Get rid of the elimination round. Complete waste of time just to lose 4 surfers. 3rd place should automatically go from opening round. Then no reason to do mid year cut.

. I still think it would be a good idea to have a Brazilian wave pool tour to allow the Brazilians to excel where they do, in the smaller stuff for tricks, and big spots like this for those like JJF who can't be matched by small wave guys. I felt the vibration in this final unlike the Kelly pool and final five mess.

feel like that 9.10 of jack is overscored. two maneuvers and a 9? i get it, the wave size? it was huge but maybe worthy of an 8.5 and that straight air too feels like it is overscored too. sad to see the best performer and surfer of the contest going down. that 8.77 of his was way better in my eyes even the commentator felt it. great final nonetheless and nothing against jack.

I already know the winner because I visited the WSL webpage to find out how to watch the entire finals day, and the winner was prominently displayed on the front page.
As a long-time fan of professional surfing since the ASP days, it’s disheartening to witness the decline in the World Surf League. The lack of consideration for surfers and fans and the continuous deterioration of the experience have left many feeling disillusioned.
Seth’s sentiment about not enduring the challenges of the challenger series again if he did not make the cut resonates with my own feelings. Sometimes, we reach a breaking point where the passion we once had becomes overshadowed by disappointment.
It’s okay to step away when something no longer brings joy or fulfillment. Perhaps it’s time to explore other avenues within the surfing community or find solace in memories of the ASP era. To the surfers who have had to endure so much disappointment within the WSL: remember, our well-being matters, and sometimes saying “I am done” is an act of self-care.
Congrats to Jack! 🤙🤙Sorry you could not compete at the box.
Perhaps I’ll watch one more CT event stop at Cloudbreak if they grant the GOAT (Kelly Slater) the wildcard. However, once Kelly Slater leaves the WSL, I’ll follow suit.

JJ's wave wasn't a bigger set wave neither which is always a factor. Jack won the heat either way, JJ couldn't find the second score.

8.77 for JJF is a bit much for 1 good carve and a run-of-the-mill, end of the wave air reverse.

Judges burned jjf so hard. He gets graded on a curve cuz he so freakin gnarly. Two turn combo and huge air on a crazy end section is almost a point lower than a turn combo. Wtf!?!?! Pretty standard for WSL judges though. Always picking faves and burning surfers.

Seriously? Those airs are from the 90s for the rest of the surf world. I never can figure out why you all think these are so progressive, but figure it just is to you all as you are late comers.

It could have gone higher imo. That first turn was super critical! He basically cut all the way back inside the barrel, i think you are underestimating how insanely difficult that was - and then to follow it up with a full send finish. Easily a nine.

@@bcooper7618that turn was f$&@ing crazy. they wall of water coming down was so heavy. to be able to control that is insane. i don’t think a lot of people understand how heavy and crazy that was. well deserved points, we haven’t seen a ton of surfing like that this year.
