  • Classic DOS demo that uses the Sound Blaster to play a version of Doctorin' The House. 80286, EGA, 512K RAM.

This is only 24p because it was the cleanest way to convert the video which runs at the full framerate of 70Hz (adjust 70 to 72 and then /3). Until RUclips supports more than 30p, this is as clean as you can get without motion artifacts. (UPDATE: RUclips now supports 60p so I'll have to redo this video at some point.)
Top scrolltext reads: HOWDY, welcome to our third SOUNDBLASTER demo. This one is called COLDCUT and is really BIG. Sorry about that but i think the result is OK ! This piece of art was made by : Eric Oostendorp ( Coding and Graphics. ) , Wido Riezebos ( Graphics ) and CBM AMIGA 500 ( Samples ). Now lets talk about our following demos, it should be something 3d wireframe graphics and ADLIB supported. But first is our next SOUNDBLASTER demo, where you can play all AMIGA SOUNDTRACKER and NOISETRACKER modules live on your SOUNDBLASTER !!! It will be like a CD player, but without remote control ! Cool uh ? So I would like to say : to be continued ........
Second scrolltext reads: We are still searching for some graphic artists and cool musicians, so if you are interested, call our BBS : 070-3585109 or send your work to : Ultraforce Software Development Postbus 63048 3002 JA Rotterdam. If you want a demo or slideshow programmed by us for a good price, you can also write to the adress above ( on the left ). The SOUNDBLASTER and ADLIB cards are great and if you have none, you can always call ( or write ) us, to order one of these cards for a very good price !
Third scrolltext reads: Ultraforce Software Development are : Remco de Berk, Arjan Brussee, Bram Graveland, Michel Hooymans, Josha Munnik, Eric Oostendorp , Wido Riezebos and Eric Soonius.

I'm so glad this is here. I've been looking for a video of this demo for decades, and I finally found it. That tune has been looping in my head all this time.

I found the original tune they sampled, it's the Upset Remix, but the demo speeds it up slightly, so the Upset Remix sounds a little slow if you heard it from the demo first :-D

Coldcut isn't using the Sound Blaster's ADPCM playback, it's plain 8-bit uncompressed.

+PCem I thought it was ADPCM because the samples are not stored 8-bit uncompressed. I'll have to disassemble the binary to figure out what scheme it uses. I'll amend the description.

+PCem You're 100% correct, the samples are very simply encrypted on disk but decoded to 14705Hz 8-bit unsigned PCM before playback starts. My bad! I've amended the description. Thanks for catching this.

Actually, the original specific music used for the demo is the Upset Remix: ruclips.net/video/-bBQZ0xOz7g/видео.html
