Hey, no shame whatsoever in setting up a link for support if you're in a rough place in terms of work! I've been blown away before with the generosity of strangers and folks on the internet who are willing to help out :) Also, the irony of me finally sitting down to properly watch one of your vlogs, right when I've been having brutal executive disfunction and I'm finding any reason whatsoever to put off doing important work articles, is...not lost on me. xD Thank you for sharing so much of your journey with us though! I'm so scared and reluctant to try and start the ADHD diagnosis journey, but every time I hear people discuss how beneficial an ADHD diagnosis and medication has been for them, I've been like THAT'S WHAT I'VE ALWAYS WANTED?! Like, all I've wanted is for my brain to just...work normally sometimes? It doesn't help that I'm autistic as well - diagnosed age 9 - but regardless. Seeing stories like yours only help encourage me further to start the diagnosis process. Hope you're having a lovely week thus far :)
Hi there AJ :) Thank you for watching my vlog and taking the comment - even if you are procrastinating! I appreciate it a lot. So glad you have found my content useful and reassuring; it's so wonderful to know that I'm making people feel less alone and helping them to understand themselves better. Getting a diagnosis can feel like an overwhelming task, but getting support in the process from friends, family or other people in the ND community can help make it feel less daunting. Do come back and watch more content to help you along your journey! I'm always open to answering any questions you might have. Wishing you lots of luck in your journey into understanding yourself! Emily
I find your videos informative. I've never heard of inattentive adhd before. I learnt so thing knew and I'm seeing my doctor Wednesday to see I I can be tested fir adhd. I have a feeling this will answer a few things about myself
Hey there, I'm so glad they are useful to you - Inattentive ADD is the same as ADHD but doesn't have the "hyperactivity" side. Seems to be more common in females, although that's not an exclusive distinction. Wishing you luck with your diagnosis journey; it really is an opportunity for self-discovery and that is always going to be a positive thing, no matter the outcome :)
I just watched part of two of your videos (we'll chalk that up to ADHD) while my game is updating, and you seem like a sweet person. Enjoy the coffees!
I’m in the inattentive camp too, finding it really hard to go anywhere but have just started titration so I’m hoping this helps. I’ve been prescribed Elvanse but not sure if Concerta maybe better but worried if I change they may not let me back onto the Elvanse 😣
Just discovered your videos and thanks for sharing your experiences, some are dead-on similar to mine. In particular, the “life clear-out” 12:00 I felt like I held on to so much stuff for years and just couldn’t decide what to do with it, so just… sat on it. Enter meds, and it’s like I think about it for a second and then just make up my mind immediately, “yea no, it’ll be fine…” *poof* amazing…
Hi there Zak! I'm so glad my videos have help you feel less alone :) it's crazy how long we have been struggling with these issues and thought that we were alone in feeling this way, and now... here we are! I really appreciate your support of my channel - thank you for taking the time to comment. I hope to hear from you again soon! Em x
Having happened to come across your vlogs on taking adhd meds was interesting to see the change over the months on concerta xl . You mention alot about having a headache which is a side effect of the meds nit always dehydration. You mention about going to work but mention you don't have a job!! You are going out and socialising alot with friend going for food etc , so I'm wondering how you manage to do that with no income as such ! You go to the pub have takeaways etc , I work formyself and not able to go out like you do & you don't work! So I'm wondering how you subsidise yourself Rent utilities food etc also having a dog none of which comes cheap. I'm glad you are better functioning now & have very few side effects as such compared to lots of others such as elevated heart rate higher blood pressure , tummy issues, anxiety. I've heard anxiety seems to rise on the meds. I've been waiting over 7 mths now since being diagnosed for the meds trial due to meds shortages everywhere. I've done alot of research on the meds available and seems tne go to is methylphenidate variants. You mentioned before about losing almost 10 yrs to undiagnosed adhd well I can relate to that but mines been 60years 😢 going over in my head all of the times had I'd of known I had had adhd maybe things might of been different but having said that adhd wasn't really a thing when I was growing up in the late 60's and 70's . I am nervous about taking any kind of meds at all as I'm very sensitive to them so I try wherever possible to take natural supplements with few side effects at all to adhd msds with loads of quite bad side effects that need to be monitored such as higher blood pressure etc . I've always struggled with poor sleep regularly waking at about half 2 to 3 in the mornings and then unable to get back, so end up hammered with fatigue & burnout. What I tend to see alot are thise who vlog about adhd all work in a an office e environment or at home, none so far that I, aware of do any blue collar jobs such as I do ( run my own plumbing business) that really affects me physically mentally as it comes with a lot of stressors . So alot of people are having reminders on their laptops etc doesn't really work when you're stuck under a bath or boi,er , you can't just log off for a bit. You have to stay and get the work done so its doubly hard and when I come home I'm so shattered physically that the thought of getting dressed up to go out is out of the question, as I have to decompress and recharge my batteries & the thought of cooking dinner is the last thing on my mind so end up having a bowl of soup after a very physical day. Seeing as your vlogs are over a year old now I'm wondering how your journey is going with the meds ?
Hey do you have twitter? I'm 31 and was just diagnosed a couple months ago (combined type),. I started Concerta XL two days ago and it's been interesting watching your videos to see what may come for me! I'm similar to you in that I get overwhelmed very easily and can't do more than one thing in a day. I'm excited to see what the next few weeks bring, these first 2 days are great though I can really tell a difference (since I have hyperactivity too, I can tell I'm much calmer!)
Hey there Cakepls :) I don't have Twitter I'm afraid! Historically I've found it to be quite a negative online space and I try to protect myself from that as much as I can. I'm so glad to hear that my vlogs are supporting you through your journey, and that things are going well so far! Keep going with it, even if you feel like it isn't making a difference, progress isn't linear. Good luck with everything, and thank you for supporting my channel :) Emily
Generally just close my eyes and I'm out like a light! As an adult I have no problem going to sleep at all - I always seem to be so tired. As a child I really struggled with sleep and had insomnia. I was taken to a psychiatrist but they didn't mention ADHD at that time.

7:38 - What interesting insights! Thanks for sharing. Good luck with those chronic headaches.
I'm glad it was helpful! No problem - thank you for commenting.
Hopefully I will get them under control soon!

Well I know that feeling! Thank you for your kind words - and even more thanks for the coffees! You are a star.
