I too had to switch to shorter cranks after knee replacement surgery limited my knee bending. Because I’m also on the shorter side (165cm) I have found my new 145mm cranks to let me spin faster more comfortably. I got my from Appleman in Minnesota that Alex mentioned on the Tech Show last year. They offer cranks from 135 to 170mm. Perhaps you could do a deep dive video on the benefits of shorter cranks. New bikes only seem to offer 170mm+ cranks.
I’m 5’-8” and run 165mm on all my bikes after 2 hip flexor surgeries on each hip. Helps me keep my hip angle much more open. It is very annoying how hard it is to find shorter cranks.

I actually hate that. It’s so elitist, judging people’s bikes on YOUR standards. Who cares what bottles people have on their bikes or what gear they’re in? Not every one rides their bike to create instagram content, some just wanna have fun riding and then share the fun by snapping a pic. Being judged in that actually puts me off, because now I’m scared someone judges me the same way next time I’m going for a ride.
While I think it's fair to rate bikes that are submitted to you, applying your criteria (which you have to admit is arbitrary and changes) to outsiders, especially people with less influence than GCN, really isn't fair. I'd especially call out that you were forgiving of gubbins on the bike of one adventure cyclist, but not another?
I love the black and white. Ridley submission for the bike vault. As someone who struggles with colour selection, I've owned three Ridleys, all either white or black, and I keep swearing that for my next one I'll just ask them to pick a colour and surprise me. Now I'm having second thoughts. If monochrome works for tuxedos and dinner jackets, perhaps it's the classy choice for a bike as well.

If you are going to pillory Instagram influencer’s bicycles, you really should select people who are actually Instagram influencers. She is a RUclipsr who promotes cycling for the sheer joy of it. It’s one thing to critique bicycles of viewers who have submitted their photos specifically for that purpose. It’s quite another to yank random photos off the Internet and critique them. Did you guys think about the negative effect this could have on the audiences of your victims? This comes across at best as cheeky and at worst as mean-spirited.
Another example of GCN thinking they are Top Gear. They ride bikes which are given to them by Orbea Canyon etc. have a look in the mirror GCN. Pathetic video.
Bells: I used to have a bell. But the bell can't get through the joggers/walkers earbuds. Even if they hear it, its just part of the music. So now I've ditched the bell, and I use a strong voice.
Can we talk about why bike companies are STILL putting 44cm bars on large and XL models. I'm 6ft 3 and quite broad and even I will max out at a 42cm bar. It's crazy as most people are now buying new bars and having to pay the mechanic's fees to reroute cables etc

Tyres are atom-bomb-proof. I am heavy rider and never punctured since 2019 and I pass also gravel sections. They would last about 8k before canvas will show up.
You gotta understand Dangerholm's philosophy before judging his bikes. They are rarely made to be the most functional, but either super light or super crazy. The Scott Foil was his first road bike build and although it might look like it's built around aerodynamics, all the stuff crazy aero stuff like the wheels are a bit of a joke. If you can get around that fact, his builds are amazing. Anyway, I must say I'm a bit disappointed you didn't show Dylan Johnson's drop bar Factor Lando, I would really love to see your reaction on that one. And hell yes, bring John Cannings back!
I am very disappointed that we haven't looked at the many whacky inventions and additions of OutsideBrendan. All absolutely hilarious and, as a keen cyclist, I am sent his shorts by non-cycling friends all the time, many 3d printed and plugging into the holes of his SPD crocs. Might not be very road oriented, but so worthy of an honorary mention.
I like the idea of the bike ratings .. but its a bit unfair that you're applying your weird bike vault rules about jaunty angles, which gear its in and pedal angles, to pictures of bikes which were never entered to the bike vault in the first place.

Guys from GCN, you started a boring discussion of pictures on the Internet. It would be much more interesting if you took a real bike from a champion or a museum, rode it and made an assessment. For example, Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson (I hope you know who he is) has a very original titanium bicycle. You can ask him for filming for a couple of hours.
