- This Onkyo is the final amp in the job lot I purchased 2 months ago and as it stands the score is currently a tie 2-2 , 2 amps fixed, 2 amps failed so this is the decider but it doesn't go to plan but I will not quit?
let's see if we can fix it

New Caps have been ordered im not giving up on this one, I WILL WIN.........hopefully
Perhaps you should have replaced the mica insulator to stop the transistor shorting on the heat sink?
That's a wire cutter(dull blades) mark on that transistor leg if it's anything because it looks like it was crushed until the last bit snapped. Also you can see flux on those capacitor solder joints. Someone was in there before you opened it up.
Yeah it does look like that doesn't it, just perplexed what has caused the damage to the board in front of the transistor
@@FixitAde Someone probably couldn't get their crappy wire cutters in there to do the job without hitting the board, most likely.
dim bulb tester would have saved that part
That was entertaining! Thanks for sharing the extra fun part:)
Thanks mate 👍
You put the capacitor for negative rail in the wrong position. Please check the previous position from the old capacitor. It's right in you movie at 4:55 and compare it with the final 21:40.
21:57 oh nooooooo 😭Its also my greatest fear when i do work on amplifiers
My caps in my SA7800 unit 4x 8000uf ones 50v and they measure about 7000-7100uf and 0.01 something ESR, so theyre ok, but my voltage side power supply for preamplifier and etc, those capacitors were cooked pretty much. The unit is 45year old.
On-KEY-Oh, it means 'the sound' in Japanese. I sold it in the late 80s and it's usually good quality stuff.
one other model powers my two ten inch 4 ohm subs and 2 4 inch mids and 2 tweeters, somewhere in the realm of 150-400 watts
on uh nice sziable 100 ade micro ade farad lol hehe great videk keep up the great work great channel
Cheers mate 👍
Yes, that's what's keeps electronics running. The white smoke. And once it evaporates they stop working.
These receivers are insane. Powers 2 ten inch 4 ohm subs................. somewhere in the realm of 150-300 or 4oo watts
Do your best on this amp, mate. It is really good sounding amp with high sensitivity speakers. They won 5 star on Whathifi with good reason. Don't dismiss it as junk for it is not.
Nah I won't give up on this one it's my mission now lol, I've ordered new caps and will go from there
