  • I finally got around to making this update video.
    my 1995 Ford Ranger xlt 2.3 is back and finally drivable again!
    I got the axle swap completed.
    upgraded the brakes.
    upgraded the wheels and tires.
    I had all new brake lines ran on the entire truck. the good copper lines and all new rubber lines. we had to add the proportioning valve for disc brakes in the rear as the original rear end came with drum brakes. I also had a line lock added. I just need to wire it up yet.
    found out while the truck was in the shop that the exhaust was completely broken behind the cab and I wanted to cut the muffler out anyway so my buddy cut it off and ran new pipe.
    the brakes were also upgraded to drilled and slotted rotors front and back. the front rotors are off a 2004 explorer sport trac and the rear end and rotors are for a 97 explorer. I dropped the front 3 inches with the dream beams and then installed the 8.8 from the explorer on top of the leaf springs. right now I have no ebrake. the explorer e brake set up does not work with the extreme wide wheels I have on the ranger.
    The wheels are 18x9 front 18x10 rear. I've got a 5.3 short block getting built right now for it and it will be hooked to a AR5 (5 speed) transmission. itll probably take me another year before I can start getting to the v8 swap as I'm trying to save for vacation with the family. thank you for watching!

  • @inmypans
    @inmypans Год назад +1

    Damn, that's a really nice rig planning on doing the same thing. Did you use the same coil springs or get lowered ones after the l-beams were in? Also in the rear did you have any lowering kit or just slap on the stock leaf springs on top of the 8.8 axel. Did the driveshaft need to be shortened at all with the swap too? Thanks man cheers!

    • @319speed
      @319speed  Год назад +3

      I used the stock springs but if you want more drop use lowering springs. As for the rear you could use a lowering kit. All I did was put the leaf springs under the 8.8 which gave it a big drop. The drive shaft will not need to be shortened because the 8.8 lines up where the stock rear end did but keep in mind if you do what I did (use a 97 explorer 8.8) you will need to use wedges to angle the rear end to a better angle for the driveshaft so it doesn't bind. If you find some of my newer videos on my ranger it's no longer a 4 cylinder. I have a turbo V8 in it now. Good luck with your build! • @319speed
      @319speed  3 года назад +2

      I couldn't tell you on the braking. I paid my buddy to do it. I bought the bigger rotors for the front and he built the adapter I needed to run them. He ran all new copper line and rear disc proportioning valve with a line lock for the front and I bought all new rubber lines. Because of the 8.8 swap I lost my ebrake. He also had to shim the rear end to fix the pinion angle. As for exhaust. No exhaust. It's got all stock up front and under the cab it was cut and just straight piped back. The factory exhaust was broken at the back of the cab so while he had it he cut it and removed it and just straight piped it. Nothing special. The 4cyl is about to be ripped out and a V8 stuffed in it.

    Hey, I’ve got a 94 Ford ranger. It came with an automatic trans and I’ve planned on ditching the motor trans since I got it. The body has some rust that I’m going to fix so I figured why not pull the body off the frame so it’s easier to fix the rust, pull the motor and trans out and then stiffen up the chassis. I also wanted to lower it and I just made the discovery that it has I beams front suspension. How can I make the truck utterly low? Is there a kit I can get or should I ditch the truck as a hole and find another platform to start with

    • @319speed
      @319speed  3 года назад

      I guess it all depends on what you plan to do with it. Lower then what I got I'd say you would want to go with air bags. I'm happy where mine is. I may go air bags one day idk but for now I'm happy with it. I'm doing a built 5.3 with a 5 speed swap. Well I was goin to attempt it myself but I just don't have the time with work and fam so I'm going to pay a guy to do it for me. I'm not worried about strengthening the frame just yet. My 5.3 will only be NA for a while. It's ready for boost and should be making a good 400+ at the crank but I'm only trying to make 500hp to the wheels once I'm ready for boost. If your truck is a good platform I'd say go with it. You don't see many rangers these years anymore. I love it. It'll be amazing to drive with a V8.

      @@alangalvan301 yeah my buddy did it for me. Exhaust was broken right at the back of the cab so he cut the muffler off and just ran pipe out the side. It won't be on much longer. I've already started the process to take the engine out and I'll be cutting the Exhaust out soon. Hoping to get my V8 in it this year yet before winter.

      There are some mustang seats. 99-04 is what the guy told me. They came with 4 point harnesses to but I'd have to fab something for them to work. I was able to take the seat off the mustang bracket and the ranger seat off the ranger bracket and the mustang seat holes lined up with the ranger bracket so I bolted them on the ranger brackets.
