this has been very helpful. So far I've managed everything except my sky is wobbly. I'm not able to fix it by changing the positioning since when it goes too far it goes all over hte place, and when it comes near it still goes crazy..
Hi Carlos, two options, one would be to try re-tracking and choosing different points to base the camera track off of. If you're still getting wobble we'd suggest still pushing it back as far as possible in z space until the wobble stops. If wobble continues at a ridiculous amount of distance more than what we showed in the video then it has to do with the quality of the track as opposed to position
I know that this was ages ago but I got so frustrated with this. 1. Make sure "Show layer control" is checked in the View menu. 2. The tracking would not work if the size of your composition is different from the footage, so if you need to change the resolution or aspect ratio of the video you´re tracking, you can make a separate composition for the tracking and then import it to the final one. 3. Make sure you are on "Active Camera" in the render preview. 4. Check if the track point size is big enough. 5. Try to check the "Render track points" box in the fx options of the 3d camera tracker. This will also work if you already did the tracking process and camera, but you want to see the tracking points again. Hopefully, I could help someone. PD: Sorry for the wanky redaction, English is not my first language.
thanks for your tutorials hello iam biyal ria from nepal we don't know about new software so thast you have to learn us everything in videolike how to downlode the software and you have to learn us having make a full video thank you
some of you method completely correct but you need to add soild and camera and instead og dragging picture in timeline drag in picture in soild make id even better
Sir I watched your video 1st time, You are legend all of. Sir I salute you. Sir I want learn free VFX and CGI. can I learn any RUclips channel or any sites? Who tutorial provide free video. Sir please tell me, which software is good for VFX and CGI? Making video like titanic. In titanic movie which VFX and CGI software used.
Thanks for the video!! This looks like a nice tutorial if only my camera tracker would work :/ Unfortunately it won't show any tracking points in the sky for me to choose :// Only a bunch of points on the subject, but none in the sky or anywhere around it.. :/ It's probably the footage but it should be contrasty enough for the tracker to find any points in my opinion~ Does anyone know what else I could try?
what if i turn 180 in my shot and it looses the tracking points? edit: nvm it actually keeps tracking even when its off screen somehow? this app is awesome
With the blown out sky we find that can actually help make it easier if you do a luma key. If it's close to skin tones we're not too sure unfortunatley, haha, we've never run across that before. Are the skin tones blown out too or is this a sunset situation where everything is warmer?
Motion Array Tutorials everything is warmer, the spill on the edges of my subject go with it when I use colour range and try sliders to get more accurate targeting, but seems impossible.
You change the skin tones to black and white. that way you will get a nice striped pattern in the sky like a tiger. Who doesn't like a tiger in the sky?
I don't know if I would get a reply, I am familiar with this technique and it did work in few shots quite well. However,in some shots tracker doesn't work at all. In one handheld shot there was bit of camera shake and I tried 3d tracker and it failed, then I tried Track Motion and it failed again . Everytime I try to parent the Null from trackers to Sky image ,it starts wiggling ,even when the null/solid from Track Motion stays still . I tried stabilization with warp and track+stabilize but it all went in vain. btw all my tracking points were really far away from subject. Do you have any solution for this or After Effects is not suitable for all kinds of sky replacements?
Hi tyRiOn! Oh no, so sorry to hear about the trouble. Sounds like After Effects just might not like your footage specifically. 2 Things I would try. The thing I might try first is actually using Mocha tracker to track instead of the 3D tracker and it should be free and available in Ae depending on your version. If you go up to your menu and look for Animation > Track in Boris FX Motion you might be able to get a more stable track. We don't have a tutorial on this process in Mocha but we do have one that goes over Mocha a bit for another effect, not sure if that will be as helpful. at about 11:55 here: ruclips.net/video/nrwf0wHts7c/видео.html The other option is that we just released a video on how to achieve this in DaVinci Resolve and it's a 100% free program. I know switching projects is frustrating and it might not be what would be best, but if Ae just seems to not be doing it, I might suggest picking up Resolve for free and trying it there. This is the video: ruclips.net/video/CYxSiJEF9Is/видео.html
Thanks a lot first of all for the detailed explanation and for the video too . I actually thought as Mocha is a planar tracker so it would be better to use a point tracker for sky replacements . For plane surface compositing I use Mocha or sometimes for cleaning . But I will try that out for sure. BTW I am actually a colorist but I use composites/cleaning sometimes for enhancements and I am an intermediate Resolve user. I saw that tutorial and I am a regular follower of your channel .It's just that I don't want to get into Fusion and if I have to move from Ae then I will go for Nuke . Thanks again, much appreciated !!
I can’t get past the point where you transform the position all the way down and then scale it back up. It’s still jumping all over the place. I know this tutorial is a couple years old, but anyone else run into this and able to troubleshoot? Or know of a better tutorial for this issue?
Yes.. just go to freeloaders .com and everything there is free. You should see my new 458 Ferrari I got and they even sent the car to me. Its good for miserable bastards like you that want everything for nothing.

Probably a late reply, but try turning on Render Track Points in the inspector on the left side of the screen. Should fix your problem :)
Nice one

@@SonnyHendrixx We're sorry to hear Rooks, that sounds like a situation where unfortunately manual rotoscoping might give you a faster result sadly

yall wont answer a question in the comments but you'll say thanks to anyone who idolizes you wth
i cant hold shift and drag, it wont let me
what are the gismos for?

how did you make your motion array logo?
We used the "write-on" effect on our logo 😄
i can't trim it
Sorry to hear. Can you tell us specifically what you had trouble trimming? Is there a timecode in the video that you're referring to?
