I find your video refreshing, especially in an age when we switch out devices yearly. I used to upgrade both my iPhone and Samsung devices every year, up until 2021. I had a great career, no dependents, and disposable income, so why not get what I wanted. In 2021 my health deteriorated horribly, this after living a few years with an autoimmune inflammatory disease. I lost everything!! I still had a financed iPhone 12 Pro Max during this period, but eventually it became blacklisted because I could no longer afford to pay monthly bill, as my remaining money was going towards medical and living costs. Lesson learned? I'll never finance a tech device again. I was gifted an iPhone SE 3rd Generation so I used that while going through disability process. Won Disability and slowly rebuilding a life. Through that entire period I realized having the newest camera, chip, etc.. didn't mean much, as I didn't really take pictures or make videos. My little SE keeps my Apple Watch Series 5 humming along, plus I'm still in the ecosystem with a 10th gen iPad, and recently purchased Macbook Air M1 I caught on sale. The phone is the one thing I don't use as much as I used to.
Thanks for the video. I appreciate your personal take on value of going with an older iPhone XS which can make a lot of sense. As someone that prefers smaller streamlined devices, I was curious if you considered the iPhone 13 mini. I wished Apple would have continued the mini line as I think there’s definitely people out there that prefer the compactness of the mini phones.
I considered the mini and I may get one in the future. I’m just trying to hang on to my current phone as long as possible. I wish they made an iPhone 14 mini because the video stabilization is a lot better. Hopefully they release another mini.

Thanks for sharing. It's unbelievable what you can do with the tech you currently have. Sometimes it makes you more creative.
