Paul, COMPLETELY agree with you here. They've changed quite a bit in the new HL3 wedge from previous years (more bounce options for starters)! Thanks for the Bettinardi support! -Danny
I have three of these B wedges. Love them but only two grinds. I hit them well but do thin them more than other wedges. Most sots are a dream though. I have hit the pin on chips and pitches so much more often since using these.
Completely agree. That's why they're VERY trusted across all professional tours! Feel is different for everyone, but glad you found that feel in the SM8's! Play well! -Danny
I use the SM7 in 46* and it is sweet. First Vokey wedge for me but Vokey can’t kick my Betties out of the bag in 50*, 56*, 60*. Too many good shots with them to replace.
After myself testing many of these wedges and others I ended up replacing my sm7s with the Ben hogan equalizer IIs. Great value, great feel, great performance. And have not looked back. Even better than the sm7s though I suspect the sm9s will be out soon. I also tested the pxg wedges but preferred the Ben hogans.
Love the feedback here! It's good to test the market, and see what changes from each manufacturer. Golf is an independent game, where Value, Feel, and Performance are always #1! Can't go wrong with a name like Ben Hogan in the bag! -Danny
I just got fitted for the RTX Zip Core yesterday. I was killing it, everything had beautiful Draw. My swing speed was 86-88 so it’s interesting to see yours was 81-3ish. I getting the 52° 56° 60°
Nick, Stay tuned for an upcoming video, where Thomas and I do a FULL comprehensive wedge video! Mizuno included, and ALL major wedge manufacturers. -Danny
Based on those results you need to get some vokeys, it’s all about consistent distance and descent angle with a wedge. Spin numbers there are much of a muchness.
Steve, thanks for the feedback here. I did always have Vokey's in the bag, prior to 2018 when I fell in love with the feel from Bettinardi. I couldn't agree more on the consistent distance and descent angle needed on wedges. That's how we score! I don't have a single complaint about Vokey's, but for me, Bettinardi just delivered the feel I was looking for! -Danny
They might be waiting for the season to slow down to allow them time to make the switch as they would prefer to not switch during their season. They are probably getting them dialed in and come Jan you will see them in more bags. - Thomas
Looks like Zipcore is the winner as it provided the most consistency. If this was a 4 iron test the variance is ok, but this is a scoring iron and GIR should be the main focus. Good stuff.
It was a great showcase of the forgiveness in that wedge. As soon as we opened the door to the "Blade Wedges", you'll see dispersion opened up! If you're looking for forgiveness to hit those GIR, the ZIPCORE was a show-stopper in 2021! -Danny
I moved to full-toe RTX Zipcores from Vokeys. I switched for the full-toe groves but stayed for the unbelievable accuracy and consistency. The feel is great too. Should definitely be at the top of the fitting list.
I have a 50 and 56 in the Bettinardi HLX 3.0. Best feeling wedges (by far) that I’ve ever played. I really want the Vokeys to feel like the Betts, but they just don’t.
Bettinardi In (less popular) Mizuno out (very popular). I will hit 'Don't like' If I was to pick one for you, I would pick Vokey based on carry distance dispersion. Distance control is what you want from a wedge.
I agree with you here. I played Vokey's for a long time. I just loved the feel a little more with Bettinardi, that's the reason for the switch. Stay tuned for an upcoming video where Thomas and I do a comprehensive wedge test with a full compliment from manufacturers (now that we have them all). -Danny
I knew I'd get some feedback from the Swing Guros on the channel! In some ways, yes, I've taken some pieces from Stack and Tilt. My hips don't rotate much, due to the strain it creates on my lower back. I've got major back issues, and this was my solve that kept me out playing a little more. It's gotten better. But definitely will be trying to engage the lower body more throughout the swing this off-season. -Danny
We will definitely be adding that to the list in the "Full Ultimate 2021 Wedge Test Video" with Thomas Campbell and I. Due to "Covid Shipping" times, we did not have the Mizuno T22 wedges yet, to have put them in this video. Stay tuned, that video will be coming up! -Danny
Kevin, that's not the case anymore, thankfully! Yes, custom wedges from Bettinardi can be more pricey...However, they're price point is at $189.99 while Taylormade Milled Grind 3 is $179.99....Not too far off from one another. -Danny
Pick up one used and you might only drop $130. If it doesn’t become your favorite wedge in your bag, then don’t buy the other two. I have three in my bag. If they had a 46*, I’d have four!
Thanks for the feedback here! Stay tuned to the channel, where Thomas and I do a comprehensive 2021 wedge test with a FULL compliment from manufacturers! -Danny
Hi guys I’m looking to get a Bettinardi wedge but may I ask what is the difference between DG S200 and DG S400 shaft? What would make me feel it better?
S200 is lighter it is a very common wedge flex shaft in many wedges. S400 is a heavier shaft that many tour pros drop down to with their wedges if they play X100 in their irons.
I'd guess that almost a quarter of players at my club use the costco wedges, me included. Please include their latest version when this comparison comes back around.
Brand is Kirkland. I think only sold in a set of 3, in Oz anyway and no lefties so I havent tried them. Im disappointed with my TM MG2s even after the face rusted. I prefer ping but a pain to get the right colour dot for a lefty...
Thanks for watching. We have only recently got the T22 wedges in our hands to test with and fit with. No doubt when more fittings occur in the busy season the T22 will be regularly fit as I too was very impressed - Thomas
some other marks are missing in the wedges, plus what use of a full swing test? it would have required a field test and in either dry or wet conditions. The turnover rate is not necessarily the most relevant data .... consistency and precision seems more appropriate to me.
Thanks for the feedback. These were wedges that performed well for me in the Fitting Bays in 2021. Stay tuned for the "Full Ultimate 2021 Wedge Test" to come soon! -Danny
Loving how you guys threw the Bettinardi in the mix, a lot of great club manufacturers out there.
I would love to see the Costco wedges added to this test as well. Maybe next year. Great vid 👍
I have the Bettinardi myself, its an amazing wedge, great feel and flight. Just has a great weight and balance

Great to see some love for Bettinardi wedges. I picked some up from 2nd Swing last year and love them.
They are sneaky good! Very soft feel and generate spin - Thomas
Greatest tests as always! It's a shame Bettinardi wedges don't come in LH dexterity. LH-players are not getting as much love.
SM8’s consistency is great. They’re in my bag, amazing feel. Sold my Ping Glide 3.0’s; never liked the feel and never grew to like them overall.
Completely agree. That's why they're VERY trusted across all professional tours! Feel is different for everyone, but glad you found that feel in the SM8's! Play well! -Danny

Not all of us get to play on pristine courses all the time, what’s the most forgiving in tough conditions like crab grass, bare spots etc.

@@2ndswing Danny it’s all about feel mate, I’ve just gone mizuno t22 and got rid of my SM8s first time in many years I haven’t used a vokey.
What shaft / weight was on the betti?
Great video; could you explain why you think 95% of Taylormade staff have kept the milled grind 2 in their bags?
Tia
