Bird was a two way player. He hustled on defense. That's what playing D is all about. Not resting when the other team has the ball. When the best player is diving and scrapping and menacing all over the court, it becomes infectious to your team, immediately making everyone aware to give it all they got. Good vid bro...

Been a fav of mine for awhile now Never get tired of it!It's very satisfying to see so many defensive plays turn into fast break points.

Larry was a GREAT team defender....though he had the size to play man up against post players fairly effective.
His hand speed is fantastic. And he was always hustling. 😊

Look how much they scrapped for position under the basket. That was very tough physical play. Positioning and floor awareness puts a player in a "ready" mode to be able to try for a steal or a block. It's not just about being fast on your feet. But that isn't readily apparent unless you know what you're looking at, and I appreciate that you know what you're seeing in these videos.

That was a good one, for sure. He played HARD. Every minute.

When you see Bird defending Sampson, you have to marvel as he was giving up 7 full inches of height.

Sorry to say this, but Bird owned Jordan. I counted like 4 or 5 blocks and a couple steals on Jordan. Bird's anticipation on where to be, along with lightening quick hands made him a true menace on defense. I don't see anyone, past or present, who had the hustle and heart to put his body on the line every night the way Bird did. For me, it's not about how many titles a person has that makes that person the GOAT. It's what you bring to the team. How you conduct yourself as the leader on the team and never backing down from anyone or any challenge. Bird was a winner and he made his team all winners. He knew how to bring out the best in each player and his unselfish style of play was what helped highlight the other players true talents. Bird was aggressive, hard nosed and didn't take crap from anyone. He didn't fear any player, no matter how good they thought they were. Bird will always be my GOAT. That will always be MY opinion. Jordan will always be great, but Bird just had his number, no matter how much Jordan scored. Jordan learned the hard way in the 80's that to be a great player, you need to learn to utilize your players around you. He tried too hard to do it on his own. Larry and Magic both knew how to get the best out of their teams and that's what made them so hard to beat. Just my two cents.

Anyone who watches Larry’s actual GAMES knows Larry is wherever he needs to be, whether offense or defense, and it didn’t matter who it was. Even against Jordan. His mixtape might be highlights, but his ENTIRE CAREER WAS A HIGHLIGHT.

If we are too judge these guys at all, it has to be their overall effectiveness in their prime at the peak of their powers. All this blah blah I hear about Bird wasn't good at defense, Bird had it easy shooting 3 pointers, he was a great passer but not in LeBron's level on and on it goes. I'm not seeing it. What I am seeing is a bunch of whiplash cases looking for the ball every time it passes through Larry's hands. I hear a woosh sound on nearly every basket he makes. I'm not sure if he even understands what a rim is. I see challengers step up then step down. Now with this video I see a young athletic effective defender that is not afraid to get his ticket stamped for a chance at that ball. Straw man arguments is what I am hearing from the Bird ain't this or that gallery. What does Larry have to do, cook everyone some breakfast? Bird is a contender for greatest all around player there is no doubt. Thank you for digging out this gold that proves this fact.

Hustle is what is lacking in the game these days Bird in his prime would probably annulate the most of players today
