John, I remember you and Bob remarking how Erika was a trooper because she was obviously not feeling well this night but went ahead with the performance. It is very obvious from this video that she was suffering from the flu, a bad cold or just exhaustion. The band had just returned from a grueling European tour. Even when not at her best she is still better than 99.9% of any of vocalist I can think of.

Tuba Skinny is living music history and they do what they do oh so well. I wonder if they are aware of how much joy they bring with their wonderful music. Each member is so talented and as an ensemble they are incredible.

Top Klarinette!
Shaye Cohen, granddaughter of famous sax player Al Cohn, appears to be a very interesting person. She's a fabulous trumpter. Looking at her play she just seems like a very natural, easy going, down to earth person.

For the benefit of viewers who have not yet read the comments below, this video caught Tuba Skinny at an unfortunate moment. The band had just finished an exhausting European tour. Several band members--especially Erika and Greg--were too sick to perform, but Erika gave it her best shot just to honor all the people who had come out to see the band and to support the sponsoring charity. Judge them charitably for trying to play when they were so obviously sick.

Dit is Oude Stijl Jazz< zoals ik het graag hoor. Doet me denken aan de oorspronkelijke stijldoelstelling van OSJF Breda in de begintijd: Anno 1970-1975. Daarom waren zij het hoogtepunt in 2018.
Ze waren zeker het hoogtepunt in Breda. Ik was ook zeer vereerd om ze live te mogen zien en horen. Het was echt top.

Great music, terrible camera work.
I dunno ... big crowd, lots of dancers, a six-year-old daughter reaching out ... I think it captures the great music and the joyous crowd pretty well. And for the price we pay ...........

I like the band really, but this tune sounds for me "uninspired". The vocal from Erika isn't her best. Sorry when I made a more cirticial posting, but it's my opinion for THIS tune in THIS concert.
True enough that Erika was really sick, Greg Sherman too .. you can hear it in their voices. And Shaye Cohn seemed 'wan', but maybe that's me. But you could palpably see them perk up when they saw the big crowd and heard the huge enthusiasm for them (Robin says it was their largest crowd all Summer - France & the Eastern Tour). Hearing them on videos a couple days latter in NYC they do seem 'brighter', for lack of a better word. But in that room no one was using the word "uninspired", just the opposite ... listen to and watch the crowd here and on the other videos. Mid-tour, near the end of a long Summer away from home, they were all "troopers" in the finest sense of the word. ---- I like 'em too
@@87sailorgirl Why TS allowed this video for the public? I know tha band from the videos very well, so I know of the quality from all. Maybe you don't like cristism to the band, this is your problem. Don' t forget: I like the band very much, like the songs and I'm a musician too. Nobody can play all day perfect. This is not the problem. But HERE the band wasn't at his best - no less, no more.
@@oliverz.3555 None of the videos are "allowed" by Tuba Skinny; they are all from private fans, never monetized. This scene is the furthest different from commercial music as you can find; there is no "allowing" by the band or a manager or a record company. Neither videographer is professional or using high tech equipment ... both guys used Iphones and did it out of admiration for Tuba Skinny and to share with and encourage the online community around them. I don't even know how often the band sees videos of themselves. I have already conceded that a different assessment is possible,; don't mind yours or others. I assure you Tuba Skinny has a keen sense of their work, more informed and self-aware than we fans. I just wondered if the opinion of hundreds of people who were there, live, might we worth taking into account ......

Atrocious camera work. They certainly need a better video person.
Chris Cardy. Expect you could have done SO much better. It's not being done by a professional you know. It's free and for our pleasure. Make the most of it and be grateful like everybody else.
Unless you are the proprietor you make do with where you place your camera, you don' t get to hog the best spots, l think it was a decent and honest effort at video recording...thx for the video😎
