My Father and I are thankful to each and everyone of you! The Philippines has given my father a home, a loving wife, a son and a relaxing life in the tropics that most foreigners could only dream of. And because of that, my father is forever grateful. We might make a part 2 soon so stay tuned 🙌🏻 Cheers guys!
Filipinos are very welcoming people especially to foreigners , women specifically prefer white foreign nationals than the local men, that’s the truth. But when we go visit their country specifically in America and Europe they are not as nice, they are so unkind. They have a different attitude towards us. Sad but that’s the reality we have to face.
I found myself smiling while watching your video. I'm a Filipino and left Philippines same year as you moved in on 1994, I lived outside my country for 29 years now and this year I decided to go back to spend the rest of my life here. Mabuhay!
Glad you enjoyed my Father’s video 🥰❤️ Wow! That’s incredible! How was life like 29 years away from your hometown? Happy to hear you are back! Mabuhay! ❤️

Thank you for the interview with your dad! What an amazing life! In this world full of turmoil and discord between nations and peoples, it is individuals such as your father with their brave spirit of adventure that literally hold the world together. I mean this literally! I mean just imagine, 30 years ago, one beating heart of the french countryside flew to the phillipines, and now there are countless beating hearts with warm ties to France. The world is a brighter place, and I mean this seriously.
I just subscribed today. Maybe you can make vlog with your father maybe about French cuisine, or hand working with your father or maybe doing some gardening...or whatever....to include him sometimes in the vlog with his French accent makes it interesting esp. when they speak there is music in the air bec of their accent. Besides, it will make him biel young to be active in the vlog😮😊
I admire your Dad for his interest and love of thePhilippines, my country, although I’m now a Canadian citizen, I always find time to go visit home and had a good one each time I’m with some family members, am always proud to be a Filipino, thank you for sharing your Dads experience in life, it’s worth living for!!!
Thank you so much ❤️ We are glad that you enjoyed watching my Dad’s video. Happy to hear that you never lost track of your roots and still cherish your filipino side 🥰🙌🏻 Thank you for being proud Kabayan! We wish you a happy and successful life in Canada ❤️🙌🏻 Cheers!
Wow that is absolutely awesome! Your dad has been to many places, but chose to settle down in the Philippines, embraced our culture and was blessed by a good-looking son! He sounds pretty contented and happy after 30 years! Thank you so much for all the positive compliments. Wishing you and your family more happy years living in the islands. Halong!😊🕊🙏

@@VanandJoe welcome lods as long as you're good I& grounded I'll always love to watch your videos I hate hypocrite people who showed kindness and wellness in front of the camera but the attitude is different on what they're showing but I cam discern it.
Nice to see and hear from your Dad Joe, Wow 30 years in the Philippines. Yes your father is right Philippines is paradise. I'm 30 years in Canada and I don't like snow and long winter anymore. Dumaguete is my home too.
Thank you so much! 🙌🏻 I’m glad that you feel the same way about the Philippines. Hope to see you one of these days in Dumaguete 🤗 As for me, I love winter 😂 I guess that’s because I don’t experience it on a daily/yearly basis.
Very interesting! Your Dads story is fascinating to me. I will be retiring to the Philippines after 60 years in New York City. My moms family is originally from Southern France (Marseille). Would love to meet you and your Dad when I make my way to Cebu in 2024. My Best to your family.
Hi Leon! Wow! That’s incredible. Best of luck on your retirement 😁🙌🏻 we are not in Cebu anymore but in Dumaguete. A neighboring Island a few hours away from Cebu city ❤️ Hope to see you soon! Stay safe ! 🙌🏻
Hi Joe... i have to admire your father even its only in video seeing him first time. He has a resemblance on character with my late father who is a guerilla veteran in WW2. He speaks gently and intellegently with humility just like how i see my father in the old days.
Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words ❤️ Your late father was the man! He sounds like an amazing individual who had a very colorful life. May his beautiful soul rest in peace 🙌🏻❤️
I really enjoyed listening to your dad. I understand and I relate to everything he has to say. Your dad, more than any of these opinionated Western You tubers influenced my opinion to move to the Philippines to retire in a positive way.. He says more by his actions and how he lived his life than all the others going on about how smart they are about the Philippians. This is an invaluable interview and I'm glad I found it.
Thank you so much Michael! My dad will be so happy reading this 🙌🏻 I wish you all the best on your retirement and I hope you will love the Philippines as much as we do! ❤️

a joy to learn of fathers life...glad to see he is well and kicking...he seems to understand the Filipino mentality and how they react to others....as he said, it is us that must adapt to their culture, not them adopting to ours....Nice to meet you Charles.....Davila, Ilocos Norte, Philippines...
Merci John 🙌🏻 I remember visiting Ilocos Norte back in 2011. What a beautiful experience that was. We explored the area, saw the amazing windmills and road a Kalesa in Vigan while exploring the Spanish colonial town.
That was interesting, I'm from a completely different European country, and yet, living here in the Philippines I have EXACTLY the same sentiments as this Gentleman.....I find it's somewhat like my country 30 or 40 years ago.
Your Dad is your adorable. He is right when he say that if want to live in another country, we should be the one to adopt their culture, not the host country. God bless you, Sir.
I like your dad's story about his military career; I joined the military (USN)recruited in Subic Naval Base in 1973 and retired in 1993 same time your dad joined the French military. I was 20 when I joined; I stayed and worked worked another 25 years before retiring for good 5 years ago. I did plan to go back to Baguio city after military retirement so I had a house built in 1986 but decided to work on a second career until retired again. I knew a lot of Filipinos retired from the military and went home for good.
Thank you for your service! You have been living such a colorful life ❤️🙌🏻 Baguio is a beautiful place and you’ve built a house there. How amazing is that!
30 years of living in the Philippines and still love it there, while most Filipinos want to get out. If we could only see the Philippines in the eyes of these foreigners, I think many Filipinos who have migrated and have earned enough pension would want to go back home and reconnect with the motherland. Still, it needs a lot of courage and wisdom to leave a life of convenience and go back to a simple yet inconvenient life we were used to as a former Filipino. Your father saw those things that we Filipinos tend to ignore. I’m one of those looking at Philippines right now in your father’s point of view.
Thank you so much for this wonderful comment! 🙌🏻 you are right. Most Filipinos leave because there are better job opportunities in other countries. But I did stumble upon some locals who actually criticize The Philippines not knowing how lucky they are to be born in such a beautiful country. Every country in the world has their own fair share of problems. We just need to be grateful and see things in a positive perspective.
Hello, new subscriber from California👋🏼 I happen to come across your channel and enjoyed watching this really insightful interview. I appreciated hearing your father’s life experiences, reflections and wise advise. Living in this time, with so many people immigrating to other countries, it’s important to hear that you should adapt to the new country you’re in, to be respectful, to observe without judgement, to learn the culture, customs. Also, if you immigrate to another country I think it’s important that one learns the language and doesn’t try to change the culture but rather accept and assimilate. You seem to have great parents, I wish you shared a photo of your mom and dad from 30 years ago😉 God bless them and may they enjoy many more years together.
Thank you so much for subscribing ❤️🙌🏻 We are glad you enjoyed watching my Father’s video 🤗 You are absolutely right!!! ❤️ thank you for confirming what my father said. I am lucky to have amazing parents. There will be a part 2 soon and I will show you guys a picture of my mom and of them together. ( i’m not sure if my mom is up for an interview as she is camera shy ) God bless you too Jules! ❤️🙌🏻
I appreciate hearing this from someone that been there for 30 years and still loves it there. I love that he went to different countries first before coming to the Philippines
Respect to your dad for making the effort to do most of this in English. His English is great. But when hearing him speak French he all of a sudden united as a person. Makes me realise how hard it is for an expat living and trying to communicate in a non native language.
Absolutely. He didn’t speak a word of English when he first came here and even brought a dictionary around 😅 so learning English was really his main goal. I think that’s what makes the Philippines so inviting for ex-pats knowing Filipinos can speak English so well.
@@VanandJoe I am a Brit and I know how proud the French are (rightfully so) of their culture. That he found the Philippines a place to call home speaks volumes for the Philippines. Language and culture wise there would have been easier options for him.
that is very true. There’s a few tropical countries out there that speak French but he decided to live here and had to go through learning a new language ( English ). Much respect to my dad. I appreciate the kind words! 🙌🏻 Are you in Britain or did you move to a different country as well?
@@VanandJoe I live in the Netherlands just outside Amsterdam. But have always been fascinated with Asia, ever since being a little kid. There is a trend here with Northern Europeans looking to retire somewhere. I am not near that age yet. People used to pick Spain for example. Your father said something that is consistent with what I have seen on a lot of vlogs and heard via via. That the Philippines have an open culture. I have heard as well a lot of the accessibility comes from you also having a good sense of humour.
Oh wow! Hope you’re accomplishing your dreams in the Netherlands. Once you hit retirement, Asia is definitely a top choice. South East in particular. That is very true! The Philippines does have an open culture and as long as you respect and adapt, then you are most welcomed here. Locals will love you and take care of you 🙌🏻
Love this video. Hats off to your dad. He clearly put a lot of effort into speaking in English. I always have so much respect for people who put effort into speaking in a non-native tongue. Really glad I stumbled upon this video this morning.
First time to watch your video. I like what your father said. I admire his being humble and knows how to adapt to Filipino culture. God bless your family
En Francais est tres bon ! Love to hear the French, even the French accent ! Yes, a person must be flexible and adapt to the country you’re living in, tres simplement ! Anyway, nice vid, be nice if your mom showed too..bon soir 🙏🏻🌴
Merci Norris! 🙌🏻❤️ I’m glad you enjoyed listening to my dad. I will try to make a video with my mom soon although she is very camera shy 😅 I am also planning to make a part 2 with my father soon.
Hey man interesting video and an amazing insight for me , I’m 7 months away from making the move to live permanently in the PH (I’m not French I’m British but similar story to your dad) Salamat and Ingat always
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed watching my Father’s video ❤️🙌🏻 That is so exciting! Which Island did you choose? We wish you the best of luck with your new life here in The Philippines soon and we hope you’ll embrace the culture with an open heart❤️🙌🏻
I have been considering making the Philippines my retirement home. You mentioned that France has changed the past 30 to 40 years. I can tell you the same has happened in the United States. I'm ready to live in another country and I like the fact there are many English speaking Filipino's.
That’s a great choice to make Daniel. Indeed, most first world countries have evolved into a stressful environment. We are sure you’ll love it here. We recommend you visit some popular islands and then decide where to build a home as each island have their own beauty and charm 🙌🏻❤️
I have known some foreigners living for many years in the Cebu area. Mostly from U.S., veterans who have pension and are living large. Has a new truck and with servants. Superb.
What a wisdom..time is not important...most important is the contact..he is right as what people is practicing in the Philippines...no matter what is the cause or pressing issue of concern..what is impor🎉tant is you show up even to the last minute...that counts for most of us..but of course when help is needed or it is really top urgent or life threatening...we willl likely to appear as fast as the lightning...
Shoutout from a Leyte Pinoy in Scandinavia ❤ Love it 😍 thats what my wife and I planning to leave in the Philippines when we get hopefully old. God bless…
Even without introducing himself, I can guess he is French by his accent. 😊 J’adore ! Trente ans aux Philippines ? Ça fait plaisir d'entendre qu'un français a pu vivre ça aussi longtemps. You’re father is right with the watch. Everyone is in a rush here in France so les gens sont trop stressés. Bonjour from Paris! 😊 Now I’m more inclined to retire in my home country the Philippines.
He did his best with English 😅 thank you for your wonderful comment! I would agree. I saw life in Paris back when we visited in 2017 and it looked very hectic and everyone was in a rush 😅 but aside from that, Paris is very beautiful! Best of luck on your retirement and hope you live the best life both in Paris at the moment and here in the Philippines soon 🙌🏻❤️
Funny thing is that before I learned he's french, I somehow knew already because of the accent in his english, the "h" added or subtracted. I am glad that he found a home in our country. Long life to you, sir!
Now I understand why France people somehow relate to our culture and lifestyle. I like France people, they're not judgemental, they're somehow knows how to adapt our simple life eventhough they are far more advanced compared to our country. I say this because of the other vlog of Go with Flo. She accepted her Filipino boyfriend with open arms and understanding and she adjusted to her Filipino boyfriend lifestyle. Salute French people! 🤘🙏
I enjoyed watching the video , especially when your Dad started speaking french Dad . Although I do not speak language , I like the sound of it .The French language is a beautiful language . Do you have an experience to leave in France . My impression is that French people are lay back people .While I was in France , I watched them laughing and talking while strolling in the avenues . Dined in a side walk restaurant eating delicious foods and sipping wine . But my impression of a french people is not what I thought and your Dad said , that French people have a very hectic life .
Hi Manuel! Glad you enjoyed the video! Thank you for the compliments ❤️🙌🏻 I never tried living in France although my last visit there was just for a week before heading back to Germany. You’re right, French are laid back and they enjoy sipping wine and have a great time but I think my father was generalizing mainly on the big cities where the stress of keeping up with expenses has taken over. Although you do still see the old french way of living in smaller towns. When you came to France, which city did you visit?
@@VanandJoe Me and my wife rented a car and toured Europe way back year 2000 . Spent 2 days in Paris , visited famous places in the city and enjoyed eating . Baguette .
Oh wow! That’s amazing! Definitely in our bucket list and crossing my finger that will happen soon! I’m happy you enjoyed Paris. I actually have a crazy story that happened in Paris when we were there back in 2017 which I will share one of these days 😅

😂wow so funny #Filipinotime😅
Thank you Sir❤
Yes my husband is Swedish absolutely he's more particular in time even 1 minute late matters to him🎉
I have neighbor whom married French ....they sisters who found their love of their life in France and they are living in France until now.

Your father's story is so admirable and good to hear. Thank you for documenting it.
I appreciate the kind words ❤️ his life is truly inspiring and I thank you for listening 🙌🏻

Thank you so much po! ❤️🙌🏻
Everything was from the heart and I am glad to know that you enjoyed the video 🤗
Hope to see you one of these days in Dumaguete 🤗
As for me, I love winter 😂 I guess that’s because I don’t experience it on a daily/yearly basis.
A neighboring Island a few hours away from Cebu city ❤️
Hope to see you soon! Stay safe ! 🙌🏻
I love the thick accent, and how his dad was a wine farmer. its the best french sterotype.
Thanks brother! Ahaha! Exactly bro! 😂
Thanks for the positive comment I'm. Now your subscriber here in the Philippines keep safe always and your family.
Maraming salamat po for subscribing! 🙌🏻 God bless you and your family!
Hi Joe... i have to admire your father even its only in video seeing him first time. He has a resemblance on character with my late father who is a guerilla veteran in WW2. He speaks gently and intellegently with humility just like how i see my father in the old days.
Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words ❤️
Your late father was the man!
My dad will be so happy reading this 🙌🏻
I wish you all the best on your retirement and I hope you will love the Philippines as much as we do! ❤️

a joy to learn of fathers life...glad to see he is well and kicking...he seems to understand the Filipino mentality and how they react to others....as he said, it is us that must adapt to their culture, not them adopting to ours....Nice to meet you Charles.....Davila, Ilocos Norte, Philippines...
Merci John 🙌🏻
I remember visiting Ilocos Norte back in 2011. What a beautiful experience that was. We explored the area, saw the amazing windmills and road a Kalesa in Vigan while exploring the Spanish colonial town.
Thank you for adapting the culture ofthe filipinos and deciding to stay here in the Philippines

That was interesting, I'm from a completely different European country, and yet, living here in the Philippines I have EXACTLY the same sentiments as this Gentleman.....I find it's somewhat like my country 30 or 40 years ago.
I am glad to hear you resonate with my dad’s point of view, Brendan 🙌🏻
We hope you’re living a beautiful life here in the Philippines ❤️
Your Dad is your adorable. He is right when he say that if want to live in another country, we should be the one to adopt their culture, not the host country. God bless you, Sir.

Take care in Canada and God bless you!
Tres bien. Newly subscribed here from California. 🇵🇭🇺🇸🇮🇹

Thank you so much for subscribing ❤️🙌🏻

Are you in Britain or did you move to a different country as well?
Locals will love you and take care of you 🙌🏻
Wowwww your dad is amazing pilipinos I'm sure loved your dad what a lovely wonderful family

Thank you for the compliments ❤️🙌🏻
I never tried living in France although my last visit there was just for a week before heading back to Germany.
Baguette .
