As a Special Needs Teacher, I used to teach my students how to shop and about daily living skills by doing field trips at the Dollar Tree! I had the parents place their money in an envelope and we had the students count their money at the register. The customers were upset but I didn’t care! My babies deserve to shop and have community experiences too! Honestly, if I didn’t take them to the store, some wouldn’t go! I loveee to see children at stores learning & experiencing! 💕 How are they going to learn about real life if we don’t teach them so I love it! ❤
For customers who have no patience, perhaps DT could open another register for your kids. I think taking them shopping, letting them pick out what they like, and paying with their own money is so smart! Thank you! 👍
I’m not in a buying mood right now but I just wanted to tell you Katherine that “you are more than just enough”. You are so sweet, fun and sincere. You make me smile 😊
Love it!! ❤️ If you use a thick plastic (even a thick garbage bag) under your project, the resin won’t stick to it once dry. You can peal it off and use the drips for a future project and reuse the plastic. Peeling the resin is very therapeutic! 🤗🥰
Love that idea! I was thinking about adding birds somehow, maybe little plastic ones, if I can find them. I love watching videos of people making resin things. It's so cool. One tip from them is to use a lighter near the surface to pop bubbles in the resin. Bigger or dice projects may want to use a pressure pot for the bubbles.
I saw this on a different video..add sand to clear resin first, stir and pour. You can also add shells once resin is on board. Cover shells with a thin layer of resin.
Kathryn! Stop it!! This video made me click so fast, and it DID NOT disappoint! I am making that tray, and uplights really do make your space look SO MUCH BETTER!!
Thank you for the fun easy projects, but most of all for your beautiful, uplifting attitude! I always feel better after watching your videos, even given that I'm not feeling "badly" to begin with! Blessings!!
There are PLUS sections in all three or ours. however I cannot drive any longer so I often miss out on the limited items. I DO grab up things when I can have a ride there though.
Except it didn't cost her $5 to make. She used three canvases @ 1.25 each, command tape - 6 strips @ $1.25 (or more?), mod podge @ $1.25, the metallic chips @ $3.00, and the acrylic paints, which are different from the $1.25 5-pack of tempera paints which she showed earlier. That acrylic set had to have been at least $5.00 or more. So if I wanted to recreate what she made, it would have cost me at least $14.25. And that doesn't include the 'wall makeover's' little light and command tape above it. Sure they are great ideas, but don't tell me something cost only $5 to make when it clearly didn't.
Gallery art for decor came out a few years ago. It is fun to see how you can grab or reuse a canvas to do this. You can use real branches and leaves to lay down the base paint ( after dipping them) then accent with foils as well. I have seen some foil sheets at the dollar store before that can be cut up and altered. I moved to a small apartment and I do not have any wall space for much of anything, so my creative juices often mean that people are receiving gifts. ( I had to leave my flower garden behind so my green fingers are always itching to "grow things" lol
Love it. On the other side of the ocean, add some sand with resin on the top of it. It makes it look like wet sand. After all that dries, to the edge, add white glue and the dry sand on top of that. It really looks like the beach
Hi Kathryn! Kristin here, giving you a standing ovation! I’ve been waiting for someone to do the resin beach DIY! Slow clap all the way! I live in Myrtle Beach. Love beautiful ocean pieces! Outstanding!!
This is just in time ! My baby is having her first baby and the baby shower is coming up soon. We had wanted to make some gift bags for the guests but we were drawing a complete blank on what to get. This video got my head back in the game and I am brimming with ideas now. Thank you, thank you, thank you! By the way she's having a boy and I invite the whole world to welcome my first grandbaby into the world around the end of September. His name is Beckham Theo.
@lorila-northrup7748 Thank you for the warm wishes. Her story is actually fraught with drama. Our Beckham decided to choose his own birthday and wanted to come into the world with as much drama as he could. My poor baby started having distressing feelings the same evening she had her baby shower. Just the cliff notes of what is a longish story ~ I rushed her to the hospital. She had extreme pain and vomiting. Tests were run and based on her prenatal care they knew she had eclampsia and they had to do an emergency C section. Ì have to give all the praise in the world to her maternity team. I had no idea how dire the situation was until it was all over with and they let me see Beckham. He was born August 18th which was about a month and a half early. He weighed 3lbs 4 ounces and was in the NICU until he gained the required 4.5lbs. But what the team sheltered me from was the fact that my daughter almost died. She had what they call HELLP or HELPP (Google to the rescue). It's basically Eclampsia on steroids. When I looked it up, the information I read said that only 9% of all pregnancies ever get that seriously bad. But I didn't suffer through what most assuredly would have been crippling stress because her team never gave off any worried vibes or outwardly showed the extreme danger she was actually in when they took her to surgery. Yay team! But, mother and baby are home and they are thriving and that's really all I could ask for. Thanx again for your lovely words and best wishes to you and yours.
I have been viewing your vlogs for many years now your content is always so informative and functional ! Your enthusiasm is infectious , I particularly love the craft ideas today ! Keep the wonderful budget conscious ideas forth coming . 😊❤
Ive done something similar to the acrylic on art... my shower curtains have print on them. Ive taken embroidery thread and accented the flowers/stems, butterflies etc and thrown in some random embroidery stitches here and there to accent them. It actually turned out to be quite pretty and makes them look more hi end
I run a small art business and I’m starting to expand by making resin products and this not only gave me good tips but you have me some confidence that I really needed ❤
I loved the art you created on the pre-printed canvas, of a tree! I have seen these in several professional office buildings and have always thought they were beautiful and now I can make one of my own. Thank you🦩
You’re one of the best DIYers I’ve ever seen and I love your enthusiasm, kindness and genuine joy. Seriously i don’t really say things like this! But bless you, Bethany and Dee (sorry I’m missing a few greats probably!). You guys can really make my day!
Always a happy day when Kathryn introduces us to beautiful (and cheaper 🤫) gift ideas. I would never had the confidence to craft or DIY, if not for this channel .
You've done it again Kathryn!! So many great ideas.. I even have a small box of resin stuff I still haven't touched and you just inspired me to pull it on out!! 😁😁
It made my heart smile so big seeing you get excited for a classroom of children. I know you had to of been an amazing teacher, your boys are so sweet and manner able.. I loved all the DIY’s you made in this video everything turned out gorgeous...
I've been wanting to do resin projects. I collect pressed flowers and leaves from my trips. Plus maps. I'm hoping to make them into coasters, so each one is a little collage of a place I've visited.
@@franlats0705 Thank you for mentioning this. However, even with a respirator and when covering all skin, it's still dangerous. I've seen what it can do.
@rouladakdouk39 i agree 100%, its kind of worrying its being put into normal stores woth no warnings with it. I use resin myself and it is not used in the house, kids and pets aren't allowed near etc. It can be so dangerous and there are no real warnings about that danger. It's a little scary tbh
I love the fact she said, "its the one store you get to feel rich in!" That is the most true thing that I have ever heard! I love your videos Katherine! Thank you for being you! 💙💚🤍
Please observe respiratory precautions. I thought making the necklaces would be a fun project to do with my granddaughters but thanks to all the comments I now know that's not a good idea. Too bad cause I loved the idea.☹️
I just discovered you through this video and I love your energy! I had to subscribe immediately! Thanks for showing me how to make these beachy resin trays. They're huge at pop ups and now I can add them to my small business! I'll definitely look for these items when I go to Dollar tree on Saturday! Thank you!
God bless you and you family for blessing us with such good knowledge, God bless everyone on here and Dollar Tree has been one of my fav stores since i was a kid, used to get pokemon packs for a dollar a pack at some of my local ones when i was a teen and bought a bunch and now most of those packs are thousands of dollars , Thanks Dollar Tree for Being real with the people and giving us such great offers.
I like your videos a lot but I enjoyed them even more before you starting including the Plus section. A lot of us don't have that at our Dollar Tree, unfortunately.
My town just got the DollarTree Plus section added last week. I was in a hurry when I went to grab one thing I was looking for. Now I'm going to go back and shop! 😂
OMG! I love your wave art! ❤ This whole video is awesome....even though neither of my local Dollar Tree stores have half of what you show cuz they suck.
As your not wearing gloves with the resin... all resin has voc's. It is a neurotoxin, it builds up in your system. You don't even have to smell it for it to be building up. You definitely want a mask that works for vapor's, have really good ventilation, and have no kids or animals in the room. Especially while heating the resin with heat gun or hair dryer. I'm living with the effects of not knowing this before hand
I feel so absolutely cheated when I watch these videos. Our Dollar trees don't have a fraction of what yours does. You give great inspiration. I'll have to figure out where the best Dollar Tree is and just travel a bit to get there.

I like the bath salt idea but, the dried flowers will clog up the pipes and you absolutely have to make sure that the sented oils are safe to use on skin, not all of them are and can cause some really bad reactions.
Ugh!! You're so dang creative!!! I'm jealous that my brain don't work that way!😭 But ever so grateful that YOUR'S does and you take such joy in sharing with US!!! 😃 God Bless!!

Always wear a respirator while working with resin! Trust someone who has damaged lungs - it's essential! Love it 💞
Agreed. My hubby is on oxygen 24-7 due to Covid damaging his lungs.
Sending ❤
Thanks for the reminder! I've seen tons of YT videos where DIYers share their horrible stories of what happened to them!
Came here to say this. With an apartment, multiple pets, and a baby there's just no way I'm getting to play with resin any time soon.

Hello 👋 how are you doing today??
Ooh, I bet the dollar store plastic tablecloths would work! We use them for lots of craft projects in my house.
Or A cheap Vinyl one!
Hello! Quick question 😊 How can you re-use the dried resin?
What if you laid plexiglass glass down? Would that work too??
What a gorgeous round and tray! I thought that adding sand and tiny seashells at the bottom would add to the feel of being at the seashore. 😊
Love that idea! I was thinking about adding birds somehow, maybe little plastic ones, if I can find them. I love watching videos of people making resin things. It's so cool. Put down clear resin let dry then layer in the colors. Heat gun makes better lacing. And from underneath reinforce the DT wood or use Acacia. Mix it well w equal parts or it never dries/cures..😊 i use the DT black stones for jetty w shells/starfish, brown sand if you can find them..
