I calculated the time that was wasted and I even took little shortcuts with that in mind it still took him 24 sec in my opinion volt is better in long races because of his speed multiplier for short distance I will always choose gauss
His speed Is jus linear, volts speed firstly grows exponentially and then caps, and since both His speed abilities aré affected by both normal speed AND ability strength it helps him for a better build while Gauss rellies More un base speed thank anything with some ability strength for His second speed ability like molt ir infected mobility

Maybe further testing till you get the perfect run for both? Also, how about editing the footage and putting them side-by-side in the video? That way you don't even have to time them, and just watch them race in real-time. Also... You can prolly make both of them faster too. One of the things I recommend for Volt is that if you have a mod on that's adding only like 15% power str. Try swapping that with something like Rush instead.

I'm fairly sure if you put all three +slide -friction mods on volt and tap ctrl every few seconds volt will go significantly faster
The wall hitting is necessary because that's what happens %99.999999999999 of gauss gameplay. No control over movement.
