As a WoW player who just got back to the game..yeah yeah accurate description 🤣. Tried out FFXIV and SWTOR and just could not last with either of them.
I've played far too many mmos in my life, and even though I'm kind of tired of them, they still are the types of games I feel like playing most of the time. My opinions on the ones I played are: - ESO - Tried to get into it a bunch of times but never managed to get invested in the endgame, the lack of class identity, light attack weaving and animation cancelling made the combat just not click at all for me. Also animations for the characters are bad. - GW2 - Probably the mmo I played the most, I don't know if I played it more than WoW, but it's clocking in at 2.4k hours and it's my main filler game, even tho I gave up on it when I heard Icebrood Saga would replace an expansion. - FFXIV - Quit the game like 4 times before I got into it, those early questings really killed me. Played it for 1.4k hours and I like it, but I started to have a problem with the game taking away your abilities in lower level content after some time. - LA - Bad management, the trickling of the classes (not to mention the freaking Summoner ending up to be the last one released) really killed my enjoyment for the game. I was going to main it and sunk 500 hours pretty damn fast, but since I couldn't play the class I wanted, the grind wasn't worth it for me, always holding off of mats and content for my main. This game has been nothing but Waiting Online, from waiting for the game to come out, to being utterly disappointed that my main wasn't available for a year. - New World - I feel this game will be great in the future, I like how it plays out. I just can't get into it because I don't like the current weapons available. It's also ironic you mentioned its state when the damn thing has most servers full and probably has more players than GW2 and ESO combined right now. - LOTRO - Eh, nothing much to say. Played it a bit in the past and I liked it but it was pretty much a dead game when I played it. - WoW - Oh boy... This was probably the first mmo I spent a lot of time on, but I spent most of it on private servers back in the day and only played on retail in WoD, Legion and very little of BFA. The direction the game went after Legion is a joke, which is a shame since the content is good, but besides the zones, the story just went downhill. I don't know how much I played it but it was a good portion of my time back WoTLK was out.
Wizards 101, you were a kid who saw this in a commercial and thought it was the coolest thing ever, until you learn what free to play really means. Also if you're a grown man playing it you're either doing it for nostalgia until you get bored, or you're really creepy.

It really hurts to see how much the people who play WoW hate it so much. I just started it a few months ago and it's probably the best game I've ever played.
I will be eternally salty about SWTOR replacing Galaxies. Even if Galaxies was pretty shit in some areas, it had a certain magic and uniqueness to it that I haven't found in any other MMO. Or at least not entirely.
I’m not following MMOs world in recent years, but I’ve got the feeling that every new game coming out is presented as "something that’s never done before" instead of just trying to be a good game
I was late playing WoW. I always watched my parents play it (I remember being intrigued by the Worgens. My dad had them wear top hats too) When I was a little younger I didn’t rlly have any interest in the game (Minecraft 4 life). Though when I did get the game it was during SL. Right now I kind of have a love hate relationship with the game sense even a year later I’m still discovering new things about it. But I’ve heard of some of the other games in this vid but haven’t tried them.
Been playing FF since pre 1.0 (12 years) Good game, honestly. If they could make pvp more engaging/more modes the game would be a 10/10 instead of 9/10
After playing both FFXIV and WoW, it's hard playing WoW now. There are so many simple quality of life features missing that FF has. Level synced dungeons are a big one. I hate missing story and content, and WoW doesn't give two fucks about leaving it in the dust.
1 I want to like ESO but I could never really bring myself to get intersted in what was going on. 2 Much the same as ESO, though i think the writing of what i had actually played was slightly superior to the writing of ESO .. again when I played each game respectively 3 I played it because my friends wanted me to. It was fun for a bit, combat was slower pace yet some how more hectic than WoWs 4 I played that for all of like 2 hours before getting bored of it. 5 I played that for all of like 30 minutes. My sister wanted me to play with her. 6. Looked into it, never got around to trying it. 7. Nostalgia is the main drawing point, though I do still enjoy this game. Probably my #1 pick 8. Looked into it, never got around to trying it. More so than LotRO at least. 9. classic, look upon it fondly but with zero drive to play it. 10 never even heard of that one. Honestly, aside from WoW, my #2 slot would probably go to everquest. that game is so crusty and hard to play nowadays. Plus, they keep trying to "upgrade" the graphics of the game, taking away the crusty classic charm for some really bad, late ps1/early ps2 looking graphics. And I mean that 3rd party crap, not one of the well polished play station games. Loaded into the starting zone to see that the classic flat translucent blue water got turned into some hyper glossy smear that just looked weird. They also lined the walls of the starting zone with cobblestone... its supposed to be a crude mine undergoing a slave rebellion, why is there cobblestone walls? My last actual attempt to play got soiled by some guild sucking me in, powerleveling me so i could "help them with new content" as their healer, only for them to kind of abandon me with no gear, no money, no/way underleveled spells. I just wanted to play a cleric, man...
I'm really not in any of the categories, played a lot of XIV and don't like anime, played ESO but never really botheres with Morrowind, love swtor and I think it's still pretty active, New World is improving so much that it could turn things around... There are a lot of bias opinions here. As for Ashes, I've been following the game, but everybody knows how early access games go, so I'm not even slightly holding my breath until they have a finished product.
You would see my profile pic and think "ah, a lotr player" but nah. I am one of these roleplayers who took over swtor. Now if you'll excuse me, gotta go back play some modded Skyrim.
Funny list. I recently went back to WoW from FFXIV and everyday I ask myself, why? The most excited I have seen the playerbase is when they bugged a mount drop to not be assine. Other than that everyone seems generally miserable and ok with having blizz spit in their mouth while telling them to go fuck themselves. But I said I would try Dragonflight and needed to play SL enough to make a fair comparison. We will see how this goes.
So my category its World of warcraft, cause I still play it, but I actually play other mmos, like guild wars, swtor, dc universe online, etc im waiting to see the new LoL mmo and see if its gonna be good lets hope it will
I wish I could be excited for Ashes, but forced PvP isn't my thing. I hope everyone that wants to enjoy it, does. I'll wait for the Riot mmo and hope it's good lol.
@@ranger-du7gk I’ve already looked pretty extensively into it, and as I said, it’s not my cup of tea. It’s just not something I enjoy. I’m sure I’ll still give the game a try but I’m not really banking on it winning me over. And that’s okay. I don’t have to love it, as much as I’d like to lol.

World of warcraft has become like a worn relationship at this point, dream of better things but keep comming home to azeroth. Part ready to quit but too much time and effort had been put in to stand walking away, occasionally there is a moment of glory spaced out by hopping the next thing blizzard comes up with will be better. Get a breath of fresh air in final fantasy then hope the next wow xpac will be better. Onward to dragonflight, and I am sure this love hate relationship with warcraft will continue.
Man really made a video about MMO's and forgot about us...the unspeakables. The true gods of MMO fandom who have been around since before World of Warcraft, and will persist long after... The MapleStory players
Actually I'm in two of the categories. I played WoW for years and years but finally got tired of grinding for grindings sakes. I moved to FF14 before the mass exodus from WoW and have been enjoying the story line there. I have to say now when I look at trailers for WoW the characters and the background just look clunky.

I played and enjoyed most of these, and I am not sure if I should be ashamed or just glad.
How can you have an MMO list without good old everquest or the monstrosity known as eve online?
It really hurts to see how much the people who play WoW hate it so much. I just started it a few months ago and it's probably the best game I've ever played.
No warhammer online (or return of reckoning) i'm honored though, it's untouchable
I wish I could focus my attention long enough to have a favorite MMO.
would have loved to see dc online here but i get why not lol
Anyone remember atrix entertainment games?
started to sing the tune of runescape when that part came out in the video
Been playing FF since pre 1.0 (12 years)
Good game, honestly.
2 Much the same as ESO, though i think the writing of what i had actually played was slightly superior to the writing of ESO .. again when I played each game respectively
3 I played it because my friends wanted me to. It was fun for a bit, combat was slower pace yet some how more hectic than WoWs
4 I played that for all of like 2 hours before getting bored of it.
5 I played that for all of like 30 minutes. My sister wanted me to play with her.
6. Looked into it, never got around to trying it.
7. Nostalgia is the main drawing point, though I do still enjoy this game. Probably my #1 pick
Personally I'm still waiting for another MMO to come out with as many open options for gameplay as 90's Ultima Online.
I installed mods for Skyrim today
(The only MMORPG I would be willing to play if WoW was shut down is ESO)
[Laughs in Anarchy Online and Dark Age of Camelot]
I'm really not in any of the categories, played a lot of XIV and don't like anime, played ESO but never really botheres with Morrowind, love swtor and I think it's still pretty active, New World is improving so much that it could turn things around... There are a lot of bias opinions here. As for Ashes, I've been following the game, but everybody knows how early access games go, so I'm not even slightly holding my breath until they have a finished product.
New World on that comeback train
SWTOR is probably the best single-player MMORPG I've ever played.
You would see my profile pic and think "ah, a lotr player" but nah. I am one of these roleplayers who took over swtor. Now if you'll excuse me, gotta go back play some modded Skyrim.
ok but the south park episode was really good
I am a proud hopium inhaler of Ashes.
I’ll have you know its a male roegadyn, in a moogle hat, but yeah the ffxiv description seems accurate
Not shown: Wizard 101, you are hooked on nostalgia, despite so many micro transactions EA is blushing.
Im the WoW player that awaits to see if RIOT can make a MMO that I can go and settle in
So my category its World of warcraft, cause I still play it, but I actually play other mmos, like guild wars, swtor, dc universe online, etc im waiting to see the new LoL mmo and see if its gonna be good lets hope it will
A guy in college constantly tried to get me to play FF14. And I’ll never get over how sad he looked everytime I just said no
To be fair, no one likes “Rings of Power”. Especially Tolkien fans and true LOTR fans.
What does it say when I switch between MMOs every couple of months?
I wish I could be excited for Ashes, but forced PvP isn't my thing. I hope everyone that wants to enjoy it, does. I'll wait for the Riot mmo and hope it's good lol.
You should look more into the pvp system as it’s not going to be at all what you’re thinking it is.
Single one who watch it only to see what nix say about wow? =) And yes, we are addicted at this point but not hating it men, love it just give me MORE LORE QUESTS BLIZZARDDDDDD!!!!!
Bro you didn't have to call Lazy Peon out like that in part10 ;-;
The MMO I play on your list is WoW.I have [layed the Myth of Soma and the Legend of Myre back in the day.
I came here to do 1000 hits to kill a crab. And thanks for Zepla to pointing this direction.
I am a loyal warcraft player who moonlights in the world of final fantasy once in a while.
Meeeh
My favorite MMO of all times (and my first love) was and is Ragnarok Online! I play this still today
SWTOR was fun for me for about a month, I fairly enjoyed the pve and PVP however my WoW addiction kicked in and I went back... For the Horde!! 😂
Don’t judge me for my jars of questionable liquid! Where else am I going to get brain fluid if I need some?
Man really made a video about MMO's and forgot about us...the unspeakables. The true gods of MMO fandom who have been around since before World of Warcraft, and will persist long after...
The MapleStory players
For Skyrim I’m always role playing as a sith with the hottest female outfit using actual lightsabers of course I like using count dooku’s lightsaber.
the wow player plays wow for the same reason Thrall keeps fighting... they don't get to hide.
Actually I'm in two of the categories. I played WoW for years and years but finally got tired of grinding for grindings sakes. I moved to FF14 before the mass exodus from WoW and have been enjoying the story line there. I have to say now when I look at trailers for WoW the characters and the background just look clunky.
As a RuneScape player he didn’t added osrs 😑
Me playing black desert:
On the one hand i'm glad not to be mentioned.
On the other hand I know we play because waifus
