Also one thing that I really like is that this drama tells us it's okay to live a "normal" life. You don't have to be super rich, famous, or anything but as long as you're happy and content, that's all you need. ☺
Accepting all your conditions, I want to be happy. But rampant corruption, farcical justice, broken system and dictatorship in the veil of democracy- all these things are making me depressed and a disgusting hateful feelings towards politicians. And though I want to be happy, I can't, thinking my country’s potential is getting ruined because of these incompetent reckless and greedy looters. Now, tell me how can I be happy? Leaving the country ain't an option.
This is something I heard in another k-drama - Just because everyone does something and that thing seems normal doesn't means it is easy to do. Just because you see so many moms in the world doesn't mean it is easy to be a mom. I believe actually living a normal life is not less than an achivement. It's really tough to be normal .😅
in this whole series, the most loveable character for me was Chang Hee. the way he delivered his lines was impeccable. To me, it seemed as if he was very mature from the beginning but he just hadn't reached his full potential. some of his quotes have stuck with me, like "a soul knows where to go before the body does." and "the words being at at the tip of my tongue but not saying them makes me feel confident that i have gained full control over myself, i have matured completely."
And there's another one, when he says" your heart beats fast at something when you don't have and want it. if you have one, your heart feel peaceful" something like that, it's also quite a fascinating line __ and yeah completely agree that he delivered some of the finest lines___ and you described his character so well__ ❤
Wow, the way it feels like I had written this. I agree 100%. My favorite character was also Chang Hee and my favorite quote by him was; "I realized I was just a tiny one-won coin and there was no need to make such a fuss through life" and I wholeheartedly resonate with it.
Drama and romance aren't always about kissing, hugging, or bed scenes. I really felt the true feelings of love. Love between people, even a stranger has so much bond with this family. This movie is about how we can liberate our mind and act to be fully alive.
The drama , "My Mister," is one of the most heartfelt and deep dramas that I hold close to my heart. And then I watched "My Liberation Notes" and was reminded of "My Mister,"...the way I felt watching the drama...the depths of the characters, the layers of storyline, the tears, the laugher...the realness of the feelings and emotions.. And then I learned that "My Liberation Notes" was also written by Park Have Young and it all made sense to me. Park Hae Young is such an amazing, amazing writer and storyteller. Both of these dramas leave me thinking about life, about relationships, about family...these dramas are on a whole different level. And we've been blessed with amazing actors and actresses that can carry out the story and deliver. Kudos to all involved. "My Liberation Notes" has a special place in my heart next to "My Mister."
You just saved me a minute I was thinking exactly the same as you. My Mister is my top of the list since I watch it and watching this drama I kept thinking how similar it's to My mister. And I later found out it's the same screen writer. This is my type of drama it's brutally complex feelings inducing yet at the same time I enjoyed every second of it.
I was just thinking of watching My Mister after finishing this because I assumed it would have a similar vibe! I’m going to start it now! Is there any other recommendations that are similar or that you really like? I want to find more good dramas that aren’t just romcoms (which I love) but are also good stories about people and love and overcoming etc…
@@butterflybe3 There’s so many good dramas that it’s hard to name just a few. Some that are on top of my list that hit differently for me: “Fated to Love You.” I laughed so much and cried so, so hard. It hit me hard. There is a wink from the screenwriter when in the voice of one of the characters she says "I've been told that a good subject to write about is real life with sad endings, but why would I write that? What a bore". All my admiration for this drama.

8:31 Mi- jeong reminds me of my wife from 30 years ago.A disciplined employee and family member, who had no interest in friends activities and who commuted to Chicago from Indiana. We were both 28 when we first started dating. She worked in a big city and I worked in a rural town. I've "worshiped"her ever since. We went to the same high school so I didn't see her for 10 years. When I saw them reunite at the bridge in the city, the acting was so good it reminded me how i felt when I first saw her for the first time since high school . My wife's mom passed early also when we were 29. 8:318:31
As it is stated in the title, all the characters in the drama have found their liberation. One most important thing that I learn is when Mi Jeong's mom was died. She successfully liberated from hustle and bustle, juggling house hold chores that made her exhausted. She said that she wanted to go to the church again on Sundays. She was so busy that she could do it for years because she had to devote her life for her husband. She also said she wanted to have vacation. But then she takes he "vacation" herself for good. For me, it's a lesson, be careful for what you wish for. The universe will grant it in its own way.
This drama brought me back one of the dearest people of my life - if not the only - who doesn't live anymore. Seeing this truthful, plausible ending, especially for Gu, made it even more peaceful and reconciliating. Special thanks to Seok-Koo Son, wherever you are!
Korean drama mostly potray crazy rich individual with no emotion try to find love and all. This one and My Mister is different, there is love already and they live a normal modest life with all it's trouble, which is more realistic and relatable. I found myself more drawn to this kind of story.
Something in the rain was good until they brought up the classic control freak parent element that so many kdrama have used for years and ruined the show.
When a comment in another upload told me that MLN was similar to My Mister and written by the same scriptwriters, I was in……. It did not disappoint. What a cast of characters, all trying to find their own form of liberation. Life is never “normal” because normal is whoever you are. This series tells you that, loved the whole 16 episodes each one took you on a journey. All the cast played their characters brilliantly. Thoroughly recommend, but don’t expect cute and romantic. It’s deep, and it makes you think, which makes for a pleasant change. We each have to live our own lives, not those of others. Sometimes we stumble and find our way by accident, but it’s all a learning curve along the road of life. 10/10 from me. An honest dose of reality, beautifully told.
And I'm not surprised the brother became a funeral director!! How can I miss out he's a guy with so much empathy! Perfect for this career. It's meant to be. The best part of this show for me.
Lee min ki is one of my favorite Korean actor he is funny snd always have a pocker face. He us a great actor and also he is good looking actor he always had a on the top chemistry with his leading actress .love him
My favourite character was yeom chang hee. He went through the most among the three siblings and became the most mature. I loved him from the beginning because his character is relatable to me.
Though it seems like an open ending, it was a happy ending for all the characters. Thank you for your explanation. I really love this drama so much bcoz it teaches me about how to move forward and be happy.
I loved MLN! It was so refreshing unlike most kdramas. The actors were superb n the plot was beautifully crafted; no uneasy flashbacks or filter scenes. The subject will appeal to audiences with a deeper meaning in their lives. Kudos to the scripture in being bold and true to get story. 👍👏
MLN was so good that it reminded me of Before Sunrise with rich conversation and amazing chemistry. I felt so many different kind of emotions watching it from the start to the ending... all of it were very ironically liberating ha yeah I think that's the whole point. My favorite scene is basically the final snapshot ending because I felt like I was part of their adventure together by just rooting for them you know? It was so nice to feel good after many challenging episodes. I know it was not very easy for some people to digest through, but I promise that the result is justified in the end. The cast members were very excellent especially Ji-won and her partner in crime Suk-ku. Captain Kirk in Star Trek once told Spock that everybody's human and I think that is so true!
I just finished watching it yesterday 3 days in a row. Thanks for the explanation and what a wonderful drama, I'm glad I waited because I could watched it dubbed in Spanish until episode 13 then I watched it with English subtitles (because the Spanish ones are always funky) of course I always like hearing the original voices but this time I liberated myself of reading and could enjoy the takes. I devotedly fell for Mr Gu and his small, loving and flirtatious eyes. I got the impression that he was really drunk in some scenes. 😊
You need more understanding to realize the meaning of the story..at first i find it boring then on episode 5 I started to see the correlation of each episode. The story is deep because you have to know the struggles of each characters.. This is one of my favorite drama, not just pleasing to the eyes but more on pleasing with the heart and character

yes. theres a reason its called my liberation notes, not my liberation diary. its not a reflection of completed days. its a note to hold on to for your next step.
I want to remind myself again and again that it is okay to live a normal life, that normal is a blessing. I know it might get difficult in the future, so then i will remind myself to take it slow, 'trudging along step by step' and keep going. Sometimes, even normal will seem so hard that i might just want to mess it up. When this happens, i will slow down and catch my breath, look at the world and observe the people other than me, and try not to make it hard for myself. I hope i will remember all this in the coming 10 years.
I hope their will be more, I really believe that Korean drama scripts and acting are really very good much better than our American programs and acting keep up good work, as an American really good shows
I really like the theme of mundane aura and every life and looks so perfectly normal,,,esp the eating scenes and commuting. Somehow they made it not boring even tho nothing explosive happens, the daily build up is really good, I lived far away from work once too so it's so relatable. It's my go to kdram when I want to feel at ease ot slow doen or having a stressful day...
Superb scripts and acting all around, with none of the cartoonishly over-the-top "comic relief" characters that detract from many K series. The uniformly strong performances suggest not only highly skilled actors, but a great director as well. For me, even among all the other brilliant performances, Lee El's was the standout, conveying her yearning, self-doubt, frustration, pain...with her elastic, expressive face without crossing the line into farce. I've almost finished watching the entire MLN series for the second time. So far, it's the best Korean series I've seen. Other favorites include "It's Okay...," "Crash Landing...," "Extraordinary Attorney Woo," "Anna," "Celebrity," "The Glory," and "Queen of Tears." (Something In The Rain" would be on the list had "Stand By Your Man" played in virtually every episode not killed it.)
This is a great drama. Thanks for sharing your insightful review. The greatest strength for this story is that everyone can find their own liberation in themselves as long when they found a reason to.
I identified and really liked the psychological format of this drama! I will watch it several times. Wonderful actors!!! And I liked this explanatory video. Thankful.
Thank you sooo muccchh for the explanation! This drama is one of my favorites already and probably my favesthis year along with OBS I actually got confused on the ending but your explanation makes sense so thank you!
I love this so much.. it hit so hard... the reality of life..i wanted to be liberated too from all the adulting... i wanted to go back to my childhood where i don't need to competer with society to survive life. I want to live life with a purpose even it was just a simple one. 😔😔😔
well i did thought that each character overall helps each other and that seems to the conclusion, but they could have given better closure to all characters storywise as this felt unfinished, very good show and in-depth emotional feelings most can relate to, good explanation
Its just a dilemma, viewers who cannot get the ending just want a 2nd second of this masterpiece drama.. The ending is clear.. Minjong and Gu finally reunited again and helping each other to liberated themselves.. They will definitely married later because minjong parents allowed them to get married..
Can any one explain to me what does mr gu mean by the coin in episode 5 when the brother ask him why you always look at the mountain , what does he mean ?
Coin represent people.. oneself, 7.7 billion human population Mountain means EARTH, how the 7.7 billion population(coin) live and interact on earth(mountain)
'Me too' is a universal expression in Korea as well in a casual way. So, it might be the expression of Gu's mind that meant he is now stepping out of his desperate life.
i believe the cash was his own and he was going to pay hyeon's debt to the loansharks so hyeon wouldn't be killed by them. in the last episode, gu called hyeon and sent a voicemail to him saying that he wants hyeon to be alive. ^^ cmiiw
Gu, slaying his inner demons by an act of kindness. Just like how Gu fulfilled Sam-sik's wish to go home, thus putting Gu in a better mood. It's one of the recurring things in this drama: not to hate the people who've done you wrong.

I knew at the end they would live happily.. But I wanted someone to say it.....
It's one of those remarkable Korean series.
It's the best ending we could ever get 🥰🥰🥰🥰
This drama was amazing ❣️☺️I loved it
I really like the theme of mundane aura and every life and looks so perfectly normal,,,esp the eating scenes and commuting. Somehow they made it not boring even tho nothing explosive happens, the daily build up is really good, I lived far away from work once too so it's so relatable. It's my go to kdram when I want to feel at ease ot slow doen or having a stressful day...
This is one of my favorite Kdrama☺️ this cried me a lot but it’s really worth watching.
Thanks for explaining. Hope another drama like this
kyaahh.. thank u for that.... i'll rewatch... it's coming together now... seems like i've been sad for nothing :)
Park Hae Young you are the best 👍💯
My fav drama and i will repeat on december again after my mister
I knew that they gonna a end up together and thanks for explaining the last episode that the'we together ❤️
Thanks for the ending explanation. I really enjoyed watching this drama.
I identified and really liked the psychological format of this drama! I will watch it several times.
Wonderful actors!!!

Thanks for this video. The drama now makes better sense for me.
I love this so much.. it hit so hard... the reality of life..i wanted to be liberated too from all the adulting... i wanted to go back to my childhood where i don't need to competer with society to survive life. I want to live life with a purpose even it was just a simple one. 😔😔😔
Love it to the Moon!
The best serise, Love Mr.Gu and Miyeong, form fan Thailand.
I loveee My liberation Notes

One of the best drama ❤
Great Series
Amazing! Love the series and this analysis as well! Tysm ❤️
This drama is really good, just because it has a good reflexion about life and happiness
well i did thought that each character overall helps each other and that seems to the conclusion, but they could have given better closure to all characters storywise as this felt unfinished, very good show and in-depth emotional feelings most can relate to, good explanation
Muchas gracias.
Indico demais!!!
Loved the drama
I love what you say!!
Thank you. ❤
I hope Gu will move on with his life,
Thank you!💗💗
Chan hee self saboted his relationships
Sooo beautiful❣❣❣
I dont understand the confusion about the ending, it was pretty clear for me… what ppl didn’t get?
Its just a dilemma, viewers who cannot get the ending just want a 2nd second of this masterpiece drama..
The ending is clear..
Minjong and Gu finally reunited again and helping each other to liberated themselves..
They will definitely married later because minjong parents allowed them to get married..
A boring one to start with. Thought about stopping it many times. I am glad I survived till the end. Was a good one to watch
Thankyou thankyou .. 🤗
Good video. What are other similar kdramas ?
Mi-jeong is a mitski song
Can any one explain to me what does mr gu mean by the coin in episode 5 when the brother ask him why you always look at the mountain , what does he mean ?
Coin represent people.. oneself,
7.7 billion human population
Mountain means EARTH,
how the 7.7 billion population(coin) live and interact on earth(mountain)
This drama make me sad!
Wow ! Now I understand
Just curious about last part that Mr. Gu said "Me too". Any particular reason why he said in English instead of Korean?
'Me too' is a universal expression in Korea as well in a casual way.
So, it might be the expression of Gu's mind that meant he is now stepping out of his desperate life.
@@MrLeunhee IC. Thank you very much for an explanation.
I’m shook.
part 2 😊
What about the cash from his apartment, that he put into a duffel bag? Was he skimming cash too? Where was he going with it?
i believe the cash was his own and he was going to pay hyeon's debt to the loansharks so hyeon wouldn't be killed by them. in the last episode, gu called hyeon and sent a voicemail to him saying that he wants hyeon to be alive. ^^ cmiiw
Gu, slaying his inner demons by an act of kindness. Just like how Gu fulfilled Sam-sik's wish to go home, thus putting Gu in a better mood. It's one of the recurring things in this drama: not to hate the people who've done you wrong.
After watching again, I’ve concluded that his wages were paid in cash.
2 temp please
I can't move on and why 🙂
Thank
