How do you refill the bottles on a soda stream? The newer types have a valve that prevents refilling. You could feed CO2 very very slowly, but I've found this to be very cumbersome and often only fill up 1/3 of the way. The best would be to either use a hose that attaches to your machine directly, buy an after market bottle that doesn't refuse to be refilled, or you could alternatively modify the bottle yourself.

Nice clear instructions. I have the 5 pound tank and I have to turn the 5 lb. Tank upside down to get the maximum refill.

Does this hose work with the newer Sodastream bottles (with the automatically closing pin)? If not, where did you get the sodestream bottles that could be filled?
I have tried to fill bottles with the automatically closing pin but have no had success with a different adaptor.

over the past decade bought soda stream twice, first when they came out and and gave it another try couple of years ago. They never taste like the real thing regardless of what they claim, to get real carbonated water, u have to carbonate while the tank is extremeley cold and same as the water. very hard to accomplish that, plus the syrup they sell tastes disgusting, tried multiple flavors.
Try any flavored jam or honey and pre-chill your water in the fridge before carbonating. Keep a bottle of cold water already filled in the soda stream bottle by default.

Pretty cool, but keep in mind, that carbonated water is caustic, and not good for your system on a regular basis.
Good point. Carbonated water is acidic.
