Hi. It turned out beautifully. You could save some time and not wash them. The oven kills any undesirables. I make soap and candles, so I got my pine cones ready a couple of months. Ago. I have just been decorating my packaging and glasses with them. They still look freshly picked. Also, you can buy glitter spray in a can. It is a clear lacquer with glitter. You get the same result with little effort. You can add extra glitter with cinnamon while lacquer is still wet and it sticks perfectly. I hope you don't mind me telling you. By no means is yours lacking at all. It's purely time saving advice:)
