up and put into the game setting by the original authors.. they didn't care about the little biological details, if demon or devil lords want to produce offspring, spawn, minions or monsters, they do something flashy, evil and magical that there is a chance adventurers or rivals can mess with in the form of a dramatic, story event... otherwise, it doesn't really matter at all right?
AJ Pickett I know, is just I was kinda under the impression that the avatar might be basically a fancy illusion, am just curious cuz I love the lore and tend to stick close to it even with my own, one of my own stories/campains I've been working on but kind procrastinating for a few years now, and one of the key plot points involves a mortal offspring of his
@@digunder14 Avatars are far more than fancy illusions. That's why deities are limited on how many they can have active at any one time. Each is essentially a piece of the deity themself, given the ability to function independently
If Asmodeus is indeed a Greater God,he has plenty of ways to sire children.
No Asmodius is not a God that is why he's bound to the Abyss. There are rumors however that he may in fact be a dragon God. He's simply too injured to leave the Abyss right now.
uh what where are you getting this?
Serpent, a gigantic serpent. You see this in very early source materials and in 4th edition he is depicted more like a fallen divine Coatl.
@@AJPickett but he is a god right and he is in baator not the abyss right?
@@Scortch-lo3xy sry divine serpent not dragon.

The endless scheming and betrayal. The nine hells are worse then you can ever expect
Infinitelt better, and infinitely worse than the abyss.
Almost as bad as our own political system.
A thing that always confused me is that Glasya is "just a Devil". Whatever the various Lords of Hell are, she is like another one of them, but Asmodeus is not. His own backstory is complicated, but it's weird that whatever he really is, or whatever projection he can make I'd, can unite with one of them, or a fallen Angel; whatever Bensozia was, and create Glasya. She doesn't seem to have any exceptional power, beyond being a mighty, unique Devil. She didn't seem to inherit any abilities from Asmodeus, as a great, winged serpent thing, and that always made me wonder if he just "created" her as his daughter, as another power play within the hierarchy? I also assume that even she knows nothing about his true form, and secret objectives, whether she is of his blood, or not.
Maybe it's just the Evil part, but I am always surprised with how conniving, and backstabbing, Devils are. Law is a part of them, and I always assumed that they craved, even needed hierarchy, rules, and contracts, but then every one of them looks to break things; twist outcomes to their benefit, and grab up as much as they can. It's almost like they are secretly Chaotic, bur averse to actually breaking the rules, so they struggle to find holes, and they seem incapable, every single one of them, to find any benefit in their current spot, or the success of the system they set out to make. Maybe they need to be that way to rise to such lofty heights, and maybe only the Lawful Neutral of Mechanicus could so enjoy just being a cog in the wheel, instead of the will behind what the machine does, but while it is predictable that they'll connive, I'm always surprised none are without naked ambition. I had an idea for a character, and Glasya was actually related to it, which is why I bring all this up here, but part of hus theme was loyalty; just to her, instead of a more worthy monster. I get that trust is impossible for such a being, even when Law is important, but he would be very loyal to her ,and try to achieve her goals. His ambition would be to see hers realized, and hope to be appreciated, and fawned over by her, in payment for his services, but maybe then he'd still be the bizarre, unique example among the lot. I obviously never got there, as the part if bring an adventuring character, doing whatever, would actually feel minor compared to entering her service, and doing her bidding, hoping that at least a fragment of actual appreciation might squirm into her, despite what she really is, but it still sticks with me, from time to time.
You have to look at what the Erinyes are to see it. They aren’t native-born devils. They are the angels from the fight with chaos, before evil was created. The bargain Asmodeus made for the Hells doesn’t bind the Erinyes to the Hells. They are exiled from the heavens, but not bound to the hells. They’re fallen angels, free to come and go as they please.
Could the ritual that the hag tried to use to become a god be the same as the raven queens ritual? Interesting thought
the biggest flaw the hag countess did was attempting the ritual in the hells. No doubt it was sabotaged in a myriad of ways from the very onset.
@@zacharyhawley1693 you are probably right. Seeing as Asmodeus basically has control of everything, it would have only succeeded if he allowed it to.
Natasel I’m talking about the hag countess which is a night hag which is classified as a fiend in the monster manual despite being a hag
Finding and sorting through information on Baalphegor has been hard to do. Seems to be she's worth a real delve since she is a favorite of Asmodeus, but the consort of the one lord that openly opposes him.
This might be a retcon, but I'm pretty sure I'm pretty sure Beelzebub and Baalzebul were different guys. Baalzebul was never the ruler of the Nine Hells, he was just some young upstart trying to speedrun his way to Asmodeus's job. Also, he's not a slug anymore.
The ruler of the 7th Layer has always been Baalzebul, he is only named Beelzebub in some third -party sourcebooks. Clearly, his name is based on that of the mythical Beelzebul, although why there was ever a change - unlike Mammon, Moloch, and Mephistopheles, for instance - is hard to say.
@@briancorvello3620 Mephistopheles, isn't that the guy that messes with Spiderman and Doctor Strange ?
My bad, different multiverse and publishing company.
Then again ...
@@krispalermo8133 Originally the Silver Surfer, but after a while he tended to be trouble for every hero in Marvel.
Seriously, though, both versions of Mephistopheles are named after a much, much older name. Even Christopher Marlowe based the character on one from a much older story.
If you could dig up some more info on Baalphegor that would be cool. Caermor is, I think, overlooked too often.
AD&D2e " Guide to the Nine Hells,"
Glasya first appear in D&D in this book, more or less. My first games shop I went to at 21 years old ran some ranches games with her character. Any player who had a character that figure out how to make Soul Stones/ Coins had Glasya showing up in game along with night hags.
When 3e came out, we just pushed her up into lesser god hood and ran Glasya at the challenge rating of a Titan CR25. We even ran a campaign where everyone had to draw an index card as to what character we were playing that given day. So we all took turns playing a teenage Glasya on a power trip. Sounds really silly but if your character can't teleport cause the location prevents it, and you have to run for you life from demons. The game goes from silly to " dam I don't want to lose another character level Hd when I end back up in Baator again."
Loremaster, what a lesson you give. The weak flesh sees the beauty. However, The Lady steels my shuttering soul. This very much -not- a maiden needs be purified in holy light, and given lessons in how to deal with people in some way other than murder........ DAMN!! I still keep trying to save her! Lady forgive me! I am weak!....... She is very Pretty....
This was a Awesome video....I gotta wonder if Malcanthet would team up with her since even though she is still a Demon Lord she now has a presence in the hells as well🤷🏼♂️😈💯
I already know that I'm going to like this one. Preemptive like
Lol, same here. :)
Thanks for posting I’ve been waiting for this one and it’s just in time for the game I run
Since Graz'zt is supposedly Glasya's brother/half- brother, it would be interesting to see what their relationship, if any outside of blood, would be like. Given that Graz'zt is tied to seduction and has a history with Malcanthet (Queen of the Succubi), it wouldn't be too much of a reach if he had any lust or contempt for Glasya (leader of the Erinyes). And also, incest isn't a great concern for Devils and Demons, as seen with the rumored father/daughter/lover relationship of Belial and Fierna. Maybe Glasya is intrigued by her older brother, who was her father's edgelord rebellious son. Asmodeus told him "my house, my rules", and he up and left the house. Graz'zt wasn't about to be the conformist, corporate son his dad wanted him to become. He didn't want to take over the family business, rather he wanted to make a name for himself and not live under his father's shadow.
Erinyes are fallen angels. They’re older than the Nine Hells. They were part of Asmodeus’ army of angels fighting against chaos before evil existed.
That’s why the Erinyes are outside of the devilish hierarchy and why they can freely travel to the prime material, unlike the devils born since the Nine Hells were created. They are exiled from the heavens, not bound to the hells.
Modenkainen's Tome of Foes gave an actual quote from Glasya, presumably relayed to Mordenkainen himself:
"Of course I love my father! Without him, who would I strive against?"
This enraged her father, who punished her serverly
@@thomastakesatollforthedark2231 for claiming she opposed him, or claiming she loved him?

Glasya was made to be Mammon's concubine? Wow. That's horribly disgusting. Asmodeus comes up with the best punishments.
At that point Mammon was actually decent looking, but Personality wise he has always been gross.

What happened to Malagard oddly mirrors what happened to Karsus when he cast his 12th level spell. I wonder if Malagard attempted the same thing but using souls as a sacrifice.
I think the main difference is that Malagard would likely have managed to do it, if she was not sabotaged (on multiple fronts, right from the very outset).
The next time someone asks me to run a thieves' guild campaign, I will turn to them and go say, "Have you heard the story of Glasya of the Sixth?"
If they say no, then I will smile and say, "Sure, I can run one."
